well, check out the 1st post.. kinc is using atitool 0.27.
he must have been given a special beta version then cos no one else has been able to use atitool, the only tool which supports overclocking this card which is available is the amd gpu tool ar the moment
First real crossfire results on air. Stock coolers on everyting. The ASUS 2900XT setup is running at 880/950MHz
What do you think? Looks promising to me ;)
http://kinc.bandwidth.se/20k.JPG
Looks great to me :D
Could you elaborate that "real crossfire" a little more? I am not really up tp date with latest R600 benching :/
Are you planning to do dry ice/ ln2 runs in the near future? That score beggs for more :)
A slight improvement.
http://kinc.bandwidth.se/20k.PNG
how have you overclocked the clocks in crossfire kinc i'd love to overclock my 2 i already have waterblocks on ready and waiting but no way to overclock atm
thanks
Slightly more cpu and memory speed. Scales pretty nice :)
http://kinc.bandwidth.se/20402.PNG
Wait so you can overclock in xfire 0_o ??
Perkam
How does it look in 3d01 Kinc??:)
Good job:clap:
Those vga are fast also with 3d05....I'm waiting news;)
When will the new drivers be available at final version?
I got lower scores with CF than single card on every benchmark @7.4Drivers :(
Changed air cooler on the CPU, from boxed to Tuniq 120 + a powerfull fan :) Cards clocked @ 880/950MHz.
http://kinc.bandwidth.se/21k.png
Almost a thousand points from just 300 more mhz on the CPU. Push kinc push.
Nice Kinc!!
Is this on official Cat. 7.5??
Can you show us how u O/C Crossfire? thanks
So if Crossfire runs on X38 platform then we will have a lot of fun this summer benching.
Nice numbers Kinc, Crossfire is looking good.
Hey Kinc, try the latest drivers, it gave me some boost:
Latest Run w/ Cats 7.5:
E6600@3.870Ghz and HD2900XT@890/1050
3DMark06 13,411

I can't wait for ATiTool Support so I can raise the core and cpu some more.
Here is a demonstation of one of the strong points with Crossfire vs SLI. Crossfire offers less CPU overhead wich directly translates into higher fps in the cpu limited tests like deep freeze here. Same card clocks as before.
http://kinc.bandwidth.se/102hdr2.PNG
You are going to need a 5ghz quad to start seeing some real numbers :D
Yeah. With 5GHz we will see some good numbers :) This weeks nitrogen delivery didnt arrive that is why I'm just messing around with a terrible (it is time for service) cascade that holds -75C loaded using QX6700 at relativly low voltages. And the cards still on stock coolers in a pretty warm room.
Test 2 of the SM2.0 tests is limited by graphics perf. The fps walled above 4.2GHz. I did a test with 920/980MHz (not stable threw all tests in 3dmark 06) and saw a fps increase in the beginning with 8 fps wich is alot. Canyon flight saw a good fps increase from more system perf. and PCI-E bandwidth. Remeber this is 880MHz core and R600 is good for atleast 1150MHz in crossfire using ln2 or cascades. I ran Canyon Flight in 3Dmark 05 at these speeds and got 215 fps wich is really good for the cpu clock. Total score were ~29500 in 05. It is really nice to see CF boosting GT2 rather then slowing it down :)

Whoa Nice !! Though I'd love to see some 1k/1k xfire action, this is a nice jump :)
Perkam
Huh - nice score Kinc with relativ low cpu power
btw : what ram are You using ?
Martin
So would I belive me :) The summer is here though so wont happen on stock coolers. The cascades warms up the room alot aswell so about 25C temp in the room. With ln2 on the master card and cascade on slave 1150MHz will be easy really, from my experience. I only have samples from early production and I belive they are warmer compared to the ones you buy retail today, atleast they do not clock as good.
Nice pair of RAM you got there Marcus ;)
Can't wait to see your scores with better cooling on all components ( CPU,VGAs )
OMG!! You jumped over 10000 SM3.0 on air
That is awesome!! RESPECT Kinc:clap:
BTW you're pretty close to Ultra results :D ! Can't wait for your LN2 delivery :) .
Testing with cpu speed close to were Kentsfield will end up.

For comparison against 8800gtx sli on air on old drivers.
Thank you elmor that is an excellent comparison.
Light grey: 2900XT Crossfire stock air cooled with 4450MHz Kentsfield.
Dark grey: 8800GTX SLI stock air cooled pre 158.22 with 4500MHz Kentsfield.
http://kinc.bandwidth.se/compare.png
Card clocks about 680/1150 if I'm not mistaken.
Here's another one for comparison: 21115
Qx6700 @ 4.3Ghz
8800GTX SLI @ 740/1050
No liquid nitrogen this week either :( I'm going to be out on ln2 for osme time now since there is problem with my distributer.
In the meantime I have modified the cooler for 2900XT to cool better used in a crossfire setup. It lowerd temp about 6C idle/load. All the air is focused to to pass through the heat sink, atleast 99% of it. Leaving the last part of the fins uncoverd helps the airflow.
http://kinc.bandwidth.se/cfair.jpg
This is the reason why I did it:
http://kinc.bandwidth.se/connected.png
Can't get much better than that :) Now just pray for colder outside temperatures.
Yeah almost 20C outside night time is not fun for overclocking :(
hihi ,connect it to an air conditioner .
Droop moded the board wich let me run 100MHz more cpu (note again the cascade is only holding -65C during cpu test thats why the clock is so low). Cards at same clocks as before. The air is 8C warmer then before.
http://kinc.bandwidth.se/23k.PNG
nice clks for a quad on that board . if you only had 2x16 pci-e .would probably give you more off a boost .
It is actually stable at 4600MHz now wich is about what I can run with this cascade on a 680i. So it is looking good, if only I could get some ln2...
nice run man, after you told me to increase the PCI-E, score increase a lot more. :D (but mine can only handle 138, ~140 i got 3D screen reflash problem, ~145 windows will BSOD :()
for P5B-E i can't go over 120.... so can't compare
thx for the tips man
Slight increase on the cards.

http://kinc.bandwidth.se/23k2.PNG
hiya kinc in 3d06 is it better to use cas 3 at a lower memory mhz than cas 4 at higher mhz,i always thought in 06 the higher memory bandwidth helps but looking at your setupo i can see you prefer the tighter timings at cas3, i can run at cas3 (3.3.3.8) up to about 450 (ddr900) with my 6400c3's corsairs or about 550 (ddr1100) at cas4 (4.4.3.10) which should net the better result in 06, thanks
Oh...cards are on air....nice.
Though I think you should wait to get 1gb XTs before going water :)
Perkam
There is nothing to gain from bigger framebuffer in 3DMarks low resolution. especially in Crossfire. These 1.0ns GDDR3 are much tighter then 0.9ns GDDR4. I should replace my AMD board though with another ASUS.The memory is really bad on the AMD board.
I just got a call, I might get 30l of ln2 before the weekend.
Bring on LN2!!! LOL
Nice results
Looking very good, bring on the LN2!
finally Kinc is going to show us some LN2 :D
meanwhile i am still trying to buy some LN2 container.......
heh you need dairy farmers close by, guess...
Dont think kinc has the LN2 yet, as his MSN nick is "Kinc - Nitrogen :'( " ;)
He'll probably get about 20L tomorrow, along with some DI to use on the master card (cascade for the slavecard).
4.9-5ghz kentsfield and 1100+/999 will be very interesting in 3dm06 :)
Is it cold enough for you?? :D
Now I'm expecting some records falling.
BTW today AMD sent to me nice e-mail about your 30K+ score in 3DM05! Their PR team is a little bit behind but still nice touch!
Peacefull.
http://kinc.se/before.png
looks really nice :D
First test proves 4 things.
1. CPU is atleast capable of 4900MHz (good news)
2. 125 fps in canyon flght is no problem with only -50C (very good news)
3. Silverstone Zeus 850W cant handle 1100/980MHz with a 4800MHz Kentsfield (kinda bad news)
4. Last but not least I need to inslutate better. Holy cow it's humid here now comapred to a month ago. Shutdown due to condensation only after 30 mins (bad but atleast I know why I had to shut down)
1. Really good!
2. Same as above.
3. Kind of expected...(?) :(
4. Yes, the conditions must be kind of extreme here in sweden right now. I get condensation at the other end of the GFX right now. :( Atm I have 25 degrees here and very fuktig air. ;) I guess you have about the same.
Well, have fun with the LN2 and I hope you get some good runs this weekend! :toast: :toast:
I had 10l nitrogen for todays benching and it didn't go well on the graphic cards part. For some reason I cant pass gt3 (cayon flight) in 3dmark 06 anynmore. Not even on stock clocks. I'm pretty sure that one of the cards are damaged in some way. I will test em seperatly tomorrow.
I am damn sure of something though. 2900XT Crossfire will have a 25500+ score in 06 soon. GT2 scales very nie with gpu clock aswell as GT3 and GT4. We are looking at 10k+ SM2.0 and ~12k SM3.0 scores.
CPU wise it looks very good.
http://kinc.se/4950.PNG
Next 3DMark 06 test will be on friday or saturday next week at Dreamhack Summer 2007. We will have 4 intense days there with hopefully all the ln2 we need.
Good luck!
I'm having su much trubble with 2900 CF on subzero that I might go crazy before I get a complete run in 06 with everything under ln2. The first 30 mins on the first try everytihng worke great and I had 1050MHz working. I am sure now that one of the cards is damaged, that is the reason to why it wont overlcok anymore. I will go out and buy a new one tomorrow.
This is a few days old screen showing the potential of 2900XT CF in 06:
http://www.kinc.se/potential.PNG
Nice this SM 3 score.. Share more when you can.... GT1 is allways benefits to Nvidia cards ( it was same with the 7900)...
This should give a pretty good idea on what to expect (NOTE: it is by no means a fully optimized score, no PCIe clocking, no OS tweaking etc):
watercooled 2900XT CF w/ 2 CPU cores vs. LN2 cooled 8800GTX SLI (older drivers) w/ 4 CPU cores (and slight CPU clock advantage for the nV rig also - 4876 vs 4804MHz):
http://img.techpowerup.org/070611/06_comparo.gif
Means that 4 cores running at 4.8GHz (CPU Score of 7000+) with watercooled 2900XT CF gives you 24k already :D
The 2900 XT benching will continue at DreamHack on Saturday, a new 2900 XT, a motherboard I'm not going to reveal just yet and many, many liters of nitrogen :D
//Andreas
1200l :D
haha that should give you enough time to really tweak the settings. The results will be amazing for sure.
First decent complete run of 3dmark 06. I was so excited that I took the screenshot wrong :)
http://kinc.se/24k.png
http://kinc.se/24k2.png
Omg isn't that a WR  :slobber:
Hoho!! NICE!
Still some MHz from max on the CPU I guess... How about the GFX, possible to get it higher?
No Vince still has the WR :) I think these 2900 will give him and Ultra SLI a honest fight though :D
This is just the begining. System perf. is terrible with this low FSB on 975X. If Blitz with DDR3 works well I think this can be a very deadly combo.
I have 12 liters of ln2 left and I will go for 25k++ with 4950MHz with the same GPU power tomorrow. There is alot left in the 2900's, A LOT. 1050MHz is with -55C and 1.35V.
Compare: http://service.futuremark.com/compare?3dm06=2198693
*biting nails* I can't wait until we get these babies really going :D
//Andreas
You make it sound easy :) I must say this have been the most challenging benching I have ever done. P5W DH and Kentsfield with handicapped overclocking of 2900XT Crossfire is a very very bad combo. Combine that with three pots to run with ln2 (I have two cascades thatdoesnt work). Cross your fingers Blitz Extreme will work like a charm and new 2900XT to replace the bad one that barly works will fix that problem.
12 liters of ln2 brought me a score of 24880 today with 4900MHz Kentsfield. I saved screens and saves to my USB-stick as usuall but for some reason the files didnt "stick". The screen below is the only one I saved to the HDD by mistake.
http://www.kinc.se/11491.PNG
Too bad about the non-sticking file, but now you have to do it all again and you might as well do it properly, wich means +25k. :D But I guess that will have to wait a few days...
I did not thought the X2900 would do so well in 06 actually. Great result!! :toast:
Yes crotale and I will be benching on Dreamhack with ASUS in a few days. I think we will have penty fun there as usuall even if it turns out to be a disaster result-wise.
Neither did I, thats why I have been giving it this much time and effort to prove to myself and others that 2900XT Crossfire are truly powerfull even though its flawed in the ability to overclock.
