How's that?:p:

well i can say my new quad is doing its work, after getting it installed and fixing the resource share to run wcg 70% of the time i have more than quadrupled my previous daily output :D
used to do ~300 avg daily now its @ ~1400 (boinc points)
Crazy!!!!

Only a minor 10k behind our friends :yepp:
I have 2 more Quads to put online tomorrow afternoon...so in 2 days time, we will be further in front :D
We would have done it if i did not have to send in my memory to crucial for rma. :(
I'll have a quad up soon. So hopefully it helps!
I'll have a total of 8 cores on my mini-farm. :D
i've been keeping my system on over night instead of shutting it off, for a lil over a month now i've been getting projects that take longer and my points/projects seems to have gone down a lot and i need to crunch 24/7 to keep up with what i was doing 15/7.
Damn! Only 10K away? Bahhh.
Still, I'm mighty happy with us being over 5 mill most days. Very strong, very nice!
I'm expecting a quad arriving tomorrow. Maybe. With another perhaps a few days behind it.
So that will help, some.

The cruncher I just posted in the "Pics of your Farm" thread got taken down today to redo the TRUE, and a few other things. I was getting very high temps on Core(s) 0 and 1.
So I redid the mount and this time instead of putting cardboard between the bracket and the HS I used a washer that I superglued to the bracket. I went with Shin Etsu instead of MX-2, as well. So, I'm very interested in seeing how the temps look when I get it back up in a little bit. This was my fastest machine at one point and I'd like to get it back "up there".
I also mounted an eSata bracket to the front panel, and am moving my soundcard into this rig. I took a few more pics of it and will post them in that thread.
This will be my "main rig" in the back of the house.
Onward and Upward!
Have you lapped any of the TRUE's you use? I have 2, both lapped, one has a washer glued to the bracket also. The other is the newer version and doesn't need it to be tight. But both of the them had a very rounded base. Lapping gave me about a 5 dergree drop across all cores. They are a pain to lap as holding them flat is awkward, but definitely worth it. Also, I have the Xigmatek S1283 cooler on one of my quads, and it performs real well. Just under the TRUE's performance, no need for lapping, and is $26 right now at mwave. You just need to get the bolt through kit as it come with push pins.
I'm planning to lap mine, any tips?
Take your time. If you rush you'll end up rounding things yourself.
Thanks, what's the recommended grits to go through?
I want mine to be a flat, mirror-like surface. :D
You're right, lapping a TRUE is a major pain. Hard to get a grip, hard to get even pressure across the whole surface. I did one... :)
The last three coolers I bought were Tuniq's. Two of them in their boxes, awaiting chips. I've heard the Xigmatek mentioned, just not much. Pretty good, eh? I may have to try one. That is if I ever build another rig...
~~
I'm kinda intrigued by the latest Noctua. Not cause I believe it can beat a TRUE, but does come somewhat close. What I'd really like to try is the version for S771. I have a real crap arrangement on one of my dual Clovers and would love to improve it.
:D
Since you asked, yes.
I use 4 grits only. I don't care for mirror finish, only flatness. http://images6.theimagehosting.com/100_2426.th.JPG So you see, 220,400,800 and 1000, along with the surface I work on.
I tape the paper down http://images6.theimagehosting.com/100_2428.ed7.th.JPG this just simplifies things so much
the thing needs lots of 220 work http://images6.theimagehosting.com/100_2429.99e.th.JPGsuper convex center and concave outer, some say figure 8 but I like back and forth, rotating the cooler 45 degrees every 15-20 strokes, hold the cooler with only enough pressure to prevent chatter or tipping
finally ready to start with 800 grit http://images6.theimagehosting.com/100_2441.th.JPG when the plating begins to disappear I make the reference lines so I can visually gauge my flatness as I progress, water on the paper becomes more important at this stage to eliminate chatter
almost ready for the 1000 http://images6.theimagehosting.com/100_2445.ecd.th.JPG so slow, now I wish I did more 220 :D by this point I am sanding only in one direction, rotating the cooler 180 degrees every 20 or so and being careful to apply even pressure
wooo hoo finally the 1000 http://images6.theimagehosting.com/100_2449.f7f.th.JPG I am pleased with this result
this is my 'polish' http://images6.theimagehosting.com/100_2450.50e.th.JPG like I mentioned, I don't care about mirror, just flat, clean and cool is ok
close enough for rock and roll http://images6.theimagehosting.com/100_2453.th.JPG :yepp:
Nice post loonym:up:
I just installed BOINC on my new quad so this will improve my numbers. Running on stock tho. Need to get two more machines up (1x 2.6 P4 & 1x 3.0 P4).
Also, is 50°c very bad for my quad while boinc is running? I have the fan throttled down as much as I can to recude any noise.
I am back up and crunching a E8400at 4.05GHz (board limiting)after some time off... I am back baby!
Next a E8500 and a Q9450
no though I just ordered a EVGA 790i Ultra and OCZ DDR3-1600 Platinum 2x1GB for testing and I am stoked about it - also a PANTONE Huey color calibrator
Something went down yesterday...

XtremeSystems 4,269,494
My numbers were down around 20% too...
Everyone's numbers were down. 2CH also did a 'meager' 9M.
EDIT: That probably is because ESL is dropping in production again.
Hell of a day gentlemen!

wow, congrats Victor! One heck of a day for you!
congrats... :D
Congratulations Victor!
something's wrong with my credit : 89000
and still no pie ...
Good work, another 5M day

Not a bad day at all  shame just below the 5M though...but we have really stepped up from a few weeks back
XtremeSystems 5,032,396
Nice work
One of my q6600@3.6ghz went down yesterday, but I also got an X3350@3.6ghz up. Today I fix my q6600 but only to 3.5ghz .. somehow my OS got corrupted so I had to back it down a little... give it a few days then my daily output should get a slight boost. I think I'm still 1-2 quads behind Bob.
Total count: 11 quads, 1 C2D and a lappy .. my light bill last month = $389 (and it's still not summer in texas yet)
Wifey's mouth was dropping when she saw that .. lolz
Another +5M day...woohoooo
XtremeSystems 5,047,404
Great job everyone...
It's great to be part of such a team!!!
On a side note, as of yesterday:
Users Returning Work : 256/735 (34.83%)
I have my new q6600 crunching now that should help the numbers stay up, along side the other slower, much slower crunchers I have going........
Wow, you guys should move to the Arctic or Northern Russia or Canada or something, otherwise you'll start burning in summer ^^
Honestly I am already scared of temps rising with my one SS rig (outside 15C, inside 26C - and I didn't even touch the heating in my office once during the whole winter :D )
On a more addicted note, I think Wes' ST and my Dual Harper will help increase our team output some more :)
Ahaha wow. So wait this 5million score is XS's daily output? :P correct me if i'm wrong there.
Anyways I just joined the WCG . Part of this grid. My specs as below. I will have an additional P4 dual core joining in (sister's computer).
Hmmm my Crucials going under crunching. lolol
Btw... I have a couple projects completed with "ready to report", am I right to assume that it reports automatically?
haha :P nice
haha i'm itching to buy a new cpu now ^^
Yup, it'll run fine on there. I'm typing this on one of those boards with a 3.4 quad running in it. It should run alot higher... temp is the only thing holding me back atm, needs a lapping and something a little better than this ninja+. I think Paladin is running one at 3.6 with the same board too.
me > lost haha
You can't blame the kitties for wanting to snuggle up to a nice warm quad core. Like many of us, they find the throbbing power of an oc'ed quad too much to resist.
OK, maybe "throbbing" wasn't the best word I could have chosen.
lol
Sadly we did not get to 5M...something must be wrong... :shakes:
XtremeSystems 4,814,549
Let's push it for tomorrow
Interesting little factoid. The Q6600 is now the number one CPU on the grid, based on BOINC credits.
http://boincstats.com/stats/host_cpu...hp?pr=wcg&st=0
Interesting and just noticed this:
Pos.
CPU............................................... ......... Average credit per CPU second
1 Intel(R) Core(tm)2 Quad CPU Q6600 @ 2.40GHz.......0.004894
97 Intel(R) Xeon(R) CPU X5350 @ 2.66GHz...............0.004828
The clovers can still hold their own with the quads..almost..:D
The interesting statistics are these:
#1 to 3 in credit per cpu second.. Beasts!
Intel(R) Core(tm)2 Extreme CPU X9770 @ 3.20GHz ....0.008211
Intel(R) Core(tm)2 Extreme CPU X9775 @ 3.20GHz.....0.006867
Intel(R) Core(tm)2 Extreme CPU X9650 @ 3.00GHz.....0.006600
I wouldn't take any of that as gospel as I'll bet there are a lot of stock quads that drop the Q6600 number and not many OC'd X5350's..
The second set of numbers I think shows higher to the Q6600's than it would if compared to just XS machines.

Users Returning Work : 258/738 (34.96%)
Not too shabby for only a shade over 250 users. Now we just need to get back up over 5 mil a day...
Don't suppose you wanna send one my way ;) I've got a spare 680i board with a few gig of RAM that's just begging for a quad :D Or any CPU for that matter :p:
Eller
hahaha having said that. I'm sure you dont' want to pay for logistics to send a cpu over to china do you? :P kekeke.
hmmm yea. would be nice to see 5 million pop up again. and continuously for that matter. Hmmmm, right now i'm doing any project that WCG dishes me out (aka AID, cancer, dengue etc.)
Shipping from Australia to Hong Kong (or visa-versa) isn't that much, and certainly a hell of a lot less than what it'd cost to buy a quad here :p:
Eller
yea australia is pretty killer in hardware. crazy man.
being from australia... it makes me cry haha. returning for uni >_< where shall i look to for my hardware fever. hahaha
Ok, back on track!!!

Excellent Team!, a little over 200 people doing 5mil a day, now this is what XSDC is all about.
And a very special thank you to our Big Guns for their massive investment in our team.
Don't let Bush see you say that. o_o
:D
Another great day for Victor.

Team did okay too, though I'd like to see us push it well past 5 million/day.

Whoo :D gjgjgjgj 5mil + yay!
cinco millones
Didnt quite get to the 5M, but close...

We need to crunch hard on Friday in honor of Titinho's late father. Bring all the fire power you can.
Hmmm maybe another quad will be joining in on that day? Shall see.
*hint-zor*
I will have my latest one on line by then too...get home late tonight from my latest trip and will make it run tonight :D
This just arrived today so it shouldn't be long to get it crunching for a day before the build this weekend.
BTW the A-Data 4gb cl4 kit is only $80 at newegg.
I am adding 1-1/2 quads this weekend.
