BlueAqua's SuperProject: MurderMod TJ-07, MM UFO, V2000

How was the R8? I drove it at Road Atlanta at a ALMS event and was impressed. It is actually the exact same engine as my car. However, i have a few "tricks" in my bag;). I would have gotten as much time as possible in the R8, Lambo, and GT-R as they are all-wheel drive and it looks like a slick day.

Just curious and this is not intended to be a shot at you at all. I assume most of the people attending these events have very seat time in high performance vehicles such as these. I know that when I am on a track I have a 5 poitn harness and helmet at least and if I am doing some back road driving I at least wear the 5 point harness as it is a quick disconnect (read DOT approved) model. Are there any safety measures at these events such as harnesses in cars or requiring drivers to wear helmets?

EDIT: Is that a 300C V-6? That seems a little out of place among these foreign rides.

I actually loved the R8. It was a very slick car that was very responsive. It was much better than I expected it to be and just loved to be driven hard.

As far as safety measures everything was stock. No helmets or 5 point harnesses. We weren't out racing but just enjoying the cars. I think if we got pulled over and were wearing a helmet it might just look a bit too suspicious. A lot of the guys were just car enthusiasts, some owned some very nice cars, but most were just guys like myself that had never had the opportunity to drive such cars.

No worries about the off topic, that's what build logs are all about. :)

Next weekend my wife heads out of town so I'll have more time to finish it all up and hopefully take some really nice pictures of the 2 cases together.

There is more development on the TJ07 build, some very good news that everyone will see soon enough. It should be great.

I'm not going to be using the flow meter/killer or the Cuplex Pro but should have the V2000 completed shortly. I've got it running and flowing, I just need to complete the wiring and install the Aquaero. :)

I have this machine (the V2000) almost complete. I will probably sleeve the wires to tidy it up a bit, and install a few more fans in needed areas, but it's about done. I'll install the Aquaero shortly and get that going.

Feser 3/8" ID tubing. It's pretty nice, a little darker than I would have liked, but it's still pretty nice.

I'm going to use Primochill LRT 1/2" Black tubing on the TJ07. The V2000 and MM UFO are going to be boring compared the the TJ07 coming up. I'm stoked! :)

Is the lighter blue 1/4" then...just looks a bit bigger for some reason. :shrug:

I was hoping you were going to post in my thread. I think you're going to like the 3rd build maybe more than the first two. I'll try not to let you down. :)

I have Aquaero installed and everything is working great. I haven't hooked up any temperature sensors yet but will do when I have a chance and have it properly planned out.

I just need to install the rear fan, but was missing the necessary screws. My good friend Skinnee is going to hook me up there, what a guy!! :)

The rest of this worklog will be primarily dedicated to the TJ07 build. I hope you like what you see. Feel free to offer suggestions and ask questions, I'm always open for feedback.

Today I removed the stock heatpipe assembly on my Maximus II Formula. I changed the thermal paste to Arctic Ceramic. I also changed the Republic of Gamers logo around since this will be an inverted ATX oriented motherboard. The Maximus II Formula logo was also able to be switched around, but I may just remove that all together, we'll see.

Original northbridge cooler removed. Pretty poor thermal paste contact.

Hey BA...do your compression fittings fit snugly on to the NB block? I just got mine today and I put my 3/8" BP comps on it and it appears as though is doesn't sit flush against the block. I removed the stock BP O-Ring and used the bigger O-Ring that came from the included barbs. I am going to leak test later in the weak.

Again, nice pics. If my pics came out that nice I would definitely take more. :D

The compression fittings do look amazing on that block. I guess I missed the memo on the downsides of impingement blocks, although I have seen this pop up lately. Why are all but one of the top blocks all impingement then? I could have used my Aqua Computer Cuplex Evo. :yepp:

Well, the large compression fittings I have won't both fit. I think the chipset block has the same problem as the GTZ. The barb threads are recessed just a bit and I guess some have had issues with making a good seal. I'm going to have to try some stuff and perform my own tests to make sure it's right. Please let me know what you find out.

Thanks for the compliments on the pictures. That's something I'm still working on and trying to improve. I just bought a good book on Photoshop for Digital Photgraphers and it looks pretty nice. I'm going to work through the tutorials when I have spare time.

I'm sure you can still take good pictures with whatever camera you have. I've seen some pictures you've taken and I would love to see more. Please post in my thread. ;) I'd love to see what projects you're working on.

You could pick up a Canon 30D for around $600-ish (possibly lower) if you look around a bit, plus another couple hundred for a short prime lens.

Either that, or a new video card, depends on where your priorities lie :ROTF:

It took me a long time to buy a nice camera, and even then I hesitated. I had a Canon Powershot S40 for years that worked and did the job. But last fall I found a deal on a nice Canon 30d. ;) Now I just have to figure out how to use it.

I think they're both good, but I haven't put the GTZ to the test yet.

Must admit this was the first GX2 i'd seen that was watercooled and had the cover modded to fit back on which i remember thinking at the time was pure genius and replicated on my two but unfortunately they prevented me from routing the hose how i'd wanted plus i couldn't quite get the cards sit nice together so didn't use them in the end :rolleyes:

Figuring out how to use a digital SLR is simple, the hard part is taking great pictures with it (and you seem to have no problems there) :D

That TIM job doesn't surprise me on the HPS, you have to do a washer mod to it as well? Looks much better without the red alu shields too!

Thanks for the kind words Coolmiester. That means a lot coming from one of the best case modders of all time. :):) I can't take credit for the 9800gx2 mod though. Another fellow from MN came up with it and was posted in his build log. I liked the idea so much I just had to do it for myself.

I did do the washer mod on the motherboard, and I think I should hopefully have decent temperatures.


Thanks to TurtleTrax I now have a new MCP655 Ek Pump top. This is equipped with a Feser 1/2" ID 3/4" OD Compression and I think I might try the BitsPower D-plug.

Yes, 2 O-rings per barb. The extra Swiftech O-rings were a bit too big and didn't quite fit right, but I tried some Ek O-rings off of some 3/8" barbs and they worked perfect. Those along with the original BP O-ring.

Hi BlueAqua, are you using 2 o-rings to seal against the GTZ and NB block recesses? Or to provide enough "squish" to rotate the barbs to the proper angle?

Both reasons actually. I was hoping I'd get lucky and the barbs would align, but they wouldn't. Since the Swiftech GTZ and chipset block have a recessed o-ring there is a gap that needs to be filled. With only one O-ring the metal is pressed right against the derlin, and I doubt the O-ring is compressed at all. So an extra O-ring not only ensures it'll seal but also provides a little more play so I could align the barbs. It worked out really well I have to say. We'll see if it leaks or not since O-ring to O-ring isn't necessarily a good thing.

Yeah that's what I figured. Those recesses can be irritating now that the market has moved to recessed fittings. Maybe put lube on those o-rings in case rubber on rubber friction cause them to stretch in funny and bad ways, if you haven't already? :up: Will you switch to BP swivel 90s when they're available again?

I like the non rotary fittings if you can get away with them, less bulk. I might get a few fittings to play with, but I don't have any plans for any additional fittings.

That Aqua Computer case is completely designed by myself. I worked with Jim at Smooth Creations about 4 years ago and when the V2000 came out I knew it would be the perfect canvas. I basically told him what I had in mind, had a few photoshopped pictures and he did the rest. The main paint is actually Diamond Graphite and looks amazing. I still think it's one of my most favorite purchases in all of my years with this hobby. And yes, the finish is a very high quality show car finish, I even wax it from time to time. :)

I'm waiting on some stuff for my TJ07 rig and I got bored. I found a deal on a really nice Rocketfish case and thought I'd fix it up. I really don't know what I'm going to do with this yet, but I figured, "What the hell." I'll fix it up.

In that picture it is Tygon 3603 3/8" ID 1/2" OD. I'm actually pleasantly surprised just how good it still looks. We'll see after a year or so, who knows, maybe even more.

Hey with that feser liquid, is it dye or PRE-MIXED coolant?

Does it stain? Any gunk build up in the system?

I used the Feser dye before and it stained my tubing but so far the pre-mixed has been flawless for me. I'm actually surprised just how well it still looks. Only time will tell though how it will do.

I just played with some of the settings in photoshop when importing a raw photo. I think it was sharpness, maybe contrast. I'm not really too familiar with it yet, but am learning. If you have any good tips, let me know.

Thanks Eddie! I think it almost looks rendered too, looks almost too perfect for it to be real. If you look at the larger picture you can see imperfections easier, I think it's just mostly some dust and what not.

Getting a DSLR was a hard step to make, but once you have one you cannot live without it. It's a purchase that I truly enjoy.

hi BA. i hope you don't mind me asking some questions about your TJ07.
did you buy the left side panel without the window separately or did it come stock?
for the right side panel, did you buy it from silverstone already with window or did you have to mod it yourself?
i'm planning to do an inverted atx configuration on my build with TJ07 for better tube routing. but after i checked my case yesterday:
the left panel had the window and the right panel didn't.
and the panels are not interchangeable because of the 'latches'.

My window is getting specially water jet cut. I originally bought the TJ07 black with no window. Once having a window makes it really tricky to switch to reverse atx. I should be receiving my case in the next few weeks, the whole thing needed some upgrades. :):)

I also got my new PowerColor 4870 X2 in. I fired it up but had so many issues with artifacts. It didn't matter if I had the fan speed at 100% and underclocked or overclocked. My 9800GX2 in the same board worked great, I just don't know what was going on with it. I sent the behemoth of a card back today and should be getting another one shortly. Not really a big deal because I don't have the case yet, but something I'd rather not deal with.

I wish I had some more updates for you guys and I'd hate to clutter this thread more with a little htpc rebuild I'm doing too.

If anyone needs any TJ07 measurements or ideas with specific parts let me know. I have an empty shell here not really being used.

That sucks your X2 was DOA... but a good thing your case is not ready yet. I guess the only thing that can make a bad card suck less is good timing :D

that damn X2, we slapped it in the test bench over at my place last night. the thing is weird, underclocked it kinda worked, 2 MHz overclocked seemed to work...but it kept hard-locking Windows. Good to see you just said to hell with it and sent it back though. That thing was going to be a PITA for as long as you owned it.

The Feser fluid (premixed) looks as good today as it did 2 months ago. I'm really impressed with it. The only thing I'm not ecstatic about is the fact it costs $20 a liter.
