thats $60 per chip tho

What about those boards? Is the clock generator supported?
Back from work..
Sorry guys, I gave them my cellphone number and they promised to get back to me with pricing and availability information, but it seems they had something better to do.
If the price s0lid got is from the same site, we can forget it anyways. They probably won't let them go below 100€ or so. Dang...
So it's 60 USD for the CPUs each.. I think I'm gonna pass :/
I got X5450 incoming, they'll do around 36-38k/d which equals around 4-5 Sammy's (which I wanted), but the Harpers use less power (300 vs. 500W guesstimation). Plus I need to raise 300€ w/o taxes for a 2nd Z7S... yes, they have actually gotten more expensive, argh! My 1st one cost me like 278€ net.
Man.
Are you kidding me?
Sammy's are hot, rare, and you need one just for the hell of it.
Shiet even i got one.
One? Bah.. I wanted 5 in a server rack :D
But that won't work with the CPUs at 60$ each :/
One just isn't Xtreme enough for me :D
Plus it's not worth the shipping hassle...
how exactly does the pinmod work, i've never done it before, i really don't get how it works, oh, and on topic, my board should be here friday :D
you guys talking about the mobo shipping?
If you look at my thread on shipping you'll see how fast it was. US to EU UK. No problems
s0lid,
Let's wait until jcool gets an answer from that German shop.
im interested in sharing shipping expenses for the heatsinks
Which wouldn't go past 4Ghz anyways on my DFI cause it does for the hell of it not want to go above FSB 460 with a Quad - no thank you :shakes:
Jaco, I don't think they're gonna respond or they would have done so yesterday
Plus if they tell s0lid the CPUs cost like 170€ they won't give it to me for 10...
What about the shop in the first link ?
Sold out at the moment, I guess :D , but maybe they can get more cpu's ?
So, for what I know, we need this so far:
Jaco: motherboard
S0lid: motherboard
Bootup: 2 sinks
Me: motherboard + 2 sinks
Do we know if Dave is willing to ship all of this crap to Europe?
Also, I think it would be best if we would all pay him the amount we owe him + 1/4 of the shipping costs instead of all at once, since we all need different parts. That makes it a little more easier I think. Shipping the rest within Europe could be arranged later. We will need a quote on the individual parts, the shipment within the US and the shipping to the EU so that we know how much to pay.
Im not sure if I'd need any backplates or not.
The board has backplates on already, well what look like backplates anyway, metal plates behind the cpu socket area, these are detachable.
Dave should be able to tell us what it is these are.
The back plate which that mobo has is wrong type...
I'll show u:
Right type of backplate:
http://www.xtremesystems.org/Forums/...1&d=1209693676
Wrong type of backplate (comes with mobo)
http://www.xtremesystems.org/Forums/...1&d=1207901046
There is simple explanation: those oringinal backplates are ment for case which has already lga604 or lga771 coolers on them.
But yea those backplates costs around $3-5 so not really big deal...
Ah ok thanks for explaining :)
I'll be needing some backplates then
I've been thinking: should i take 2 mobos and 4heatsinks and backplates at once since they're so darn cheap...
Btw anybody wouldn't have cheap Eatx 1U 19" cases left over :D?
Go for it! :yepp:
You should pick up one of them cheap $50, and have a go at modding an ATX, gives you a little project to do
Oh what the hell. I don't have CPUs, but I might find some sooner or later. Sign me up for one mobo, two heatsinks + backplate.
Don't worry, you entitled to spam it, its your thread :p:
s0lid ,
Is that a supermicro backplate (SKT-059) ?
I am expecting 2 of those shortly :D
no these are different. 2€ /piece and 15€ shipping costs :am:
The backplates I got with your help were these:
http://www.pcsilent.nl/nl/CPU_Koeler...oards.818.html
I am in need of a bit of hardware here :yepp:

Sorry for the crappy pic, but I had to take it fast... Gotta go now. Enjoy! :D
Any updates yet?
About getting mobos and heatsinks?
I'll send u an pm :)
I just ordered 4 motherboards for you sorry assed people..
And Dave, you're sponsoring mine too? :p:
Ahh, you got two chances..Slim and none..And forget slim!
Right now I couldn't sponsor a tiddlywink contest between two midgets if it took place in my living room.
Blew a lot of money lately, more than I had to play with.
Ok, you guys will need to come up with app $80.00 for the 4 pairs of heatsinks and $2.95 each and shipping for the xeon backplates that I will order from Performance PC's.. The ones Jaco showed should work fine also.
Just let me know whats planned and by PM in addition to this thread in case I miss it..
Oh, boards were shipped today, should arrive to me next friday.
So there's no chance you won't sponsor me? That's good! I'd be happy to save you a few bucks on electricity. I have 'net and 'power for plenty of machines. I can do 4 more system right now easy, more with wireless cards. ;)
I'd be doing you a favor, Dave! :yepp: :ROTF: And Dave, once I get my textbooks I can look over what's left that I can spend. Maybe I would be able to buy your Q6600 or something and replace my E2140.
Anyone want to sell me 2 sammy? :)
Oh goody! I'm on the VIP list! :D
Story of my life thusfar.
Dave, I sent my part of the deal for the backplates and shipping costs. $60 should cover the total, right?
So no one have pin-mod these suckers successfully yet?
Not to my knowledge
Hi, How do you know this 266FSB mod works?
I don't think it will as from all I've read( and trust me here, I did a LOT of research on these) the highest FSB ever gotten with the Yonah was 245 on that Aopen 975 board..App 2940mhz they got to.
I think your going to have to be happy with the 200FSB pin mod IF it will work.
It didn't for me but hey, I'm an old blind man so maybe I missed something.:D
Taking these chips from 2000(1995 in reality) so from 2000/2mb/667 to 2400/2mb/800 is a decent jump.
At that speed they should do just over 10,000 a day in WCG as they perfectly work out to 1.1 point per day per total mhz.
To put that in perspective, when the Q6600 B3 kentsfields came out they worked out to 1.09 permhz per day so these are pretty impressive little chips.
With a working pin mod to 2400 thats 9600 total mhz and that times 1.1 equals 10,560 points a day claimed. Not bad huh?
Let's update som:
The mobos are at Moviemans place at friday, how about heatsinks and backplates?
Maybe I should order the backplates here in the Netherlands, if they were the ones that Jaco showed us?
EDIT: they aren't, NVM.
Btw what size of psu is this requires :D?
I've an 230W psu over here, with P4 connectors and all :P
Is that enought? should be...
Btw... It's my bday, yes i'm now 17 :fact:
Whoa... HAPPY BIRTHDAY s0lid!!! :D
I was just getting ready to make a thread for Frish so you get one also. Unhide your bday next time :P
Thx mates :)
Just checked: psu don't have an P4 connector...
But now i got good reason to remove one molex rail and replace it with 8pin ESP connector from this:
http://www.coolputer.fi/tuotekuvat/1199.jpg
Elfa had those connectors in stock early this year but can't find em from their website... Need to start reading the 5kg elfa 2008 catalog :ROTF:
Hey, I figurfed how we get even with Martijn for being greedy with those chips..
We send him all but the heat sinks......:sofa:
Talked with OEMXS today. Going there tomorrow am and grabbing 10 HS
Dave, you do realize that I have FOUR chips right here? :p:
You DO realize that instead of selling them to S0lid, I could sell them locally for triple the prize instead? ;)
You DO realize that I could have my own sinks shipped to me then?
Oh and those Sammies won't need heatsinks LOL!
Did you miss my entire coment at the start of this post?
Rule 1: Dave is always correct
Rule 2: No you are not correct
Rule 3: I thought i was like you, Smarter then dave. But when you think your right, follow rule 1
Do i need to show this failed picture again?
http://i125.photobucket.com/albums/p...a/IMG_1079.jpg
LOL, didn't it work out?
Rule no. 4: never admit to Dave he was right after all :D
Yupp.. those HR-05s crushed cpus right?
*67(dave's phone number) + SEND. ;) I've done that before.
Ahh, God bless FedEx!
Guess what just showed up a day early?
Four nice pretty Intel Sossaman boards.
Now I've just decided that since our good friend Mr.Martijn is known as Mr. Boardburner that I should only send three and keep his for extensive testing.
Say 2-3 months should do it!
How good do they work on the NB and SB as I did notice those generating a lot of heat. Also how difficult was it to pull the factory NB and SB sinks?
