3D06 WR was done on 5.85GHz+ CPU Clock. I have seen you posting that your CPU can only do 5.65GHz+, that might be a problem, if you want to break that record.
But you have some advantages too... WR was done @ low FSB and old DDR2.
Maybe on your bench, you can work arround it by using DDR3 with insane clock / latency, and a higher FSB. Might be the way to go :)

I just did the full transformation (before it was 100% stock) so the overclock fun just has to come (but I won't go to crazy this time because its my main card). Before (@stock fan100%) it did 850MHz core now it does 890MHz with stock bios 1.15v. Try to shorten the legs of the caps, i think they will higher the ESR dramatically.
Do you have a datasheet of the caps? What ESR they're rated at?

No, the watercooling and the better VRM cooling did raise the maximum overclock. The capacitor mod didn't (alltough not with stock 1,15v, only thing I tested).
I don't ESR rating of those capacitors, I just let them ordered at a local specialized electronic shop. The man form the shop ordered them form a wholesaler in the UK it took quite some time searching for 8 capacitors with the right value that were in stock in the wholesaler.
Can someone confirm that long legs of a capacitor causing a significant higher ESR?
My overclock results:
1,20v > 910MHz
1,25v > 940MHz
1,30v > 970MHz
1,35v > 985MHz
What's a safe 24/7 voltage for my card?
I have to do more testing but I was thinking of a 1,3v bios @ 950MHz.

btw, my card (2900pro) does 865/1200 3dmark03 stable / stock air / 1.15v -2.2v (stock). 1200 mem is sweet, but not sure about the gpu. No point in looking for another 2900pro (for xfire) if this one hasn't got any REAL potential.;)

Sorry for my late replies guys but I'm too busy with work PLUS that I encode a LOT of problems with my hardware lately.......:(
My Retail QX9650 is dead (5720MHz 2k6)..... :(
My 2900XT was left in it's place wet without drying it (about a month ago) and it got corrosioned and it never boot up again (one led it always on).... :( I then insulated another one, and it had cold bug up to -48*C and with the mods went to -104*C so NO WAY to bench @1300MHz core..... :(
I then insulated another one that did decent 1300MHz and I was ready....TILL YESTERDAY.... I was placing the VGAs onto the mobo when esdee knocked my door.....He wanted something and when he got it and was leaving, he goes to me: "I don't think that after I go your VGAs won't work and blame me?"....THAT was it....Closing the door behind him, I then continue to the installation.....I heard a "criiick" from Vince's VGA....After testing them....NO 3D out of it and artifacts..... :(
The people who knows esdee with sympathise me.... :)
I then uninstall the heatsink and stuff from my other VGA (the second one I had during Plaisio Event - you* guys remember - and I re-insulated and mod it too.....Tested it and I'm OK - FOR THE TIME BEEN -
I had few LN2 so I only did 2 tests in 2k6 until tomorrow that I'll go and get some..... :)
I just hope esdee won't come tomorrow (he hadn't come over a month since yesterday).... :(

GT1 in 2k6 was about 100fps at ONLY 5600MHz CPU
At this point I would like to ask a BIG sorry from KINC.....Why?....Because I show with my own eyes that - EVEN at LOW CPU frequency - GT1 CAN be EQUAL with GT2 in 2k6 with high clocked 2900s......
Only a screenie for now.... 1st VGA is at 1300/1030 and 2nd is at 1300/1050......Tomorrow the rest....I think that we will have a "battle" with NVIDIA...... :)
so sorry for all the harware troubles, that's why extreme benching is much much harder than it seems, something always goes wrong.
