That's friggin awesome stuff Ton!!! How come you didn't tell any of us there? I too had no damned clue what the gun was. Great work.

No one asked "why is there a gun here?" :zombie: :p:
Props to all involved...must have been a blast and a good opportunity to meet the people behind the names :)
Here are some pics from our South African Event :)
The competition was hosted by both Gigabyte & a local forum Systemshock.

Hey Gautam,
It was nice to meet you over at the contest... All the benchers were focused on the contest, so I didn't want to break the mood.
If you walked up to the case, people would have known. I put a little sign that said: "Please Do Not Touch!!! - Ton"
LOL.. well.. i guess the President of Gigabyte didn't see the sign:

- Ton
ROFL dude
i don't think you understood what i was saying
we did an overclocking event in Taiwan recently for Gigabyte and all the European overclockers invited except for Pt1t were some no names which never saw LN2 or pots or really overclocked........in fact a few of them were underclocking their systems during spring break. What my point is is that GIgabyte should really go find some proper overclockers from Europe and there are tons of great guys including the ones you mentioned
lol how could you even thing i would say something crazy like that hehehe :p::up:
Heh. You guys. No canada competition either! NOt quite a global thing, yet. I thiunk most real good clockers are Europe-based..something in the water, I think!
looks like an awesome time for all involved! congrats gomeler on the nice placing for only 2 bench's! congrats also to all the winners, thats some nice DDR3!
I didn't get many pictures but here are some. I took even fewer during the event.
Bringing the LN2.

Just figured out who you are :p:. Thanks for stinking up the room for ~30 minutes after blowing up your board :D

im a gamer but would like to play with quads and others :D do 5.5ghz would be nice ! :yepp:
LOL....hey Gom, in the 2nd pic you posted, you look like you are caressing that tank.
"Bobby, most states won't let you marry an LN2 tank".
(Hank Hill @ his first OC comp, Summer 2008)
Thats the first time ive seen someone pouring LN2 using a pot
Its DryIce, no LN2 was allowed at our venue... Hopefully we will get it right next time round... Still makes for a cool pic though :D
Thanks GHZ:) Good of Gigabyte to set all these competitions up & then one final with such an internationally diverse turn out, I mean how else would we all get to meet each other face to face  And not to mention these events are so much fun :p:
Lol iam there :D
BTW did your boards freez up? we got coldbug on the boards at like -75 my board froze up :?. and u okes use Ln2 . not to mention the coldbugs on those 9600gt's.
Yea gigabyte really fueling the overclockers here. Good job and thank u!
Coldbugs and coldboot bugs were all different due to the different processors. Mine had CBB at -98C and CB at -104C, pretty decent. My 9600GT had CB around -10C though if I had to guess, complete fail :D I can't wait to see coverage of the final event in Taipei, it'll be nuts!
Gigabyte really pulled it all out for this event, top notch all the way , had a great time meeting all of you guys
Likewise Todd :toast:
Speaking of failing :D:

Looks like GB is spoiling many of us :D
Good to know you guys had fun @ event
Just in case you haven't seen it.
Marks 3D06 run, it really is something!

I placed 2nd in the South African competition, so so close... :( Still, the winner (Flytek) Deserved it and is the best to respesent us. Congrats to everyone who made it regardless of where they placed, i had a great time and im sure eveyone else in every countries event feels the same. :)
Grats on second place, any info on your event posted yet?
Thank you Sir :)
Link
It was rather small compared to some of the other events and we were all plagued wth problems, but nonetheless it was great. :)
(PS im the guy in the red shirt, was my 1st time with Dice if you'll believe me :D)
Wuhuuu, GF allowed me to participate in this event, so now I'll try to qualify, I will make a late entry... 8-10 or 14th of August... :)
Dinos22, watch out with such comment ;)
But its true that Gigabyte havent been very well organised in Europe.... To be honest, their marketing department in Holland is operating as effeciently as ASUS in Scandinavia = not very active.... Alot of black sheeps, its about getting the right contact person, as some a full of ****.....

Beier>why don't you go backa page and read the subsequent comments again
The comment where you clearly stated you think all Europeans are n00b at ocing.
We all know you just uncovered your true feelings, and you're not getting away with it this time.
Rofl :rotf:
fugger what did you do to Gautam
you scared him for life mate hahahahah
he's thrash talking everyone in his path hahahahahahahahahaha
Sorry, it was just too much to resist. Actually I'm a big-time trash talker in RL (everyone from Boston is) and I guess I recently "unlocked" that side of myself heh.
I just found it funny you're still getting crap for what was obviously a joke lol, I made that post to make certain that no one else would misunderstand.
Chris, at least you did it in style. Note how the monitor is clearly pitch black. :D
no, monitor is behind the "steam" but its black all right XD
No, I didnt get it was a joke, come on, THINK... Its not the first post from my side both of you have read, think.... If I didnt get it, I would have bursted out in rage and been rude, as usual....
My point being, exactly as stated, watch out with such comments,.... Especially when it actually was the case that Gigabyte didnt pick the top notch.... You cleaned up the "mess" a little after, yet, just think twice how people will read it before posting....
Oh, and cut the crap using that sarcastic smiley...
(wasnt any need for this comment, but the following statement to my previous comment was arrogant as hell IMO)
*yawn* What are we complaining about again? If you took a comment out of context just ease up a bit. I think we are all getting pissy over the comment about Europeans not representing OC'ing at the last Gigabyte event? If so, it is true that for the most part they weren't hammering out 5.5+GHz runs like the Aussies but they sure as hell tested the FSB clocking and memory clocking on those boards. I'd say they did a fantastic job covering that realm of overclocking. We know Europe has plenty of guys that throw 2.0volts at 45nm processors and cackle when the magic dust is released, they just weren't there last time. No matter what though, we all had a blast and the boards were thoroughly tested/blown up. So can we get over this and focus on other things like hot chicks and fountains of liquid nitrogen?
Now, grab a beer and take a swig, it's the weekend. Kick back and enjoy yourself, there's plenty of time during the work-week to complain and moan. I know I sure do it enough :)
s7e9h3n, I had to gank that picture and project it to the wonders of Facebook. It's just too classic, shows what failure looks like :p: Must hang this on my door to remind me
i want gigabyte to pick some of these passionate guys like Beier so that we can see some REAL overclocking on the final comp if it has to be that Gigabyte cannot organise preliminaries in Europe :D
looks like at least Scandinavians are getting a proper comp to find a good OCer
i don't like the idea of picking favourites. we have to do it the hard way in Australia as well and qualify (which actually involved breaking 8M W.R. just to enter) and then beat of some serious competition to go to Taiwain............that's what everyone needs...........competition..........just like USA guys, just like Scandianvians etc etc
Beier dude just freakin let it go. i clearly did NOT mean what you're putting in my mouth so take a chill pill mate
if you guys knew what names i saw Asus is going to have end of this month for their comp in Singapore you will know what i mean
hahahah that pic of Chris with his head down is pretty good
awesome work taking such a great pic :D
ROFL
Gautam stop it man
you're killing me today with your trash talk :ROTF::ROTF::ROTF::ROTF::ROTF:
watches Marc go into overdrive heheheh
maaan you guys only need to spend an afternoon with us old timers thrash talking eachother all day long
i can't wait to finally meet hipro5 and the gang.........this will be ridiculously good ahah :D
i think we'll first warm up with wife jokes :D
Anyhow, hopefully for Gigabyte it will payoff with the qualification, because the last event was a joke on many networks/communities... Best 32M result was almost 2 min worse then a well tweaked run at same frequency, what was it.... 5.6ghz and 10min+ or so?
EDIT:
No idea who made it, but was one of the top results from the event, and many ppl wondered how the heck it was possible....
Dinos, I agree ... European overclockers suck, they suck hard. Especially those from Belgium ... aweful really aweful :rofl::rofl:
Anyway, I like this manufacturers-and-overclocking-contest thing, altthough I hope that it'll be more than just a marketing business.
they are going to have great overclockers in the final
my issue is that some regions actually pick ppl and from last time choices were ok i guess but not for this kind of context obviously which was my point. If they pick the same ppl they are doing all the skilled guys a deservice.
Beier, I don't think anyone would seriously bench a benchmark with a buggy bios with crappy efficiency which is what we had (keep in mind they received delivery of actual chipsets like 10 days before the event started) >> i didn't event bother knowing what i can expect if you know what i mean. You know somehow i still feel the sarcastic undertone in your post there as if you are somehow upset by wrongly interpreting my post and now talking about a different topic. If you are i am surprised really considering that i've explained it and many ppl have gotten it now including your countryman here.........are you still sour mate? If anything you should feel the opposite as i am critical of Gigabyte's decisions where great overclockers should be given the opportunities here rather than those who are most beneficial to local Gigabyte reps.......Do you understand?
HEHE I understand his post now :D
I was like WHAT ? The first post ever from him.
Telling my mates, he accualy made a negative comment.
:rofl::rofl::ROTF:
You are the man ;)
Sry for misunderstanding you :D
Well it is a bit sad for us to be passed over because they want them to do PR :(
Denmark is 24 :D And we SUCK at Hwbot posting :D :ROTF:
HEHE :D
Delete them all Mark ;) You are the ONLY true overclocker in denmark :D
Offended quite alot of you fellow danes there :D
Forgetting me was not kind ;)
Dinos22, not at all, just stated, several ppl got it wrong, so might be worth considering more appropriate context or using smileys or making sure its very sarcastic.. :)
Interesting post before the edit MBeier :s
you should see the PM
the guy just can't take a joke  lol
Well thank you...
Hoped no one got to read it, sadly its true... But no need for that in public.. I rest my case....
Dinos22, should have seen the PM, well copy it, its fairly short, and only states that Im unhappy with your post, nothing regarding myself, you nor anybody else.
lol more fellow Danes who can read properly
oh boy :D
GOOD to see you in here m8 :D
CHEAT :D
You properly edited the post = EASY to claim so
EDIT: Next time I see an aussy im going to kick him over the shinbone and tell him
about my mate dinos22 and his undercover attacks against denmark HAHHAHAH :D [MAKING FUN, NOT INSULTING :D]
Just try it Nos, you might just get one in return ;)
:rofl::rofl::rofl::rofl::rofl::rofl::rofl:
you guys are cracking me up
this thread is epic!!!!!
If I dident would you be an Aussi ?
I THINK NOT!!!!!!!!!!
Aussies need to drink alot of beer like Danes and Germans.
They need to catch dingoes and Cangarues once a month
And at least one time wressel with a crocedile.
If not you will be deport to singapore ? :p
Now behave or I will kick you 2 :D

No,
I am from Portugal, not from Belgium...
But I was born in Belgium .
:ROTF:
Not deported.
I just learned that the ratio of fuglies/fatchicks:hotties is far better in Singapore ;)
Oh yeah, and the tax rate is way better.
Nice spelling by the way Nos "Cangarues" lol
Id love to :(:yepp::shocked:
Now that was unique :D
For thoses of us that dont know him by name
http://www.solarnavigator.net/films_...ile_dundee.jpg
Yes I SUCK at spelling somtimes :D
I miss the setting "dyslexic" in my firefox spellcheck :D
Mostly some simple words like allot, Always forget the 2xL :)
And kangaroos is NOT a word I use alot :D
I had a GREAT laugh yesterday because of this thread :D
http://www.gigabyte2008.com
Josh warns us that LN2 is flammable...
ROFL i saw that video today lol
[edit] in Josh's defense if you read Page1 under Hazards and Risks you could interpret the second point as potentially dangerous because of the increased oxigen concentration and we all know that oxigen fuels fires right heh :D
http://www.uq.edu.au/ohs/pdfs/Liquid...enguidance.pdf
"debunker those myths"
is this thread called
Gigabyte comp
or
Gigabyte roast :D
How many Gigabyte contests are there ?
I've heard about a public contest, that is supposed to be explained here : http://oc.gigabyte.us/ (seems the server has troubles).
There are around one hundred entries in the CPUZ database with "Gigabyte_Contest" prefixed names.
Gigabyte is holding national competitions in many countries, and the winners will go to Taiwan to compete against everyone else who wins.
This thread was created for the US national one, but has evolved into the worldwide thread really.
lol josh was the one that put the blow-torch into my pot and made a huge fireball in his shed, and he thought it was so funny he did it twice!
It boggles my mind why the UK seems to never be part of anything on the international overclocking scene; we barely made it to the MSI one and never seem to get invited to any of these parties :(
What confuses me is that South Africa had one. Now no disrespect to my country or the overclockers in it, but Europe and the UK have overclockers the are more well known and in most cases more experienced.
Not that im complaing, it got me an E8500 to replace my old E8400, but still. :)
Blame your regional marketing department.
In fact, i would be tempted to get a high profile guy to email them to complain.
Its like the US group, they barely support OC'ers at all.
Tim is right
pressure has to come from users from different countries as a lot of Gigabyte regional offices don't realise which guys to get and how to even reach the right ppl
Think it may be time to apply a little pressure then....
Go on Johnny :D Bring the noise...no, really!
Flammable? So's my beard
LN2 OCing, yet another thing I can't do around open flames
Sweet Movie :D
bahahaha... i JUST saw this! wols i know! but the aussies! hahahhaa!!!!

and here i am born and bred in Singapore thinking... WTH MAN THIS AUSSIE GOT IT ALL WRONG!
more hot chicks in Taiwan u jackass! and better stop it with the hot chick thingy cuz ya gf is gonna take ur ln2 pot and chonk u in the head with it!
