Wow I really need to get a 5600+ now. I also have 1.375 volts to play with which means mabey I can hit 3.1-3.2GHZ:D in a Dell Machine of all things LOL

my old 5600+ didint do 2900mhz 24/7 stable no matter what voltage i gave to it.. it benched 3200mhz with 1.55v
Based on my experience with two 6000s and one 5200 EE (all CCB8F), the former actually clocks higher at low voltage. So long as you get the right stepping, the PR rating doesn't seem to make that big a difference. The 6000s I've played with would certainly need far less than 1.4v in order to reach 3.0 GHz, perhaps even less than most 5200s.
PS: The 5200, 5600 and 6000 all have 2x1MB L2 (in case you thought otherwise).
ccb8f is totally different processor from ccb6f. ccb8f is just amazing at overclocking. I wish I would have gotten ccb8f. where did you guys got your processor? i got mine at newegg.
My 5200+ CCB8F was from newegg a ouple weeks ago, the California warehouse.
i just got a CCB8F 0721TPMW from www.pccanada.com today gonna see how high i can get it togo
i got mine at california too. I live in nyc, so that was a huge trip for my cpu.

Thats a nice one! The list is updated!
Not so sure about that. Running 3400 stable at 1,42v is impressive.
At the moment my cpu isn't stable at any speeds because of a dying HIPER PSU.... It's whining and shutting down all the time, a sure sign of imminent death.. Gonna buy a Seasonic 650W that delivers 52 amps at its 12v lines, just hoping the HIPER won't die before I get the new one...

Is the HT Link too high at 1235? should I change the HT multiplier to 4X and where in the BIOS do I do that?

And your stepping is??
If your system is stable, the HT link is ok!
Just make shure if your on AIR use the best heatsink you can get ......Like the THermalRight 120 Extream if you can fit one or its new Counterpart the IFX-14:up:

Is there a way I can find the stepping without removing the heatsink?
the system is stable at 3211 but it does shut down at 215 X 15
Check out the box, might be there, but I don't think so..
Hi guys, I own a Amd 6000 X2 myself... currently got 13x250 @ stock volts
Ive got FSB on my Asus M2N32-SLi-DLX set 5x250 giving 1250... is this too high? it seems to cope fine... havnet upped any volts on mobo though or should i?
Also one other thing i hear that Amd 6000 currently 125W will be made in a 89W variety soon... will we see even more overclocking?
any help much appritiated :)
If it runs fine then it runs fine. people say there is no performance hit or gain running it anywhere from 800 to 1200, so why not leave it to run at 1250? The reason people all say to try to have it run around 1000 is because that is what it is rated for and many boards will not post if you try and have the HT go too high. If the board works fine with it running that high then there is obviously no reason to lower the speed, especially if he is still on stock volts.

What's your stepping?
As is said earlier here, if your ht link runs fine at 1250, then you leave it at that.
We're hoping the 89W version will clock even higher because of lower temps, anyone getting one of them (or the X2 6400+ Black Box) can feel free to post results and steppings in this thread.
The list is updated:)
Just had to dismantle rig as im getting a new graphics card, found out:
CPU: CCB8F 0717VPMW
been running 13x250 for last few weeks on stock volts... chose this setting so can run my OCZ SLI pc8500 ram @ 1000MHZ.. but in playing around last month i ive been over 3600mhz playing around with fsb vs multi going over 400fsb. Once ive resetup, ill have to play around again as ill be having better cooling power etc, one thing as i run raid its more tempermental with ocing.. had to reinstall windows last time but with vista should be able to repair as vista acutally can see raid setups.
Has any1 anywhere got close to 4000mhz with an am2 cpu yet? Only if i had phase change:ROTF:
anyone else have this stepping CCB8F 0721TPMW i will post a screenie of what im currently running at in a few moments.
6400+ In the house!
Will post results tonight.. so far it's not bad.
brief results from quick play.
VID=1.40
1.25v undervolt @ stock
3.3 @ 1.37 (slight undervolt) is a bit disapointing so far, allthough this is with the stock 6000+ cooler, and temps are baad.
tonight will be real play time.
ok so here it goes x2 6000+ stepping CCB8F 0721TPMW, im not done with it yet where is what i got it at so far cooling is a scythe Infinity and a 70cfm fan:
http://img169.imageshack.us/img169/9...testih2.th.jpg
All I can remember is it's a CBB8F 0722
I'm at work atm :P
A local retailer got some in on wednesday so I couldn't help myself :/
Have an E6750 here aswell to compare stock performance, though we allready have 1 source of results there.
One other thing. No unlocked multi! :(
Haha, well the promotional doco mentions unlocked multi's so I question why they bothered if it's not upwards unlocked. (could be jsut the bios not recognizing it I don't know at this stage)
Annyway not to worry for the moment :p

Just some quick runs, no proper stablilty test lengths here but I want to go to bed  Starting to get hot again over here.. 25c ambient's, goodbye to long chilly nights for OCing for the year I guess
Max Orthos on the stock 6000+ Cooler (not included) LOL @ temps :) Didn't want to push any higher than this. Not actually sure how accurate those temps are, then again it was a pretty :banana::banana::banana:ty mount.
http://img518.imageshack.us/img518/4439/maxstkhsrn0.jpg
Max Orthos on Water (Swiftech block, diy rad). pumped the Vcore up to 1.5/1.49 load.
http://img249.imageshack.us/img249/8...stwaterad0.jpg
And a quick 1M pi run @ 3.6 . Still using my :banana::banana::banana: ram @ 375 5-5-5-18 as my Crucial STILL hasn't turned up yet, so pissed off. Point being though it needs more juice to head over 3.6 @ these temps.
http://img518.imageshack.us/img518/9...tledpi1it6.jpg
So it seems pretty inline with other Good F3's. I'll crack out the peltier next. Time to go for the 4gig club  It seems these things Love good temps. Just moving from the stock cooler that max of 3.3 @ stock - 70C load, went straight to 3.43@ stock - 50C load.
before you go sub zero do some water test
btw
do cinebench version 10 test...
get it here:

Looks good, im waiting for the 6000 89W edition to come out... then we can get some serious ocing!!
TicTac:
32bit: 3.56Ghz
http://img139.imageshack.us/img139/5...3560375nm5.jpg
Had a play with the peltier.. it's good :) quite controllable temps down to about 0c.
I'm going to attempt to go below 0 tommorow with LESS voltage than here.. as in line with what Flytek found, 1.6v + has little to no effect, lower temps would be better.
So This was captured @ 5-6c Idle. Not stable. (Can't be used under load anyway, pelt not powerfull enough) But alas it's my first 4gig Validaiton on AMD so.. yeah happy times ;)

I like!, well done reaching 4000MHZ... looks like Amd still have some give left in it!
Amd 6000 125W RR £100, and Amd 6400 rrp??
Really annoying with my rig awaiting the new Graphics card, cant do ny overclocking :(
Whats would you say the 24/7 speed of this chip is?
when are those 6400+ reaching US?
coldbug is @ about -4 at the 250HTT mark.. grr
Congrats mAJORD! Not many who has reached the 4GHz mark!! Awsome!
go for the WR next!
BTW: Post your results in the Xtreme OC part of the forum. Need some AMD results there to kill the Intel dominance;)
Just make them get used to it as it will happen anyways when the Phenom comes to town:)
Congrats mAJORD
Both brilliant job on finding X2 6400+ that early in retail and bringing us another 4GHz 90nm X2!! Masterpiece
I made a boo boo in my stepping! I just tore down my rig to clean and looked at the stepping.
CCBVF 0704TPMW is the right stepping..
BTW, thats good stuff mAJORD!
mAJORD's feats inspired me so I thought I could try to get some more juice out of my own cpu.

As my board don't allow other multipliers than 15(!!) anymore, I didn't try any benchmarks, but it was superpi stable at 3650Mhz, but with crappy dimmtimings I don't even bother uploadin them:)

CCB8F 0721 TPMW
this chip acts strange...
at 1.39Vcore its orthos stable up to 3172mhz
it boots and benchs at 1.39V up to 3400mhz but its not stable there.
highest i tried was 3400@1.52Vcore and second core failed almost instantly. dunno what to do.
temps are under 51C on both cores.
Can we see some Clock for clocks vs your intel ?
Sadly, these X2's only can match with Intel's E2140/2160 family. I have an Opteron 165 on DFI NF4 SLI-DR and they're just about equal. (note that Opterons have 2x1MB L2) But still great bang for the buck (especially counting mobo cost), for sure.
 Likmark well done with that leafblower... what were your temps before and after with it?
Really pissing me off having to wait for my New graphics card to arrive, i should be hoping for at least 3650mhz on mine when i get it up and running :D
That is brilliant LIKMARK, it's not so much the blower itself (as funny as it is) but the :banana::banana::banana: you've tapped to the end of it that does it for me :ROTF:
but hey it works, Nice clocks indeed :D
Hi , do you have some info about X2 4000 with stepping CAAUG ? :)
10x in advance
mAJORD
What kind of Spi does that 6400 do stock?
I have my 6000 @ 3200Ghz w/1.44 vcore, which is .04 over stock VID which is proly more then it needs but the board does vcore wrong. It's set in BIOS to 1.4 vcore..
My Spi time is:
http://i120.photobucket.com/albums/o184/m411b/26.jpg
I just want to see what kind of difference there is so I know if there is a real benefit to purchasing a 6400 or not..
wtf?? your speedfan is reading both cores??
btw, im getting 26.7s @3172@1.39V with all stuff running at background under Vista32
M411b, i'll have to fire it up on the weekend again and check, sorry.
It's not gonna be any different though, 214x15 vs 200x16, same diff. Only reason to buy one is extra Headroom and multi to ease the coldbug, but my chip's no better than half the good CCB8F F3's on here when it comes to stable air/water Overclocks, and barely any better than my own 6000+ :)

I was a bee's :banana::banana::banana::banana: away from a 22.x pi, but pushed a little hard (3.7ghz) BSOD'd and couldn't quite get there again / couldn't be arsed juggling temps.
Very on the limit OC at any temp or voltage which leads me to belive the mem controller is pretty stressed out @ 600 :)
Anyone got tips on making it play nicer @ high memclock? I've never had ram decent enough to push into this territory before  :) A new exciting world of screwing with timings for hours.
Nice spi!! What volts are you running them at? 2gb or 4? You can lower your tras and trc at least by half.
Hi LIX, they're @ 2.3v PC8500 5-5-5-18 stk.
I have no doubt the ram will clock higher as it's prefectly memtest stable up to 604, after tht I get HTT 'no boot' issues, on this board at least. How far the mem controller goes I don't know.
I might tighten the timigns next as you suggest. Maybe it will remain stable @ tighter timings + lower clocks..
Anyway it's promising. Need to find the perfect balance and I hope someone out there at least will be able to break the current AMD 1m record with an X2 before phenom comes along,Just a matter of the right chip, good ram, someone with a chiller and 3.9 or so Ghz I predict.
couple of good possibilties
~300x14 /7 and loose timings
~250x16 /8 and tight timings..
-edit.
OK, clock speed wins. Seems the ram/mem controller was a definate bugbear @ 600.
Yes The cpu-z Vcore is Actual.

Amazing clock and results mAJORD!
Very good result mAJORD!
If only I could find CCB8F somewhere in UK then I would try to match your SPI time :) ....
But on the brighter side I can have better luck with Phenom.... I will try to nick one ASAP! :D
Hey Folks.. i got the 6400 in the house.. did some runs..
Of course.. the first thing you do is kick the volts and see how fast you can get the Suicide Screen Shot.
This was done w/ roughly 1.6 ~ 1.65 forgot what it was actually.
But not bad results :D

http://valid.x86-secret.com/show_oc.php?id=234099
I will see if I can push it higher and faster :D
SAD aka TiTON
Haha that's pretty crazy. I wish to see somebody do DICE/LN2 with those. That's where the real competition will begin. I will try to get a container for my X2 5600+ for some DICE action, but for now, my X2 5600+ can bench @ 3.4Ghz on AIR 1.55v. I will get it validated, but I did have some pictures which are pretty hard to see.
http://img172.imageshack.us/img172/792/3420vz3bu3.png
wow. very impresssive.:eek2: :eek2:
woohoo another 4+gig validation.
Care for some friendly competition SuaSadu. hehe
am too interested in what cooling you have @ your disposal :)
guys, i have a Q. whats your core temps at theese speeds? i mean stable.
i try to search if volts or temps are limiting me... i dont want to run this all day at 1.6V... imagine that power consumption, i found sweet spot at 1.39V 3.18Ghz
You got me Biohead :p:
I haven't opened that link.....
I was to quick with my post LOL!!
Still some information is missing .... like memory voltage, etc...
Congrats SAD! Awsome result with those X2 6400+'s!!!
Phase?
WR next one of you!!
Edit: Got the stepping for that one?
where you guys bought these Jh-F3 chips from?
All 5600+ to 6400+ are F3, (ie CZBOX), so no troubles there, no need to check first.
The chips that may or may not be however are:
5200+ (all 65watt versisons are so that's a giveaway)
5000+ (may also be 65nm - brisbane)
4600+ 65watt
3800+ 65watt
AMD X2 6000+ @ 3.65GHz / Inbox
Damn, its really hot with inbox cooler:ROTF:
Hey folks.. sorry for the VERY slow response. I am rarely online during the weekend.
Ok.. for the critical questions:
Chip: AMD X2 6400+ Black Edition
Stepping: ACB8F 0723 (damn.. forgot the last part.. i think SPWM)
Mobo: DFI 590
Ram: 2GB OCZ 8500 SLI Edition (didn't oc these yet)
PSU: PCP&C 750 Quad Slincer
GPU: EVGA 8800 GTS 640MB
Cooling: Approx -10c using Single Stage Phase (Ghetto modified for those temps)
All in Danger Den Torture Rack
Cold Bug limits me to around 230Mhz FSB when evap pushes over -26c.
Processor actually performs worst for me when more vCore is added (over 1.65 vCore).
Ok.. I hope that help.
mAJORD - Hey you mentioned about some friendly competition on the 6400+.. well.. lets not compete against each other. I am focusing my attention on HWBot and tryingt beat the overall X2 / AMD WR. This is goingn to be pretty fun trying to attempt that. So lets work together to see if we can set a higher bar for AMD.
SAD
nice nice 4ghz :D
With some luck a few cold loving 6400 wil popup and 4.3
might be doable at 90nm old K8 tech lol :D
Compete wasn't the right word, I did mean work together yes. ;) but settign eachothers new clock as a target allways makes it a bit more fun and a reason to bother so to speak.
I too don't care who does it I just want to see the WR broken :)
PS I found the same with added Vcore, especially since i'm using a pelt so it only served to increase temps.. 1.62ish awas about where it really stopped responding regardless. :)
mAJORD - Cool.. that sounds like a plan :) Lets see what we can do to break the WR. So what is your stable 1MB Spi Speed? So far I'm at like 3.7'ish.. haven't tried to any hard yet.
It would be cool to break the 20's barrier :D
SAD
SAD:
Best so far
22.7 3.8Ghz +22c Load.. dropping the temps will be the thing here.. as you can see the ambient water and too smaller pelt just can't keep it cool. makeshift water chiller is in the works.
http://www.xtremesystems.org/forums/...&postcount=168
Just a quick update. Had time to play with the Black Edition last night. I was focusing on tweaking the systems a little.
The best Spi 1mb time I got so far is like 21.935s. This was at like 3.9 Ghz, and Ram at 976Mhz Cas 4.
Sorry for no screenies, I am working on beating the fastest AMD SPi 1mb, which is like 21.21s w/ an FX57. Got about .7 to shave :P
Also, the install of windows is old, and the system was not tweaked. So stay tuned :D
SAD
Edit -
Dang.. just realized.. Roro has 21.21s on Hwbot, but KP has like 20.8'ish on Ripping. It sucks that KP isn't on HWbot anymore. Now I need to shave a full second off.
Uh max mem 104 for AMD 1m bro ;)
DDR2 is like having a peg leg in 1m. You'll need to push 600+ 4-4-4 somehow if you plan on being #1.
Was going to get one but that cold bug is absolutely awful :(
Hey awesome.. I will give those a shot tonight :D And time saving will be fun :D
AFI - you are right.. the coldbug sucks.. to hard to do dice. But pretty fun with phase.
As for the DDR2 I know what you mean.. what sucks is that the largest ratio I have is DDR800.. no 1066 :( But won't it be fun to see a peg leg go that fast :D
Challenges are fun.. so lets see what can be done :D
SAD
Would you guys agree that some of the best silicon goes into the 5200+? After all, it has a lower TDP than the rest of the line up and has the full 1mb of cache per core.
Ya I think so too, I had a couple 5200+ CPUs that easily hit 3GHz on slightly under stock voltage, and with 1.45 volts they can hit 3.5GHz
What do you guys think about

It was a great improvement for me under the same cooling (Air) from 3.402Ghz
Made a run Super PI 1M. got a 25s final on it. I will try to beat K|ngp|n's score as soon as I get a container or make a "ghetto" one for some DICE action. As for now:toast:
Nice result Jass. Is that stable or suicide shot?
What's the stepping of that one?
You'll have to shave off over 4 seconds to beat the WR.. Good luck beating the coldbug :)
