so OPP, any verdict yet? i'm still waiting breathless for your opinion. it's down to the IC7 or P4P800. i like the looks of both. 2-3% performance difference aint much, but i just don't like to cheat myself out of it know what i'm saying?:toast:Quote:

It's a great overclocker though, maybe with a chip like a 2.8 it would cook but then you'd need a mem v-mod, I'm sure someone could come out with one.
I can't compare it to the MSI, I would need to compare to something like the IC7 that uses the 5:4.

OPP, again, I believe the MSI BIOS is just reporting wrong (what? An MSI BIOS doing something wrong?!?!). It calls the settings 266, 333, and 400...but the 333 is really 320. Intel does the same thing (calls it the '333 setting, but it's 320).Quote:

Use CPU-Z and check it yourself. At 275 5:4, your mem should be DDR440. If it really WAS a 6:5 (and the MSI would be the ONLY 875P out there with such a ratio...unlikely), it'll read DDR456.
I second that, you really need to check out CPU-Z for the actual memory speed instead of going on guessing here :)

I'm not impressed with my IC7 so far. But then again I'm a moron so take my experience with a grain of salt. My system isn't stable unless it's at stock, but that might be my uber bad cpu luck with a 2.4C that runs hella hot and won't even do 3ghz/250fsb.

I'll be ptuing in the MSI tonight, I just can't get the Asus to do high enough 3D. It's a great overclocker though, got me a nice PCMark score.
The bummer about the MSI is the CPU socket isn't in the middle of the 4 holes, it's off a bit so I'm not getting ultimate cooling. Plus the v-core has some mager flucuation, both hendering my top overclock on my chip.
Oh well, thats my P4P800 experience and I'm sticking to it :D

Thanks for the report on the Asus OPP. I'm still not sure which baord I want to try next. I almost went MSI, but got scared away by all the BIOS mess. I thought the Asus 865 might be it, but it seems the MSI is still better.
Now I'm confused which to try next:(

Just as a counter point...my IC7-G is tank! Still humming along at 24/7 at 272 x 15 pushing my 3Ghz P4C to 4.080GHz. I'm running the 5:4 divisor which puts the mem at a modest but respectable 218 at 2 5,2,2. It's been gaming and folding constantly. And since I flashed to the new 11 BIOS the second day i had the board, I've had absolutely zero issues.
Things went so well, my buddy ordered up a 2.8P4C IC7 combo which arrived this afternoon. One hour from start to finish and its up and running smooth as a baby's butt. Using the stock intel HSF we're at 3520mhz now (251 x 14). That's as far as the stock HSF will take us so he may be dropping to the 1:1 ratio and going with 3290 (235 x 14).
Sorry about the off topic, but I've had nothing but good experiences with the IC7 series...3 boards in a row now.
i already bought it. it's coming now. and a 2.6C from google for $230. i was gonna order all from out of state, cuz tax on $400 is quite a bit (why oh why are all good cheap shops in CA?). but googlegear was a bit cheaper, so i went for it. should be in by next week, as 3 day weekend will delay things a bit.
CPU-Z doesn't support i865PE yet and thats why OPP can't get it to report the mem timings. It should work w/ the MSI thou. Interesting to see if there really is this 6:5 divider (I personally doubt it).Quote:

What I was asking him to do was try CPU-Z on his MSI 875P, cuz that's the one that says '333' in the BIOS (6:5).
I also doubt the 6:5 (it'd be the ONLY 875P with such a divider).

One last thing, though...I noticed, on the Abit, to clear CMOS, you have to leave it alone a good 5-10 minutes (unplug power supply). I thought I had killed one when I was testing different 1GB stick (btw, guys...the IC7 works GREAT with 4GB of memory), but I left the clear CMOS jumper on for a good ten minutes...came back up.
It's a 480W Channel Well PSU, which works flawlessly on the NF7 now. Never had a problem with this PSU, this with several boards. Also tried an older Antec 400W but still the same. Won't post.Quote:

Setting it to 270 in the bios, the bios shows the memory at 450. CPU-Z reads my system as 274x15 and it shows the mem at 438.4
Sandra benches it at about 6000 MB/s even.

This is a pic from cop3 on the OCAU forums who just bought the P4P800 Deluxe.
It seems to be missing some mosfets and capacitors. Also missing some chips in the CPU area. It also has the same N/B heatsink as the non-deluxe. I wonder if the top photo was of pre-release boards and the bottom of the read deal? Will the missing components effect the performance we have seen from these review sites?

That's hilarious...my MSI 865PE has the same huge jumps in FSB as well. And it keeps going up...270 gives 274...272 gives 277...274 gives 279.2 (that's as high as I could go at 5:4).

I can't belive this, The Turbo option is gone:eek:
I flashed and flashed and it doesn't come back. The only bios Asus shows on the web site now is the 1006, I need the 1005 to see if I can get the Turbo back, without it the board loses major points in benching.
Anyone know where I can get the 1005? Does somebody have one of these mobos, they could extract the bios and save it.

Opp my P4C800 utility cd that came with the mb has a bios restore feature that flashes the bios to v1004 maybe the P4P800 has the same feature ?? you might could find the bios file on the cd if v1005 is what came installed !
Hey OPP...if the P4P800 is like he P4C800, the ONLY thing Turbo mode did was force 2/5/2/2 timings. And by force, I mean you can set the BIOS differently, put CPU-Z shows 2/5/2/2.
I got identical scores with it set to Standard, and manually setting the timings to 2/5/2/2, as I did in Turbo.
The Auto setting, however, sucks...and I have no idea what that does (it doesn't bump clockspeed or affect mem timings, so I have no idea).
I have my IS7 and 2.8C here now and she primed overnight at 250fsb using the 5:4 divider at 2-7-2-2 default Intel heatsink, 1.58vcore (1.65 in bios) and 2.74vdimm (2.80 in bios)
Currently the best I can do is prime for 6-7mins at 3640 @ 1.62vcore default cooling but the temps get to the 80s!! :eek: I can get her to prime at 220fsb 2-7-3-3 using 1:1 mode too, but 2-7-2-2 reboots PC halfway into windows.
Thats about all the testing I have done so far. Ill put her in the Vapo today or tomorrow and will have more results then.

Well it took all of 4200 Mhz on the P4P800 but I finally beat the MSI in 3D2001.
4200Mhz, I was on my tippy toes for this one :D I wish the MSI would clock this high. Time to look into a Canterwood that is a good overclocker, how's that Asus P4C, any good?

I guess it shows the P4c is capable of highest fsb when the chip is NOT overclocked, but isnt it possible that other boards are capable of higher than the p4c can do when the chip IS overclocked? the first overclocked chip is 11th in that list at 328 and is using a MSI neo. does look like the p4c's are capable of going very high without much vddr though. I think p4c just moved to top of my list.

OPP, have you tried an IC7 yet? JC passed 3DMark at 284 5:4 and 295 3:2 (which was faster)...do you think your chip will actually hit 15x295=4425?

has anyone else noticed how its almost ALL "a-data" memory in that wcpuid list of top fsb? 11 out of the top 13 are all a-data.
wondering if i should dump my xms3500 and try and find some a-data instead for when i get my p4c.
Some of the A-data memroy sticks use Winbond chips others use A-data chips and I don’t know which are best :

Yep...timings hardly matter on the 875P. Heck, half my benches (except Sandra) are slower at CAS 2 than 2.5.
Kinda makes things easier...just relax your timings and let her rip.
thing is according to that review as slack timings the 3700 is best but i wanna make sure itll beat my xms3500 before i waste more money on memory thats no better.

Well mem timings make bigger difference w/ unbuffered bench but I think that its mainly the BIOS (I'm using 1006, was clearly faster than 1004 for insance) and bootup FSB that makes the difference ;)

OPP's 3DMark2K1 and 2K3 scores at 277 with the Asus Springdale P4P800 are LOWER than his scores at 275 with his MSI 875P. This would seem to indicate that the P4P800 is 'reverting' back to normal Springdale-like results when overclocked.
@ Kunaak: No kidding. He's tried the MSI and the P4P800. He just got a P4C800. And I just sent him an IC7.
I figure if anyone can tell us which board is best, it'll be OPP ;)

So far I like the Asus P4C the best, it has plenty power over the P4P, not as much power as the MSI but since it overclocks my chip a lot further then the MSI it wins in benches. Only problem is the Prometeia reset hold issue.
Gunna try the Abit next and see if it wins over the Asus.
Important point is that this is my results from useing a 3.0 P4, the smaller chips with the higher FSB could be a whole nother story :)

Opp after you get through with testing the Abit, why don't you do a little write up about the adv and disadvantages you found with the boards, sorta a little review about your results - then a sticky

www.snogard.de has the non-deluxe in stock, its a nice price difference with the deluxe too.
Its the deluxe version I'm using JC.
Zroc, Clock to clock P4C800 is a bit faster than IC7 or DFI 875. ALso the reason for higher FSB w/ P4C is most likely the chipset. Guess this mobo just has a chip that overclocks a bit farther.
but talking about FSB the Albatron 865PE beats the crap out of both of these i875 mobos. You'll see quite a nice WCPUID and SuperPi screenshots once I get em uploaded :D

I dont think you can 'turn off' PAT past 200 FSB, so the 865 chipset is likely to get higher FSB's.... right? :)
