Definitely mine next am2 mbo...
That JR board is nice, although IMO only for SFF/HTPC use. However, when Deneb is out Ive a spare 9850BE... Might as well grab that little baby:cool:
Dag nabbit. The first wave of 790GX boards have all landed and there isn't a single 3 or 4 slotter among them. I must have a minimum of 3 x8+ slots, 4 is better, and 5 would be ideal.
And you probably won´t be seeing much over 3 slots either, as it only has 26lanes. 4 are used for southbridge, 16 for 1/2 slots and that leaves 6 lanes for other.
Asus having 3 slots, highly probable that it´s a 4x electrical. 2 lanes over for 1x slots or something :S
I'm with you on that one Particle:) Although the onboard IGP in conjunction with a ATI Card is appealing. Just wish there was more slots on the motherboard as I need atleast 2 PCI Slots one for sound card and the other for my parallel Card for my Laser FAX/Printer
TBH, it seems like RS780D wont offer the same power saving features as nVidia has with their Hybrid SLI. So to be honest, I hardly see a reason in the first place to grab a RS780D board unless you're a HD 34x0 die-hard fan/HTPC/SFF user.
Just get the RD790/SB750 combo;)
As far as I know this is the only one,but I am not 100%
and btw AMD loves the students:;)

EDIT*
I think Bingo13's "bad secret" was the 150$ price range, think the Biostar is 99$ on the egg...........
*slobber*
Those DFIs look really nice...
Good to see old PCI still hanging in there.
Wristband carrier for a thumbdrive?!!?

Glad to see someone think I'm not being absurd for once!
I currently have the following PCIe cards:
- 1 PCIe x1 sound card
- 2 PCIe x16 video cards
- 1 PCIe x8 RAID controller
I would like to add:
- 1 PCIe x1 10/100/1000 NIC
- 2 PCIe x16 video cards
I guess I'd need a 7-slot board for that, which is unlikely. :) I can live with just the two 4850s and the PCI NIC I'm using, which means I need a minimum of 3 PCIe x8 slots and 1 PCIe x1 slot unless I want to downgrade. I don't think any amount of higher clock speeds from an SB750 board is going to make up for that missing video card. heh

much lower power consumption with same vcore/mhz:hehe:
Hmm...
That's a lot for just the chipset...
http://largon.wippiespace.com/smilies/squint.gif
Sweet. I'll have to check it out.
I am SO buying this when it comes out. I will overpay, because I am an emotional wreck and weakling....
Also notice that it is already classic DFI, with Typos all over the place.... notice the "8 channles" in the audio. Heck, there's even typos in the BIOS on my 790FX machine
anyone know what the pwm is like on the 4 available boards from newegg? i'm having a rough time finding anything about that aspect of the boards. it'll determine if i am stuck waiting for the fxb or not as the 8x in crossfire has no weight on my decision.
Mine has 5 (4+1)Phase,
"Offering the Latest Platform Support and Connectivity Options

More is better:rofl:;)
As long as it has enough VLOTAGE (not a typo;))
it's all good.
Some people have mentioned that the igp is waisted
when you add the discrete cards, but I think there is an
"older" feature called "surround view" which allows you
to run an extra (2?) monitors. That would explain this slide
that Oliverda posted (asked about) earlier.
This "new" feature seems pretty cool :it enables you to
upload your BIOS settings ( and sell it on the e-Bay:ROTF:) to share with others:up:
DFI rambles about surface mount choke packs but the board in the pic has traditional stand alone iron core chokes? Huh?
My point exactly.
How does the change in chipset lower total power consumption way more than what the consumption of the chipset itself is? I'd say the compared systems would consume different wattages even if the chipsets were same. Thus it's is a useless comparison.
I like this foxconn :D

darmn wheres 790gx mATX mobos, i want to build matx sized wooden case and inside of it 2x1tb hdds on raid 0 + one 3870 or 4850 paired up with my old 9500 phenom or new 9950.
and i mean as high as matx mobo debth as matx mobo and wide about 15-18 cm with regular atx powersupply and cpu has watercooling ( 240 model rad )
sounds like a plan :D
Guys,
Here is a link to a matx Biostar Tforce 790gx motherboard
http://www.biostar.cn/app/en-us/t-se....php?S_ID=377#
Not a bad board for Biostar. However, I will still wait for the DFI matx..:)
Thats DFI getting to me with their spelling, got 3 in one room:eek:
The more typos the better the board:D
They're almost always "late", we'll have to suffer.
This "Phenom FX" keeps coming up, and not with just DFI but other
mobo makers as well. Is that a hint, or Phenom BE=Phenom FX ? Does anyone have any 'inside" info ?
The Phenom FX was suppose to be a 3ghz CPU with unlocked Multi I believe,, And they are saying that if the 45nm variants do better they will again try to release a Phenom FX chip...The BE were just to give value to the 65nm line..
Edit: Anyone can feel free to correct me.. I am married and use to being wrong...^_^
Ok, first I was ready to settle for the M2RS board, but now that I've seen the LP JR 790GX, I think I'm set on my next board.
I cruised through the DFI advertisement so quickly, I didn't even notice the typos and disjointed grammar. But now that you guys mention it, "They all performs very precisely..... Core Choke's 800Khz clock is the main reason to make voltage's output become shortly.... That is why the board no need to have a bigger Capacitor anymore." :)
All the same, this board looks awesome. This will be my very first DFI motherboard; so I now look forward to reading the BIOS as well.

bottom of that page.
The good http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Good_and_evil news for true enthusiasts is that you won’t need to buy a 790GX with integrated graphics in order to reap the benefits of AMD’s SB750 southbridge. Fairly quickly we’ll start seeing 790FX-based motherboards retrofitted with the new component, bringing improved storage and overclocking to what we’d consider the true power user platform in AMD’s portfolio. The 790GX will be rightly confined to the folks able to use its integrated graphics core in a Hybrid CrossFire arrangement. In more rare cases, it may be tapped for its CrossFireX capabilities, though we’d just as soon go for one of the less expensive 790FX platforms sporting SB750. Originally we had hoped that the 790X platform would also receive some SB750 love. It’d seem to make sense as an alternative for budget-oriented gamers looking for an affordable CrossFireX setup without the need for integrated graphics. AMD doesn’t anticipate any of its partners taking that route, though.

only sb750 790Fx for now. not a bad price.
Sweet.. I will move this 790GX to my room once I see a 790FX /SB750 board I like the most...;)
You really think the 790GX boards are going to be that expensive? The most expensive one on Newegg is $149...the Foxconn you link to is over $200...and the ones on Newegg aren't even mATX boards. I don't' care that it has integrated video, it's a DFI mATX board, and that's attractive enough. The IGP is shut off with a discrete card installed, so no issue there.
If I got one of these would it be worth it getting the 9950 over the 9850? I am wondering if the 9950 would give me better overclocking potential or if it would be too small to matter vs the 9850.
I want to redo my AMD rig which is currently a 9600 and overclocked HD 3850 Crossfire.
I was thinking of selling my 9850BE that does 2.8ghz @1.2375 vcore have had it at that voltage and clock since I first got it and never tried to push further do to the fact my cat of 16 years was deathly Ill and just did not have the time to clock it for that reason and unfortunately Marshall just died after 5 months :(
I had bought a brand new 9600 BE just days before I bought this so I have a NEW 9600BE I can use besides. Let me know through PM if you are interested it has really good potential:yepp: and its new and never had voltage thrown at it not ever
The stackable SATA ports on the DFI basically sold me at first glance. I am a big fan of that. I am going to get that unless some great 790FX boards come out and are in the sub-$200 range.
As far as the "digital PWM" that I have never heard of, what is the difference as far as effectiveness? For example, I would be very very hesitant to try any kind of OC on a 4 phase PWM with a Phenom, they basically need that just for stock operation. With 4-phase digital, would there be plenty of room for upping the voltage and mhz?
http://www.amdzone.com/index.php/rev...d-790gx-review
Scroll to the bottom, the 9950 made it to 3.4Ghz while the 9850 stopped at 3.2Ghz. Oddly the 9950 appears to be using less voltage too. Mileage may vary of course.
I ordered the Foxconn A7DA-S ATX. Brother Esau, sorry to hear about your cat.
So I told Polygon the other day on Rebel forums I was going to get the Biostar GX3, but now I'm not so sure.
Here's what I want to do.
1st PCI-E slot ATI 4870 now. (4870X2 future)
2nd slot 8-lane HW or SW raid card
3rd slot PCI-E Intel 2 port network card
4th slot PCI-E sound card... probably Auzentech or maybe ASUS
I really like the 790GX boards cause they are cheap and have the onboard video, which is great for normal computer work. But I just don't think they have enough PCI-E lanes.
My issue is this, I'm not sure if the 4870X2 is max out with ver. 2.0 8-lanes or I probably should get 16 lanes for the video card. And do PCI-E raid cards use ver. 10 or can they up to ver. 2.0 PCI-E
The thing that pisses me off is that if you put a card in PCI-E slot 2 (even if it's non graphics) slot 1 gets bumped down to 8 lanes.
Why isn't it possible to select the number of lanes you want per slot from the total.
So like 790GX has 32 lanes total I believe?
slot 1 16 lanes
slot 2 8 lanes
slot 3 1 lanes
slot 4 1 lanes
NB->SB connection & Internal PCI-E Network chip 6 lanes (i think)
16+8+6+1+1=32
But noooo, I can't do that... instead it forces me to do
8x - 8x - 1x - 1x and the extras lanes go unused. :mad::shakes:
SOrry for the rant. Just frustrated. Any tips, thoughts, or musings?
ETlight
P.S. So far I got
AMD 5600+ 2.8 X2 (Deneb later :D)
8gig OCZ HTPC 1066
Windows 64-bit and Ubuntu64
Need to get or still deciding on
Sound card
raid card
Acard ram disk
intel dual network card
etc.
26 lanes total, 22 usable...
1x16/2x8 + 6 other

would a mb allow you to run 8x 2.0 PCI-E in slot 1 for video card and 8X 1.0 PCI-E for raid card?
OK soo i'm resurecting this thread ;)
Have anyone tried the new bios for the Asus M3A78-T ?
0306 BIOS for M3A78-T
1. Update Express Gate option rom to 1.3.3.1 version.
2. Fix floppy is unable to work under EZ-flash.
3. Enhance memory compatibility.
4. Fix C1E function fail.
5. Fix fail to wake up from S5 by PS/2 device.
If anyone tried it plz post some results
Has anyone been able to use the SURROUND VIEW + Crossfire
on any of the 790gx boards?
