hey metro.cl you made me stay up all nite :)
nullface: there's no HT wall at 230MHz that I know of with Phenom 9500/9600 apart from with the DFI boards with the earlier BIOSes. 240MHz seems to be easy for many. ;)
But it seems the unlocked editions have a lower HT limit and especially the ones given to review sites.
Still nothing? WTF!
You guys actually expect metro to give you results of overclocking new chip in 8hrs:rolleyes:
8?! you mean 23, or is the my XS clock FUBAR?
Dobble sry
Take easy on him, guys...
What he's got is a very unique thing ATM, and he's sharing it with us... 1 day is nothing...
I agree :D Give metrocl the time needed so that he may provide us all with the correct info which will better help the community vs a haphazardly rushed conclusion
Im wondering where the retail BEs are. So much for getting one before Christmas. I did find a website that had 3,900 on order, they say the shipment is past due and they have 1,200 backordered at 290 USD.
i know we all cant predict the future, but god i need to upgrade this 939 and im wondering how much better b3 will be able to OC over these BEs, factoring in price as well
We can only hope AMD is taking the extra few months not only to fix the bug but to perfect their fab process and get some clock speeds up at the same time.
Monday has come and gone where are these chips at prey tell?:D
Your telling me im sitting here eating my fingers off waiting to buy the damn thing.
are these BE's really fixed from the bugs?
no more bug available in these BE's ?
Highly unlikely thats these chips are B3 Rev. AFAIK they are the same 9600 retail CPU with an unlocked multi.
I can tell you right now they are not gonna be B3 revision chips:)
so non b3 revision means that BE's still have the erata bug
so non b3 revision means that BE's still have the erata bug
Errata is nothing to worry about.
Unless ofcourse you want to run Virtualisation.
nice going amd..
how in the world can u get this chip for christmas if its not available
The 9600BE is launching today. You need to ask or look for these part numbers - OEM Tray = HD960ZWCJ4BGD / PIB = HD960ZWCGDBOX. The first production lots just hit the distributors last night. We should see them in the channel in the next couple of days.
Thanks for the info bingo13.
As in these:
http://www.morecomputers.com/extra.asp?pn=HD960ZWCGDBOX
I've found a few others in Google but they are international sites (Japan & Norway)
That BE in Pounds works out to about $350USD

Boxed 9500 BE is available to US and Canadian shoppers at NCIX for $272 CAD. Oh the temptation!!!
EDIT: Damn it, no stock yet, 1-2 weeks:

Special Order, Usually 1-2 weeks.
This product is available but currently we do not have stock - order it today and we will ship when it's available.
Ok so why did the 6400+ BE prices just go up $25? Newegg had them yesterday and Monday for $154 and now they are back up to $180? Either the Egg was expecting a new AMD chip to come in and rush off the shelves and it's not coming or they just had enough price alerts in the system for a sub $160 6400BE that they pulled the trigger on that.
That's not a good sign for seeing the 9500 BE's anytime soon IMHO....
If you're in the US my advice is to wait on Newegg, ZZF, Allstarshop or Mwave to get them in.
Yeah, I always shop at newegg, but had to go to ncixus.com for 8800gt. Got it there for MSRP, whereas newegg jacked prices by $30 for the 600MHz part.
Mine came in today.

BE on the left
http://www.rwlabs.com/ram/to20.JPG
They go to 20
You will have to wait till tomorrow to find out how fast it goes.
 Let us know if it has HT wall, what max stable OC and what temps at that.
Any idea what the dividers are for the RAM when you go over 15?
http://www.xtremesystems.org/forums/...d.php?t=105798
I've been looking for 16+ dividers for 533, 667 and 800 RAM

just show it running at 15x200 and im sold
The ES chip I have runs quite a bit better. If you look at the first pic the stepping is different. The ES will hit 2.8 and run stable with the Noctua HS that I have on the BE now.
BE temp is 38C in the BIOS. This chip does not like running at 2.6 with just multi adjustments, even at 1.3v. It does run all day at 2.5 though. I am a little disappointed that it doesn't run right outside of the box at 2.8 like the other chip.

This chip is a long way from hitting that.
I need to get an AM2 kit for my Mach II GT and see what happens on single stage.
hm whats the max volt on these? push it man push it as far as you can!
Newegg needs to hurry their rotten asses up and get some of these things in stock.
so whats up with the errata bug?
we suddenly don't have to worry about it anymore?
The truth of it is most of us never had any reason to worry about it...the bug is very hard to replicate.
These things anywhere to be found yet in the wild?
I am eager to see results from some of you.
I hope someone will post OC action with one soon :p:
I've seen some on line and they are all at places like iveneverheardofyourass.com.
Found this on another site:
Supposedly still contains said errata bug, but haven't really heard of anyone having any serious issues about it. I wonder if this thing will OC well...

http://www.guru3d.com/newsitem.php?id=6226 (this link says a February Release of the B3 steppings)
And A quick google search shows relative pricing:
http://www.google.com/products?q=AMD...tf-8&scoring=p
Looks like my price quess was a little high
what would the errata bug do... what is the real issue it could cause?
it would freeze ur computer, i was told it would only happen if you loaded up the entire cpu.
Here, the first page of this is mainly about the bug.
http://www.rwlabs.com/article.php?id=10
Here is my OCing break down.
The Asus board I am using doesn't like to go over 215 HTT.
The chip that is pictured on the left (see the stepping) doesn't like to go over 2550. I limited myself to 1.35V.
I will read your article thoroughly later. From what I've gathered, 2.8GHz with stock cooler is doable at 1.35v. Do you think it can do 3.0GHz under water/high-end air?
Am aiming for 3ghz/3.2 with my Asus M3a32-mvp 790fx and 9600 on water! Currently 2.7 stable had it at 3.3 but was very unstable on stock volts ill get there!
keep up the good work Bro20000
Hardocp has an unlocked 9600 on their site. Made it to 3ghz stable. Good showing...
Mike you gonna move on a Phenom down the road?
Supposedly Phenoms don't like high fsb, but how does it react to OC if you lower the fsb to 180-170 and rise the multiplier to 18-20.....
Might sound stupid but has anyone tried it?
P.S. I have no experience in overclocking a AM2 system, so I have no idea how it affects memoryspeeds. The last AMD-system I overclocked was a socket 939.
It seems that everybody is holding out for the B3.
Just order a 9600BE, but with the hollidays comming, i dont think I will have it untill late next week... Will keep you posted!
An article about TLB erratum someone found and posted a different forum thread, I found it quite enlightening.
So wheres this thing at man?????
I'm really looking forward to the BE being released in AU but I cant stop thinging about how much more power these Penoms draw compared to intel quads, its ~ 40% more across the board and close to 90% more compared to the upcoming .45nm parts from intel
Why so high ?????
B3 is the safer bet:)
Same here am waiting for b3 till i upgrade again!
Unlocked Multi is Marketing Scam to stay afloat and be BETA Tester at Best!
B2= Rc2
:)
You can't change the HT ref. value to below 200MHz. ;)
The unlocked editions don't like HT ref. high, typically lower than the multi locked editions. I've so far heard of 230MHz being the best limit and 201MHz being the worst.
I have been looking all over the place everyday and haven't found one
e-tailor with these in stock (or more importantly that I've heard of at all) Anyone actually seen these in stock and/or ordered one yet?
The only place I saw it "Available next week" was Fuad...
I thought it was supposed to be SOON, or the 1st week of Jan.
Maybe I missed it.
Either way, it's showing up now it seems.
They are here in U.K. already ;)

good to know *somewhere* has them lightman....now if only somewhere on this side of the pond can get them I'll be happy....
