indeed, i'll try and make a bios with only 3d voltage change
about atiwinflash, it's very weird, i used it twice, but now it won't work:confused:
i'll try atiflash thanx

Just so you guys know dicussion of undervolting can lead to a ban here this is XtremeSystems after all, if it ain't die'in you ain't try'in. :ROTF:
hopefully the crossfire clocking can be easier with these modded bios's this generation of cards have tremendous potential.
I have tried the sapphire bios from "the-strokes" but it doesnt work on my Powercolor 3850 512MB so can anyone mod my bios please? :)
cheers
Yeah I couldnt get the HIS BIOSes to work on my Sapphire either, best is to get your actual BIOS modded. Checksum issue no doubt but that is above my head...
here is sapphire hd3850_512 bios with stock 2d and 1.33v 3d voltage
btw there is no option in P5K to boot from usb drive? this is rediculus, i can't flash a ****** bios:mad:
hmm yeah it is very strange indeed if it doesn' support usb boot
as far as i can see there is only floppy drive option, i'll try and see if it boots from usb when floppy is selected
edit: indeed it works, i had legacy usb support disabled that was all
feel free to throw me the tomatoes:p:
now what's the syntax to use with atiflash?

:toast: a million thanx to all of you for your help and patience
got it to flash, but i'm only getting 1.27v 3d:confused:
this is not worth it, i'll do the hardmod and be done with it
@ least i can do 810mhz core now
I have a P5K, all you do is set HD as first priority and set the usb drive as 1st HD. All under boot menu
yes i got it now, thank you, my problem was that i had usb legacy support off, and couldn't set the removable drive as udb drive.
it's all sorted now:)
last time i flashed vga bios was with a 9800pro @ xt, and this was the first time i had to boot from a usb drive:D
you people here @ xs are too good/patient with dumbheads like me:D
Hi, my card is HIS HD3850 512M IceQ3Turbo X, i have tried the HIS3850_512MB_3870volt.zip provided by BO FOX, the voltage indicated by Rivatuner is just the same as HD3870, but it seems that the OC ability doesn't improve much, i can only get around 770M hz for the max core speed, so is there some limit in the bios to go beyond 777Mhz? Or my card itself is not good for OC? Here is my default bios:
Question:
Is there a bios for Sapphire 512 with 3d at 1.33v that's confirmed working?
If no, is there anyone that could overvolt through bios? Couse it seems that everyone's trying but only 2 ppl on 1000 could do it and don't know why.
so finally somebody can post here
unlocked bios for sapphire 3850 256mb with changed only the 3d voltage ?
i have posted one here, only that it gives 1.274v and not 1.33v 3d:(
are u sure is that unlocked ?
Can someone mod this to 1.33v thanks!!!
btw tried most of the modded 512 bioses and they all give no video output i have to blindflash to original.bin so i guess i have to use gecube bios.....?
Here is what rivatuner is telling me my voltage is... That cant be right is it??

thanks for this... Ive got the non 'X' Turbo 3850 and was stable at 777/1000 with default BIOS/voltage. Flashing with your modded volt BIOS took me up to 810/1000 stable in Crysis, and 823/1100 stable in the ozone fur benchmark.
Cant wait for the next ATItool... Im sure this thing will fly with just a tad more voltage and better cooling, which is my next step.
I have the same card. With more voltage, it will fly:

Could someone please mod my bios to 1.33V :)
big thx in adv
Done! Took me only 5 minutes to edit it.. wow, it's easy once you understand the hex editing and the tables. The checksums are identical but you'll have to use Rivatuner for overclocking. Here it is with the description:

Strange.. my card was running Bioshock, The Witcher, CoD4, etc.. at 800 MHz all day long yesterday when my brother was indulging in those new games during his Xmas visit. Are you able to run any games at 800Mhz? The other guy 'motox' recently posted here that he could do Crysis at 810 MHz with my modded HIS bios. I'm sure that I can do all of those games at 810 MHz but since Quake3 crashed at 820 MHz, I chose to back down to 800 Mhz just to be safe, which is already within 2% of known limit for stability.
Also, what was your previous max OC with your default bios? How much did my bios help your OC?
thanks a million for your help!
But it seems that overclocking doesn't work anymore (tried with rivatuner and CCC ... clocks can not be applied))
I don't know whats wrong
That's a first that oc'ing wont work with RT. Was CCC overclocking already unlocked before you upgraded the bios? Just asking because I know that mine was already unlocked and RT still worked. It gave me 1100 extra points in 3Dmark03 and 150 in 3dmark06. How about trying AtiTool to see if it works?
If nothing works, maybe a reinstall of the drivers would do it? Or upping the clocks in your BIOS but that would be a big pain in the neck to find the OC limits that way.
ATi Tool works... thanks! :)
Oh, great! How much can you oc with ATiTool? Don't forget to verify the overclock in Rivatuner monitoring! Just in case it still didnt work I did another bios edit but this time the idle voltages are the same as 3850's default. Only the 3D load voltages are at 1.327v, equal to 3870's. Maybe it would work with CCC and/or Rivatuner overclocking.

Those 1.24 are fine? or are they suppose to be 1.33?
Yeah, it should be fine since your default bios shows 1.01v in Rivatuner. Do you want me to change that to 1.33v also?
if u can ... :P Prolly wont help but worth a shot??
Did u use my original.bin file to mod or the other guys gecube bios? Cause i flashed back to my original bios as 750 is not even stable now... O_o
when I tried to flash my 3850 bios with winflash everything just freezed, after reset card was fine with the old bios, why ?
Hey OS, I executed the HexCmp, and for some reason on first run it did a NETSH command. That's uh, scary. It was too fast for me to see what it did, but do you have any clue as to why it would do that?
EDIT: SON OF A BLKSFDLKJWE:LKRJWL:KJ. There is a VIRUS in that file! Dude, seriously, I'm an idiot for trusting anything posted up here, but seriously.... WTF? ?!!?
This time, I made sure it's from your ORIGINAL GeCube bios, with everything set at 1.33v--even in low-power mode it will be running at full voltage, so your card will be warm all the time. Make sure to set the fan speed to 60% or higher in Rivatuner.

It's a mass mailer infected .exe. Look for pmxgl32.dll; It will now be in your shell init if you installed the program. It will also created a couple random named .dlls in your system32 directory. They will probably have a create date of 2/1/2004. Avast isn't upped yet, so it doesn't know about it.
I downloaded mine from a different source.. and it's not an installer. I searched for pmxgl32.dll and it's not on my PC. It's a stand-alone .exe and i scanned it again with another program.. and it's clean. You prolly got yours from a bad, dirty source   (j/k with that evil laughter)

HEY, wtf is wrong with you man, i scanned the file after i read this with NOD and AVG, it turned up nothing, plus, it's not an installer, it's a direct EXE, check first before accusing blindly.
Could anyone confirm if the file indeed puts in that dll file after being executed?
Just an info ... that dll is a WELL KNOWN mass mailer, it can be had from a LOT of sources, but seriously, check before accusing me of anything, someone please confirm to shut him up .
no problems here, no pmxgl32.dll and i had scanned the zip with nod32 before i opened it

OK, to end this soap opera, we need the administration to test the file pointed out by Truckchase please, if they find that it installs a Trojan, then by all means, ban me, if not, then i would demand a warning to Truckchase, and for your information, i excuted the file dizzillion times, and it never installed ANY DLLs or viruses, or weird files.
And i think this is the best solution, and till then, please keep this thread on topic, cause this is getting rediculous!
I paid ;) . I read the thread dozens of times, flashed lot's of bioses from this thread, including mine modded. But now I had this "doubt" and I wanted to post to ask you if it was a normal value of vgpu with RT (never checked voltages with RT before). I know you can't pass 1.29 via bios. Only asking and sharing with you this info, that's all.
Hapy holidays, and thanks you all for your work
Thank you very much for that one! Cards now run at 776/1026.
However, when usin CCC Advanced and looking at the Overdrive tab I get the message:
"ATI Overdrive capabilities have not been properly initialized yet. Please try again later"
Any clues of how to solve that? I have cleaned all drivers and reistalled it again, did not solve anything.
Thanks in advance!

EDIT: The service 'ATI Smart' is set to automatic, however, it only starts för a second then it stops again.
well it would seem that whenever the frequencies are programmed in the BIOS...as all of us have experienced here OVERDRIVE gets weird and stops working at least halfway. With the bios I edited the max on core was 730 in overdrive...since I programmed the bios to go above 730...I think OVERDRIVE is just totally freaking out. So, I dont think its nothing major. As Im trying to just hard lock in the frequencies without having to do any clock changes once I find whats stable =)
Flashed to your bios ealier and can confirm the same overdrive problem , i have a bios that doesnt break overdrive thats clocked 760/1000 with 1.33 3d , think its the only one i have tried that overdrive still works with , its the one i linked to on the first page , its not 71 bios with fixed max core thing , maybe thats why overdrive still works with it
Anyway im using your bios as its close to my max core 785 ish and 1035 , so its leaves a bit of headroom
cheers :)
Good thinking. :D I have the same opinion as you.
Before testing this one I had a bios with something like 766/1000 and max for me in Overdrive was 770/xxxx. In that case Overdrive worked but as I was already (almost) maxed out already it was just to leave the settings for clocks alone and keep benching. ;)
I will keep your bios for awhile and see how it works for me.
chrisf: Is 785mhz max for you becasue of the voltage or temps?
GenTarkin you made a brilliant work with this bios for hd3850 256MB.
can u modify for me 3d mem @1ghz and give a link ? . anything else is just perfect.

os008, wanna be a bit more calm about this? Nobody's pointing a gun at you or threatening a ban.
Just checked the directly linked HexCmp on http://virusscan.jotti.org/ (which uses a bunch of different scanners) and it turned up "clean" . That ofcause doesn't mean it can't be infected... maybe the scanners used there just don't know the virus yet (which on the other hand I find hard to believe if it's a "well known" massmailer).

Great job .
THX man . you are boss

Request :-)
Please, could someone link moded (higher gpu voltage) bios for Asus 3850 512MB ?
Regards
Hello,
Maybe stupid to ask if you already did this so many times, but i can not modify my own bios, and my bios collection is very limited because i have 2 x HD3850 Sapphire 512Mb with Samsung 1.0NS chips.
I got one bios here, it is a original Sapphire bios already modded with 1.33Voltage on the core normally but none of the clock speeds where changed.
If somebody would be so kind to modify this bios to 800/1000 with 1.33 voltage on core and some 5-10% more voltage on memory then stock.
Also a qeustion was, can you edit the fan speeds ? The i would have the fan fixed on 60% in 2D and 3D.
Another thing is, i don't know if this bios is modified to pass the 777 lock on the 3850's, so look after that if you can :).
So in short:
3D = Core @ 800Mhz / Fan @ 60% / Voltage @ 1.33V
3D = Mem @ 1000Mhz / Fan @ 60% / Voltage @ 2.0V
2D = Core @ 600Mhz / Fan @ 45% / Voltage @ 1.22V
2D = Mem @ 800Mhz / Fan @ 45% / Voltage @ 1.8V
Checksum corrected and 777 lock gone ?
If somebody can make this for me i'm VERY happy !!
Bios : http://www.megaupload.com/?d=QMOMVBCV
I dont think mem voltage can be modified in BIOS, also Im not sure where you code the fan speed either. Also...getting a completly unlocked BIOS would require you finding the v71 for your card type.
If there is indeed a 77x mhz lock on these cores thats interesting cuz my core goes to 770...anything above it locks in 3d. Im using the v71...
cuz AFAIK there is only a 860mhz lock in bios's for 38xx cards....
anyone have more on this ?
Oke, then the lock only is @ 860 for all the 38XX cards.
I will test how good my cards will overclock on core and memory, no need to modify the bios then, if i'm ready with testing i will post my own bios here and then somebody can modify it for me. The i buy other coolers for my cards and flash them with the bios some XS member has made for me here.
I will keep you updated ;) .
That would be lovely.
It would be nice if you could extend the range of Overdrive as well. The original BIOS I posted limits you to 730 in OD. I flashed in a Powercolor BIOS and I had up to 770 available in OD. I'd like the same range available as a 3870, and I don't expect to do that. It would be nice if I could get 800 though.
Right now if I set 765 and run 3dmark06 I get a crash near the end of the bench because the driver "stops working". Voltage may very well help.
I don't get any corruption just a freeze and hang. I really suspect voltage.
Hello,
Just tested, and 750/1000 gives no artifacts, so 800/1000 would be great.
I only get driver problem all the time if i want to run 3DMark or games...
So if somebody can change my bios to 800 core (1.35V) and 1000 memory (2.0V). I saw that the voltage of the memory could be changed in the bios of a HD3870, so i think it can be done here also. If it can't just leave it then. I would be happy enough if i can flash them to 800 (1.35V) / 1000.
This with checksum corrected pls.
http://www.megaupload.com/?d=2INQZCFE
Here is a Sapphire HD3850 512Mb BIOS with GPU Voltage changed to 1.33V (like the HD3870). The rest is stock.
http://www.megaupload.com/?d=QMOMVBCV (Uses Samsung 1.0ns chips ! )
How come lucky ? 800Mhz on 1.33V is normal i think ...
You normally now have the same overclock capabilities as the original HD3870 becuase both use RV670 core and both use 1.33V now.
I think you can reach 860 easliy...
Besides that, GenTarkin, can you manage this for me :
http://www.megaupload.com/?d=2INQZCFEQuote:
800Mhz core / 1.33V / 3D
1000Mhz mem / ....V / 3D
700Mhz core / 1.25V / 2D
900Mhz mem / ...V / 2D
This with checksum corrected pls.
well....not entirely the 3850 256MB version clocked at 668mhz stock...from what Ive read serveral places and I believe someone stated in this thread is hard voltage is @ 1.29v NOT 1.33v
I think that is where the 512MB higher stock clocked cards differ...they come hard voltage @ 1.33v just like the HD3870
I will work on that bios for you when I get home again for some time lol...
Take your time and we all appreciate it.
:toast:
Sry my English is not so good i'm from Germany ;)
The other GeCube Bios didn't run with my GeCube Turbo III 512MB OC Edition graphic card. With the Stock Voltages i only come to 770MHz Core and 980MHz RAM.
So can anyone mod my Bios to 1,33 Volt?
Thanks, and well greetings from Germany :)
ignore that...winflash is working...
I've tried a couple of the BIOS in this thread and they all break overdrive.
Flashing is easy. I don't have a floppy so I went an alternate route. I created a boot DVD with Nero. I set my DVD as the first boot device. When I post with the DVD in the drive the system goes right to Dr. Dos. I've got Atiflash on my C drive with all the BIOS I like to play with. Then I just go to C and atiflash -p -f <adapter number> <bios name>.rom. Reboot. Works like a charm. Make darn sure you remove your driver before doing this. I get both cards with no issues. I have 3850 crossfire. I do the one at 1 first then 0, reboot.
I wish I could get my hands on a BIOS that upped voltage and did not break OD.
