Well, I hope its not a faulty board. But whatever volts or timmings or DDR2 profile I used in manual control the board would just reboot with "auto" on DDR2 timings except if 4:5 and only in a certain FSB range. Even then, I could not get the timings particulary tight or it would just reboot back at auto settings. :shakes:
I noted with DQ6 and Corsair dominator 8500 c5 that you can not change certain timings of DRAM in bios or you will have a faulty post with any value reset to default auto.
If you leave these timings to auto, the MB boots, if you set any value different from auto, even relaxed one, MB hangs.
I am rather sure I can not change the three timings after the classical 5-5-5-15 (first four timings) and the last three of BIOS list.
I can change only from auto the first 4 timings and the 8th.
I use BIOS F4
Thanks Brama, but i think most people only alter the four important timings anyways, all the subtimings are left at default in most cases.
Please post any overclock or tweaked timings.
So, would you recommend this mobo for a quad core guys?
It's said Tower120 can't fit with DQ6 ,yes or not?
Out of curiosity, which mem slots are people using? I'm using the yellows at the moment. I might try the reds to see if there is any difference.
A little strange regarding the Corsair RAM not working... did you make sure to test the "Option 2" setting on it IluvIntel??
Using a Crucial Ballistix PC2-8500 (2.2v stock) kit I've tested fully stable at:
534FSB
1:1 Ratio // 2 multiplier
4-4-4-12 timings
Default "Turbo" setting
"Option 2"
2.35v
Also tested stable at
1220MHz
2.4 and 2.5 multipliers both
5-5-5-15
"Turbo"
"Option 2"
2.4v
Both are fully Memtest86+ 1.7v stable. I am not willing to use voltages over 2.4v so I did not test any higher. GazC, I am using slots 1+3, the yellow ones.
Similar overclock to mine Kougar ;p and using yellow mem slots aswell.
Just tried the red slots, made no difference at all (so I'm leaving them there, lol).
Curiously, CPU-z saw the memory in the same slots as it did before.
Anyone try the F5C bios yet for P35 DQ6 yet ?
no but i'd love to have a new bios, because this one has some serious issues.
if some of you have problems with increasing the FSB you can add some volts to the PCI-E (it works for me even if i still have problems)
It's not on their website so I assume it is another random BIOS floating around the forums? I'm not going to upgrade BIOS's unless it's an official version as why upgrade when nothings broke with the F4, at least as far as I can tell. :)
Also Anandtech reported the "Extreme" memory performance setting resulted in "extreme unreliability"... suffice to say I have set my memory to "Extreme" @ 1068Mhz, 4-4-4-12, "Option 2" for the DLL change and have not seen any instability whatsoever. Still Memtest and Orthos stable... it is now an F@H box when not in use. :) Unless Crucial performed more magic to make their RAM stay 100% stable where others fail as they did in the DDR days I think it's likely a RAM voltage/Option 2/standard/turbo/extreme settings combination issue with at least some people's troubles, but I can only guess.
I have been testing the BIOS since last night and finally I have no more instability with my Corsair Dominator 8500 C5D.
This night I will try to overclock the DDR2; actually they are at 950 MHz 4-4-4-12, 2.2 V, turbo and it is perfectly stable: with BIOS F4 at these settings Orthos erupted after less than 30 seconds.
I think anyone can safely test this BIOS as the DQ6 has the so called "quad BIOS" and it is quite impossible to erase every copy.
can you give us a link to download this bios?
because i want to try something new
psssst.........you have a PM :)
can i have the link too?
i just bought this board and i'm eager to flash it to a newer bios :D
thanks a lot ;)
here is the link for the persons that want to test it: http://www.computer-tuning.nl/topics...p35dq6_F5C.rar
i won't be responsible if you have any problems with this bios...
edit: no improvements for me :/
i'm waiting for a P5K vanilla, because my Kingston still can't run at its specifications
thx a lot 0Digy!
Hm when i load Core temp my pc reboot with F5c bios.
And Option 1 or Option 2 is the same.
http://www.jzelectronic.de/jz2/index.php
bios F5G available
how come so many bios .. f5c, f5d, now f5g.. ermm
it probably means that GA is preparing the official F5 bios
and all the beta bios dont come with description ?
did you look at a my link?
http://www.jzelectronic.de/jz2/index.php
and then: 13.06.07 - Neue BIOSe von Gigabyte
13.06.07
GA-P35-DQ6 - Beta BIOS Version F5g
1. Fix 8 GB Ram Vista64 o.ä.
2. Fix QST
QST? Whats that?
Um, because those are beta BIOS editions... Gigabyte revises their BIOSs usually 3-5 times for every single official release.

Intel® Quiet System Technology (Intel® QST): Intelligent system fan speed control algorithms use operating temperature ranges more efficiently to reduce perceived system noise by minimizing fan speed changes.
thx guys.. all of u have been very helpful.. and sorry for my noobness..
anyway i've complete my new rig, and here is the specs:
QX6700
Gigabyte p35 dq6
2gig tracer pc5300 (temporarily, already ordered pc8500)
HIS HD x2900xt
thermaltake toughpower 700w
and so far i've tested @ 450x7, PI stable at stock voltage..will try to go higher.. :D
