ROFL
what the hell is that :ROTF:
Is that a world record? :p:

What the hell Tweaktown?????
Gigabytes build quality is second to none, ive had all the manufacturer boards and non are built like gigabyte, i use them for all my builds for customers.
I Can't See!!!!!
Dear god above in heaven!!!!!!!!

It'll fit in to the standard case right?, seems to just take up one PCI slot, sheer madness....i love it!! :D

Gigabyte EP45 Extreme board exposed

TweakTown was given the opportunity to be the first publication in the world to see and photograph Gigabyte’s upcoming motherboard targeting extreme overclockers, the EP45 Extreme. This board will be quite different to the rest of Gigabyte’s P45 based motherboard and the board we were shown was the first board off the production line and as such, is a very early sample. The most obvious feature of this motherboard is the humongous heatsink sitting above the first PCI slot. This is based on a similar construction idea to Gigabyte’s passive Silent-Pipe 3 and works the natural convection method and draws hot air out of the case without any noise.
In saying that, Gigabyte isn’t really intending for this motherboard to go into a case, as there will be a fairly limited run of these boards. The EP45 Extreme is Gigabyte’s answer to the Foxconn Black Ops board, although with a different chipset and as such is intended for bench use. This is why Gigabyte is planning to supply a LN2 duct for the CPU and a watercooling module for the chipset. The large heatsink can be removed, as it is secured with four screws on the top of the chipset cooler. This is partly done to make it easier to ship and transport the board, but also to allow for the watercooling module to be attached in an easy way.

As a concept...it's cool, but hardly practical. The PCB layout is, strange to say the least. But as they say it's intended for benching etc.
EP45-DQ6 for me.
Anything about P45 TDP yet? That chipset cooling is kind of alarming...
This air crap is annoying.
I am glad gigabyte is planning on WCing for the NB.
I hope that all of this extreme OCing gear will really see a bright future when LGA1366 is release.
Still amazing just to look at! COPPER!!!!!
it looks removable
that's good for possible compatibility issues fitting in some cases i guess
i look forward to that DQ6 board to give me DDR3 RAM hell!!!! :D hahaha
Dino, it clearly says removable in both my post and tweaktowns article. :P
This board is targetted squarely at us extreme benchers who are most likely to be using phase or pots on a benchtop.
The BIOS which a few people will be reviewing next week is supposedly insanely full of options and (finally) every voltage readout you could possibly want.
I'll find out ASAP if there will be a DDR3 version, i'll be bitterly dissapointed if not.
where's that sexy time photo when you need it....

that's funny, sort of.
im still worried that the nb will be too hot...:ROTF:
Can someone PLEASE get a pic of the EP45-DQ6...will she differ much to the DS5 version?, based on previous boards, not that much....save for being 12 phase, still wanna see some pics!
So what's the word on heatoutput on the P45 chipset ? same level as X38 ? Cooling device looks cool but if that's real copper that's gonna be a heavy mofo of a mobo... good they've foreseen a connection to screw it onto the case... now if they added a watercooling block too in the box this is a definite buy for me...

Eight PCI Express 2.0 lanes equal the performance of x16 PCI Express 1.1, providing 4 GB/s upstream and 4 GB/s downstream bandwidth to and from the graphics board.

looks like even pci-e 2.0 8X hinders ONE 9800GX2Quote:
The dual GPU GeForce 9800 GX2 card requires at least x8 PCI Express 2.0 to deliver high frame rates. Going to x4 link mode clearly bottlenecks the graphics flagship.

benchmarks of the G45 pls. :D
thanks for the contribution OBR
High res... Sure, the resolution is high, but the focus is crap :p:
Numbers please.
Yeah, this is only first shot ... i will make better for reviews later ... BUT i am sure every of these board are DEAD! On this planet does not exists fully working Gigabyte P45 board (except Giga factory) ... but one with working PCIe is on the way to me (Extreme One) ... results later.
no DQ6? ;)
gotta save something for later hey hehhe
Any chance of closeups of the EP45-DS5?, so we can see the layout/chips better?
Sooo many sata ports I will never use, but I'm likin the ds5. Perhaps there is a dq6? =P
I'm confused by that DS5, 6 SATA ports (yellow) controlled by the Intel ICH10R, ok. Then we have 2 Silicon Image controllers, SiI5723...each chip controls 2 Purple ports....thus 10 in total.
So how the hell are they supporting IDE and the PCI bus?, the labeled "Gigabyte SATA II" chip is actually a rebranded Jmicron controller...but what chip is it?, JMB363 or JMB368?....if it's 368 then that acts as a PCI-E to IDE controller, which will give it IDE support.
So, how the hell are they getting PCI bus support?, i see no chips that function as this, unless this Jmicron chip is new and is acting as an IDE and PCI bus controller.
OBR....give us some insight.
Something else i noticed, the solid capacitors no longer have the black plastic shrouder around them, they like support the capacitor on the PCB.
GA-G45M-DS2H looks sweet!
xcept for those s-ata ports!
ny specs on it? pci express 2.0 x16?
Why can't they put the Floppy connector at a 90 degree angle????????
Hold on...do i see bios flash parts located close to the Silicon Image chips?, does that mean then that we/consumers can flash the bios/firmware on these chips as needed?
today tedailed pictures ... wait

Nice ones too, thanks OBR :D
There are definately bios flash chips for the Silicon Image controllers....so we should be able to flash the firmware as and when new revisions become available.
The Power/Reset/Clr CMOS buttons are in a bad location, they should located higher up the PCB...next to the front panel header connectors.
Any new info or pics?
i am testing now AMD nForce 780a platform, result of first working P45 later this week ...
Heh I was just going to say 'DFI BIOS with Gigabyte pricing'
Are you sure you don't mean ICH8 supported 4 instead of ICH9? I remember one of the improvements in ICH9R was that it could do 6 drive RAID arrays, surely it can do 6 drives in AHCI as well.
If that GA-G45M-DS2H is going to be real kick ass board and no such Vcore droop like GA-G33M-DS2R is having then I´m definetely going to upgrade my HTPC´s mobo.
BTW, what is this chip on GA-EP45-DS4:
http://mato78.com/images/stories/GA-...711_sample.jpg
Is there pencil Vdrop mod for this mobo GA EP45 DS3P?!
Thanks!
