Thank your very much, but i havent expected that it comes so late  :(
I thougt they have learned something from the DK(new bios etc.) so there is not much more to do for the UT
The link doesnt work ;)
It should also be available here today/tomorrow.

Ok folks its that time ALL motherboards have arrived from NL today
Models are
P45 LP DK TR2S PLUS
X48 LP DK T2RSB PLUS
X48 LP LT T3RS
Real photo's of ALL of these boards will be posted BY yours truly tomorrow. yippppppppppppeeeee they are here!
After tomorrow I will only review TWO of these boards for you, as I had a major hand in the t2rsb+ I cannot review my own work now can I?
gilgamesh
buy why!!! :) im getting the trsb plus!!! i need results giga!
then are you happy with myself reviewing it even knowing that i had a hand in it?>
Well just to confirm if it produces good results, i dont want any comments from people 'saying ooooooh you would say that, you had a hand on the board design' I do not want anyone to say that ok, I was honest from the outset that I have a active interest in that board.
I will review it on the understanding of the above, and I did inform you all from the outset!
Is this agreed and fair?
cheers
gilgamesh
Label it as an unofficial product announcement with a demonstration of features and performance and nobody can say anything ;)

nice one clunk!!!!
Yay kudos to you guys.
smooth layout, sexy color, but wat's up with those USB headers? wouldnt they conflict with, say the new ATI x2 cooler, in cf?
it's good to have an "inside man" posting, cause it keeps the thread away from unuseful supositions and flaming...
thx!
better shots ARE here
REAL board shots inc shots of the heatsink and the PWM's unmasked.
These are the worlds FIRST TRUE board shots with the PWM's unmasked

nice board there. :D
Gilgamesh, you need to remove that lanparty logo from your site, I made that from scratch, you have removed my watermark - that's copyright infringement.
yup already made lots of observations about the northbridge heatink
if my my crtisize my own and DFI's work here
The way that we have allowed the end user to install a water block without the removal of the PWM sinks, is to SPLIT the northbridge heatsink in half. The removal of the heatsink shows a FLAT base (as per my photos) this is where the water block goes.
The bolts to hold dow nthe heatsink are from top to bottom with the nuts being on the under side of the board:
Obvious disadvantage to this is that the board has to be TAKEN out of the case to install a water block:

every dk and jr series will be applied
So in essence if the bolts were reversed and went upwards instead of down and were 1-2cm longer then there would be no need to take the motherboard out of the case to install a water block, as then the SAME mounting screws can be used:)
A simple idea don't you agree but an effective one:)
gilgamesh
i await testing on the board :)
gilgamesh1, as you seem to have a good connection to DFI - please ask them, why they always refer to "digital voltage regulation" when there are just old school caps and chokes around the cpu socket.
DFI produced boards with digital vr, so they should know the difference.
@gilgamesh1
In my experience the UT P35 TR2 would have been better board if the NB Sink can be removed just like the X48 board. hehehe Its great to see that the DARK series has gone a long way since the P965-S Dark. :D
BTW, there is one more rant I have for the DK boards. Hard soldered bios chips. hehehe But I guess that feature is best left for the LT/UT series.
Is there any sites at all doing pre-orders for the p45 JR in the U.S.? I really don't wanna miss out and wait until September.
Yes that was when I first started liaising with DFI, was one of the things I pointed out, apart from that I liked the p35 board.
Yes that’s the trouble with the DK series; remember DK series is their budget range board, so costs have to be kept down. I am trying to address one issue at a time that needs to be changed. I am sure you agree it’s quite frustrating when you have lots of ideas but they cannot implement due to the budget for the board.
However these are the changes I have helped to make and I will list the ones I have yet to
Increase from 4-6 phase=done
Increase quality of PWM heat sinks=done now Nickel based
User can install water block on the Northbridge without replacing the pwm sinks=done
Still to do:
Convince Board layout designers to take away the onboard speaker (no need for beep diagnostics now due to the LED code readout) this will then leave space for other stuff which leads to next point
P45 series boards (all of the dk range) CMOS clear (not the rear one) needs to be repositioned, as at the moment it is obscured by the graphics card=Mentioned but needs to be actioned be DFI
ALL DK boards include a CMOS RESET like the LT board where you can press and hold power/reset for four seconds to reset cmos=mentioned but still to be actioned.
X48 T2RSB+ As mentioned above, bolts for mch block need to be reversed and made longer, that way a user can change the mch block for a water block whilst leaving the board inside the case.=I mentioned has been actioned, third party heat sink company contacted but will only be actioned on the next DK model.
I cannot see DFI ever having a socketed BIOS chip on the DK series due to budget constraints. But I AGREE it really should be implemented if possible.
However I am working hard to get the above features implemented and other ideas. Any ideas you have will be mentioned to DFI as user feedback!
DFI are also watching this thread, so any ideas you have will be noticed :)

(my 3 years old asus motherboard has one!)
@gilgamesh
I'm sure DFI will find a way with the removable bios. :D They were able to do it with the P965-S Infiinity series board. :D I'm not sure which one is cheaper though, a dual bios setup or one with a removable bios chip. It was a nightmare when I first experienced a corrupted bios chip.
Yah, that onboard speaker should go away. hehehe
Nice one  Although if your on water you'll generally fit NB waterblock at same time you fitted CPU backplate/mounting rods, before mounting board in case.Quote:
So in essence if the bolts were reversed and went upwards instead of down and were 1-2cm longer then there would be no need to take the motherboard out of the case to install a water block, as then the SAME mounting screws can be used
Not really needed, for example what if someone has just upgraded from a air cooler, or in my case upgraded from a water cooling system i.e cpu only.
No need to do a external leak test as the system has been in place, leak test has been completed on the mch block prior to fitting to the rest of the w/c loop. Ergo no need to take the board out of the case. Ofcourse there are many variables, it is just a little more thought about hte positioning of these bolts can turn a good design into a great design (fair play critisising my own work)
In addtion this is what I am speaking off the water cooler for the mch block need to change the mounting rods of the length/thread nad position of these rods are correct. This way the self same mountingh rods can be used if they wish to air cool OR water cool!
Suggested changes have already done the company for implimentation on the next board release, which obviously will be the Nehalim boards.

That's awesome Clunk. Thanks for the images.
thanks clunk!!!
One thing to be careful of...don't over tighten the screws that hold the NB block in place or the whole thing starts to lose contact with the IHS.
Here's a HR-05 SLI too. As you can see, it covers the top PCI-E slot by about 1mm - you can work round this by filing off the bump inside and pushing it towards the CPU slightly, and you can use a cable tie to stop it slipping downwards if needed

Cool. Thanks for the pics Clunk. Love how DFI is making NB cooling solutions more configurable without having to replace the mosfet cooling as well.
Is that stable? hr-05 does it move around much? or is it firmly planted?
got problems with mine at this moment in time:
Bios keeps detecting my 8500 wolfie as 6.5x, set bios to 9.5 and save, when board reboots it once again goes back to 6.5x multi
Sent video of the situation to DFI to see what they make if it.

is there problems with the 4870x2 and this board...
all the other dfi x38/x48 boards seem to be having trouble!
Appears updating the BIOS fixes the issue.

Here is hte truth aboutthe x48 t2rsb+ board situation.
THe x48 t2rsb+ has not been released to the public yet, due to an issue about an improper resistor being installed. Resistor is too strong not loading TM module for certain cpu's thus the multiplier appears brokEn for some cpu's
This is the issue i raised a few posts back and is why no benches have been released. So in essence ALL samples of this board are incorrect, resistor is too small to be soldered by us. Dfi are now sending out the reworked samples with the correct resistor. So mine and Clunks board are FAULTY!, my new revision board is on its way along with the P45 JNR!
So there is no point doing benches of this board until new boards have been sent. If anyone wishes to see a film of this fault e-mail me.
DFI are aware of the issue and have now fixed the problem.

I realize which board you were asking about. I replied to your original post for users who did not click on the link you provided. Your statement without following the link indicates that the 4870X2 is not working on any of the boards at this time. There is no mention of a BIOS update fixing the issue.
Totally agree with gilgamesh. It is pointless asking for specific info on any pre-release board. A lot can change by the time the board goes retail. Which is why I post results with retail only components and publicly available BIOS'
Considering this board has not yet been released, hopefully DFI realized what was happening with their other X-chipset boards and have fixed it before the X48 DK T2RSB is widely available. Since there are beta BIOS updates for the other boards, I would assume this one will be good to go from the start.
1. I'm sure it is a simple fix [ok I hope].
2. Dude do you sleep?
Is it too late to make a recomendation? The case audio placement for the DK X38, and it looks like this board, might be better off somewhere else lol. With dual slot video cards, you have to slip the audio cable in between the fan and PCB for it to get into the connector... Not very convenient...
There has not been an official release yet:
NOBODY world wide has this board in stock yet.
Resistor problem has now been worked out, and board is in testing, hence why I am here , will let you know when I have the re-worked board. I have been asked to test by DFI
gilgamesh
Some more suggestions for the DFI to improve...
1) Update regularly the drivers section of their motherboards
2) Use only Realtek soundcards (as they already do on some (don't know the cheap ones) boards)
3) Create something like ASUS's express gate. It can even be a file to be copied on a usb stick of the customer's.
4) Keep the same colour scheme.
5) Better to stop using thermalright's cooling as it increases the cost. It would be better if we could use on top of the stock cooling thermalright's heatsinks. Something like giglamesh1 has suggested with the NB waterblock
6) Start selling DFI motherboards in Greece!!!!!
7) Keep listening to customers like here (gilgamesh1 states)
It would be better if a new thread here or at dfi club was created and we had official feedback from DFI
as far as the cooling
already on the case : already posted the e-mail to dfi this morning before your post re: extending the northbridge idea to the pwm blocks as well, as well as using standard 3mm bolts on all pwm, n/b fittings so water coolers can use the same bolts to mount a block
Erm bernstien still uses the realtec codec buddy
gilgamesh
I haven't had any problems with my board, the multi selection worked fine with my E8500 too.
I did a couple of quick clocks.
500x8 4Ghz was pretty straight forward.

450x9.5 = 4276MHz - Stable for about 80 mins in prime95.

Screenies and other thoughts here.
improving distribution channels should also be in DFI's list. :D
heheh it already is: been chasing all enquiries with this up
OK I have received my new board: along with the full version of the LAN PARTY JNR board.
CLunk may have been lucky to get a board that has no problems, but this issue i raised was already at DFI. Hopefully with the new resistor, there hsould be no problems.
Oh latest news, Oscar Wu has jsut got 685mhz fsb on a LANparty JNR on a cascade cooling system
gilgamesh
woot!! Killer Matx board. hehehe
Well, the X48 DK T2RSB Plus is finally available, but the price sucks - at 175€ the X48 LT is only ~10€ more
On the other hand, the P45 Jnr costs 120€, less than the non-plus P45 T2RS.
already suggested to dfi to use the same idea for the northbridge block and use them on the pwm blocks also, that way we have a totally water cooling friendly board, obviously that will be at a higher price...
I should be working on the Nehalim board very soon, cannot relase any details of that nda and al that but we do know that there will be no northbridge on that board, so thats an expense saved already however my idea can be used onthe pwm blocks instead, however I will have to see how that goes.
Will keep you all updated as much as I can, so long as it does not go against my NDA
gilgamesh
so anyone tried max fsb with x48T2rs+
gilgamesh1, can you get any info on upcoming boards? i think its too late for a 780/790i but do you know if they'll be coming out with a nehalem board.. if they are they i might hav eto hold off on my upcoming build.
updates?
Got the JR on test.
I've given up on the T2RSB plus until my 8600 arrives.
I was limited to 520FSB with that chip, or at least I think that's what the problem was.
I'll update as soon as I know.

Thanks a gazzillion for the link Clunk!
I am in North Carolina, US
I was trying to get this board a few weeks ago, I was talking to a guy at DFI through email. I was expecting it a few weeks ago at newegg.com , he said he sent them 50 boards, but then was told by guy at DFI that 2 resistors were bad on the board & he had to take them back from newegg. Last week he said the problem was fixed and newegg should be receiving the boards this week. But I still haven't seen one on their site & i'm trying to get one.
Some NCIX.com website has it on preorder with eta 9/12 , i really don't wanna wait that long but i guess i will if i have to. Hopefully the info I got from DFI works out & newegg gets it this week or early next week. I do though have some questions about the board:
I plan on using the 4870x2 & wanted to know if there is any issues with it, as there is no beta-bios I can see for the board and it doesn't seem to come up in the list of boards with an issue. Not sure if that is because it doesn't have an issue or if it is because it hasn't been tested since a properly working board hasn't been available until maybe last week to a select few.
Also any input on a timetable other than the info I have for US buyers.
Also how well it overclocks... How far can I push the FSB? Does the heatsink on the chipset come off easy & will the HR-05 cooler fit on it.
I will be running an E8600 on it & watercooling the cpu with a Swiftech Apogee GTZ Extreme Waterblock & ThermoChill PA 120.3 RAD. Will be using a Thermalright HR-05/IFX Hightower chipset cooler. Laing DDC-3.2 (MCP355) pump with Petra's Tech DDCT-01s pump top. All in a Antec 1200 case. oh yeah 2x2GB OCZ Platinum (1066) RAM. Not sure if I should get 4GB or 8GB. (Will run 64bit Vista 4 sure if i get 8GB)
I'm not an expert on timings & voltage & such so if anyone has any extra time I'd like to see what FSB can be set to, Multi up to 10x on the E8600 , what the voltage could be at, what is compatible with what as far as these settings & i guess the ram timings as I plan to overclock that too. Anyone know how far I can push the 1066 with 2 sticks at 4GB compared to 4 sticks at 8GB. What kind of divider could I be using without bottlenecking anything I wanted to run at 4.5ghz 450fsb x10 multi ?
Thanks for any help and any info on anything, I've already read all the posts in this thread and it's really helpful! Still randomly reading other posts on here & learning what i can.

Newegg finally got them in for US buyers.
mobopro has this board for jsut a smidgen over $200
what say you gents,,, yay or nay for me and my Q9650 ?
beaing in mind I am still reeling from the nightmare with my DFI P45 JR ... worst board i have had in,, well i would say years....
Whats wrong with your max formula?
ya know i sold it along with alot of my stuff, had the 9650 sold but then they backed out.
all in preperation for the baby coming, just wanting to bank some money.
then i said no,, i am going to have one good system instead of just doing a mediocre system.
i hate myself for selling the maxi formula, i truly do, i loved the board.
but hind sight is 20/20 thats for sure.
