I wish. I read that one of the head guys of the F-Body announced just a couple weeks ago that they would not return.Quote:

Heh I love my cars.
Forget your ferrari's and your XJ220's I'd rather have an Orca113 ;)
http://www.orca113.ch/bilder/011_07A.JPG
Never heard of it, didn't think so :p: Did I mention 0-60MPH in 2.7secs :D
Then why haven't I heard of it?
It's brand new in Europe, production just began (well starts in April). They won't let us Americans have anything that will do 258 mph!
For some more pics go here : http://www.orca113.ch/
Not real crazy about the "kit car" look, but performance is unreal!:D
Here's a super car with real style:
One more:
And that would be...?
that's a koenigsegg cc8s
front:

er.. chopper?
http://www.classicdriver.de/upload/i...087/img102.jpg
some kwick data:
engine: 4.7 l - 8 cyl - turbocharged to 655 ps @6800 rpm - 750 nm @5000 rpm
body: 1175 kg - 1.79 kg / ps
perf: 0-60 mph (0-100 kmh) <3.5s - max ~242 mph (390 kmh)
cost: whoopin 530 g's
and regarding the orca... it's funny. i've seen a report on the car and the guy behind the car a while back on tv. that is a one man show. this guy is an engineer and he was bored with the cars around - and couldn't quite afford a real sports car - so he started designing his own. that's basically why it is a kit car of sorts - since he wouldn't be able to design a whole engine and chassis all of its own. so he picked existing parts for that and had the modified.
nevertheless a pretty hot piece of wheels.
btw has anyone ever mentioned the pagani zonder around this thread?
as far as i know it's the current holder of the track record on the nurburgring (long track) for production racers.

Sorry I forgot to post the name of the koenigsegg cc8s
Thanks Sky!
oops... just noticed there's another koenigsegg out that almost looks the same as what we posted. so here's the data of the "slightly" more powerful koenigsegg ccr (fasten your seatbelts):
engine: 4.7 l - 8 cyl - turbocharged to 806 ps @6900 rpm - 920 nm @5700 rpm
body: 1180 kg - 1.46 kg / ps
perf: 0-60 mph (0-100 kmh) 3.2s - max ~242 mph (395 kmh), quartermile in 9 sec @146 mph (235 kmh)
cost: mucho. like a wise man once said. if you have to ask how much, you can't afford it :D
here's a direct comparison of those two (cc8s & ccr) :slobber:
just wanted to order one, but their page said
"This part of the website is still under construction but will be available shortly." too damn bad, spared me 500 gs :)
Man that's sweet! They made the improvements where they count too.
I'm going to get the rear camera option. Seriously, if you have ever sat in a car of similar design, there is hardly any rear view at all as far as backing up is concerned. You are better off opening the door and leaning out to see where you are going.;)
Yeah yeah, nothing American Muscle can't do...Quote:

yeeez one for the archives :D great stuff.. but then again this is probably a tailormade car just for drag racing while the ccr is a "production" car meant to do it any time, without liquid glue on the track to launch...Quote:

anyway that clip owns. what i would give for sitting on a drive like that just once... :slobber: - after all speed is fine, but i never really cared too much about it. acceleration is what counts.... aaaah LOVE IT!
Yeah I can just imagine what a launch like that would feel like...maybe a rocket taking off....
the ghostrider busa had 499 hp;)
I got the first dvd,...... really insane stuff :slobber: :slobber:
Start to think:
You are on the way home with ~50mph and this guy is blasting away of you with 300km/h on just the rearwheel.. :slobber:
Very insane Stuff:D
I once been passenger on a hayabusa(stock) the max. we were driven was 240 Km/h, it was enough too;)
Being a passenger would scare the hell out of me because you have no control at all. I don't think I know anyone I would trust that much.
the driver(and owner) was the dad of an buddy of mine. He drives motobike since ~15 years ;)
And he doesnt drive agressive in situations he cant control, not with that kinda bike :D
A camera? Pfft, what a sissy way out, just lean out of the door, its way more fun that way. :p:Quote:

They are making it WAY too easy to live with these cars, if you have 500K to drop on a car then it should at least have difficulties, otherwise we cant just hide behind the "its not practical" argument for our poor wallets.;)

yea all these new supersportscars are too easy on the driver.. asr, abs, esp, powersteering (there's only one true way of power steering, know what i mean :D )..

hm this last one.. maybe someone soiled himself? :D
this text here says they had an audi engine tuned to 580ps but thought to downtune it to a "moderate" 400ps .. pffff ;)
- oh and that text is also where the pics originate from.. lots of other nice cars listed there aswell.. lotus exige2, mb slr the >new< ford gt40 (back to the roots!), ...
oh the color-selector at farboud is fun.. midnight blue or storm silver is the way :)
Hey, there's nothing wrong with progress. I remember when the Corvette used to ride like a bucket of bolts brand new and you wouldn't dream of driving it in the winter. The new ones ride like a dream in all kinds of weather.
There's no way I would ever get used to shifting with my left hand! I do like the interior style and use of machined metal look.
Much to my surprise Lime Green looks great on this car, a color I would usually not even consider!:D
My car doesn't have abs and when you made a slide on the road when braking you say that it's a very usefull improvement
Anyway the last car look a lot like a ferrari at least the design
It looks to me like it has the front of the 360 modena, but the cabin is more in the style of the lambo gallardo or murcielago.
G
yeah it is the front of the modena - i thought the same and somewhere in that text i linked to it's said that the guys actually drives a 360 so there you go ;)
ok.. maybe i should start a thread on the pros and cons of electronic driving aids. i personally am pretty much opposed to them. they might be handy in some parts and actually help make your ride safer, but there's plenty people out there that just don't get it. i mean all safety devices like that are fine until people start to feel safe and neglect the danger they are probably around.
ah crap... i'll open a thread an stop spamming this thread with my opinions about electronic driving aids.
I know what you mean sky, the major problem in the car is not the car but the driver. 90% of the accident are due to human failure! it's not a question of too much safety device in the car but it's a question of changing human behavior in the car and that the people should realize that it's not because they have an airbag, abs ,ebv ,... that they'll do less accident or have less risk of being kill if they drive like crazy. A test showed that people who have a car with abs tends to brake late and cause accident this way (the abs only prevents sliding on wet floor but don't shorten braking length ;))
Well actually ABS shortens your brake length, you just have to brake hard enough... ;)
Well I might as well add my absolute favorite car....
I can't run from it, it is a 1968 Dodge Charger (426 HEMI - top dream, but not reachable).. I am totally in love with that car, and no other car has been able to take it's place in the last 2 years now...
Picture..!
Nope this isn't true, abs prevents you from sliding by preventing the wheels to block! It's not meant to shorten the brake lengthQuote:

ABS works by Pumping the brake petal faster than humanly possible and I believe it does actually improve or shorten braking distance, but mainly allows you to maintain control in heavy braking situations by preventing the brakes from locking up and sliding or skidding.
nope abs work by releasing the brake jsut before the wheel completely stops
Let me explain, whenif you brake too hard, at a moment the car will go sliding, meaning the car will move but the wheel are stuck. This is very bad for the braking distance! The abs release the brake at the right moment to keep the wheel spinning hence the car won't go into sliding, this is in the name of the ABS anti blocking system (if i'm correct). I'll try to find a website that explains it better than cause it's clear in my mind but maybe not the way i explain it ;)
http://www.ambulancedriving.com/extr...e4-pce-09.html
I didn't read it all but it should be clear enough
Anti-Lock Brake System
Does exactly what it says...
I could have worded it differently, but here's a quote from the link you posted which says pretty much what I said. I worked for Chrysler for seven years...I know what abs is:
"So long as the driver maintains firm pressure on the brake pedal, the system reapplies brake pressure to the point of lock up. It then releases the pressure again. The release and reapply action can happen up to fifteen times a second. It acts on any skidding wheel so long as the driver maintains firm brake pressure."
;)
Without skid, you are not losing contact with the road with the wheels that do the steering. This is most important during breaking, as if you DO lock up the wheels that steer, you inevitably begin to float off axis and then you are going sideways.
To regain control you must....release the breaks and steer in the direction you want to head until tire rotation matches ground speed and you gain traction again. If just for a split second. That is long enough to lose any advantage VS. ABS.
The vast majortiy of commercial vehicles have brake systems that demonstrate fade (which varys with temperatures and usage), use brake lines which expand and contract in varying degrees, and usually everyday cars are a little out of alignment after one or two serious pothole hits.
All these variables add up to make it impossible for even the most experienced driver to anticipate slippage direction and duration during a stop..two or three pebbles in the road can make you lose grip, but which tire first? Thus ABS almost ALWAYS breaks better.
Now put a very experienced driver in CONTROLLED SITUATIONS like a clean racetrack, sticky and warm freshly balanced and evenly inflated tires, Precision Brembo coss-drilled rotors and racing pads, and experience with that car...then in a straight stop he can take it to the brink of slippage without hitting a slide....that car could stop faster than an ABS equipped car.
But if he had to brake hard during a turn, he'd probably lose it before the ABS car would.
my 2 pennies
come fix my 93 concorde. air conditioning no work anymore even though everything from new compressor to new freon charge and all fuses working but still no worky :( sux during summer.Quote:

Very well said zippyc!
3rd-Dimension, sorry man I wasn't a mechcanic. Gary might be able to offer some tips on the air problem?
There's a lot of situation were there's no skid! One a wet road you shorten the braking distance because without abs you'll skid. But otherwise there's "no gain" from abs, the mistake most people makes is to think i have abs so my braking distance is shorter in all the case which is plain wrong and can lead to accident! ABS primary role is to allow you to master the car while breaking and this is very helpful on wet road (last week i slipped on the road after a sudden brake and god i was afraid even if it was on less than 10 meters, i was driving between 40-50Km/h and the road was slightly wet)
You are correct in that people tend to rely on abs too much and on their own common sense too little.
3rd, is it just me or do your wheels look photoshoppped?
The Volvo 240.....:toast:
I love my car and the only thin i would buy over it if i had the money buck for buck would be the 2006 (or when ever they come out) Corvette Z06. They are supposed to have something like 500hp 500 ft/lbs of torgue. :slobber:
That would be amazing to see numbers like that, out of a 6L V8, daily driveable, and passing emissions.
It would put it right on par with the Viper which is making the same power from an 8.2L V10...
Sounds about right, I do remember hearing talk that Chevy was taking the Z06 up to and beyond Viper levels. Remember the car only weighs 3150lbs, with that power it will eat the Viper for lunch.
hmmmm...... this car does have nice design. The more I look at it and know about the car, the more I seem to appreciate it.
The member Pecker posted it in the first post...

Addition of Brembo brakes & Discs is a bit too much but at least get the 18" rims and tyres for good look. That looks like 15".. small.Quote:

Let's keep the Dream Car topic going.
17's they be.
I have ghostrider DVD he is full of **** on the busa....that thing dont wheelie at 200mph....he has just put a smaller front sprocket on, the speedos read off the gearbox not the front wheel. His gixer thou bits are good, but the busa bits plain suck....lol.
What you got to remember about the busa is that it is very front end heavy so wheelies at that speed are nigh on impossible....maybe with a blower@ high PSI but that didnt have. The busa with blowers will "light" up the rear in top @150mph but the frame suffers from twist so you have to be careful, as it start to pull across the road at full poke.
I have wheelied a blueprinted R1 @ 120mph and believe me you know about so 200mph is not possible on a STANDARD production bike.
Im stuck with a thunderace at the moment but would love a busa.
I used to own a 200HP, turbocharged ZX11.
It would do mid 9sec 1/4 mile @ 150mph, 200 MPH top speed.
Riding in the Texas hill country I could crest a hill @ 100, 110, 120 mph and roll on the throttle...instant front wheel pointing at the heavens. With 200 hp the frame still felt good but above around 185~190 the bike started getting twitchy.
I also used to own a 175 hp, turbocharged, 6 cylinder Honda CBX.
It would scare you to death just trying to ride it. The frame was so weak that if you nailed the throttle you could feel the frame wind up like a spring. I loved the sound of it, I loved the looks of it, I hated the way it rode-handled- and performed.
Way back in the early 80's I tried to order a Koenig something. It was 'only' 40 grand back then, had a mercedes engine and was quite the ride. Alas I ran out of money and never got it.
wj
Man, both the Z11 and the CBX were very nice bikes (wymjym and I used to ride together so I have ridden both).
I remember the CBX most vividly, although the ZX11 was WAAAAAYYYY faster, the CBX got my heart pumping more in the lower three gears....
That CBX had a shoter wheelbase and all that torque power on a big fat rear and that huge/wide/heavy six cylinder below. I made the mistake of rolling it a little too much in second once and when that turbo kicked the front wheel launched like the space shuttle and I damm near landed on my back...what a rush though!!!!
Good times, good times, glad we did not die on any of those rides.....
One of the most fun bikes was that little 350CC (Edit) Yamaha that wymjym had, tons of fun at 0-115MPH, but at 115 you were hangin on for your dear sweet life and wymjym would pull away in the ZX-11 like I was friggin standing still...
Hey Zippyc,
The 250 was actually a 350 Yamaha, Kenny Roberts Special.
It was bored out and had larger carbs and expansion chambers. It made a very peaky 47HP. It was a hoot!
He's the old 6 banger...too bad you can't see the turbo from these shots. It was hidden behind the huge cylinder.
http://westech.home.mindspring.com/pstuff/cbx.jpg
wj
:toast:
Thats the one! Blood pressure is rising just looking at it...
Look, it even has a custom paint job, an X for "xtreme" on the tank (Really it says cbX, lol)....
Water cooling WAS added!!!!!! (for the turbo if I remember correctly), and an engine delivering WAYYY more HP than the manufacturers specs...
That bike BELONGS on this forum.... It had the horsepower of a small car if I remember correctly....wonder what HP it would have done if you added dry ice? :p:
Ive got my dream car i think.... But im not sure till i get the rest of the mods done!!

G
Yeah, they sure do look sexxy.
Unlike the new GTO`s.
Gawd are they ugly or what??
They don`t even look like a GTO!!
At least the new beattle looks like a beattle, the new Thunderbird looks like a thunderbird....
what`s the new GTO??? an Australian based car with a chevy engine....no hood scoop, no hood tach, no Judge wing...no Tri-power....no nothing to make it look like a GTO...it looks like everyother dang car out there....
No-way-in-hell would I trade my clasic GTO for one (ormore) of the new ones. :(
By the way, that is not a concept but a production car now. It will be about $130-150k USD.
I have the video review of the car by (forgot his name....the Australian guy that reviews all the high end cars).
He always bashes American cars and how they can't handle (which is complete BS  ) but he absolutely LOVED the Ford GT. He couldn't get enough of it.
Here is a pic of the exact model, paint, and undergarmets as the xtreme volvo I just picked up as my new ride tonite. (Dark here, no personal pics yet so i am borrowing one, only other one like it I have seen...
I just could not find the $$$ for the BMW 530, besides this outperforms it unless you opt for the xi beemer.
'04 Limited Sport Edition Volvo S60-R
AWD
0-60 in 5.4 Sec (so they claim)
Good cabin room for five, four door.
Inline Five Turbo 2.5 Liter
13" Ventilated Rotors fore and aft with FOUR PISTON BREMBO's, MMMM...
Six speed manual
Perelli's on 18"
Oh, and 300 HP/295 FtLbs of torque. This AIN"T MAMMAS VOLVO!
The coolest thing on this car is it has on the fly adjustable suspension(electronicaly dampened shocks and a computer sampling 500 times per second). Three settings, with Advanced Sport feeling very tight kinda like a nascar, Sport feels like the sport tuned 5 series beemer, and Comfort is a little floatier but good for long trips or clients...just smooth as silk.
I almost got the infiniti G35, until I drove this volvo.
Anyhow I'll post a pic I lifted from another site, but mine looks just like his with same paint and trim('cept mine is faster cause he got the geartronic tranny on his)
PS: In the first page of this thread a dude posted his 70R...same HP in a wagon...awesome!!!!:toast:
That last pic really made the nose look long, here is a side shot...
How do you like the car so far? My wife is looking at the same car now and would like to hear from someone that actually owns one;)
This car is way more car than I expected. ;-)
I've put a couple hundred miles on it, not long trips yet but...
I came from driving a Acura Tl and a TL-S and this Volvo is a FAR nicer car. More solid, better room, better acceleration, better safety. Much better cornering and handling for sure.
I recently drove a 2003 325 beemer for a month and a half, a jag s-series for a month, an Infinity I-35 for a month, a cadillac deville (only a week in that one, hated that car), and lastly the Montero suv for two months. This R car is far better than all those IMHO.
My only misgiving so far is that because this almost as wide as a five series beemer, it has a larger than normal turning radius.
And I personally would have preferred to see a boost meter in the dash for the turbo....but only because I plan to change the ECU programming which should deliver more boost/better fuel mixture and about 50 more HP with no other mods (can you say 0-60 in less than FIVE SECONDS???).
The spedometer and Tach look like this Rolex, blue face with silver/aluminum trim.
http://www.tic-tock.com/php//Display...WATCH_ID=10285
The sport kit is low like a vette, so you have to watch those dipping driveways, but it does fine over normal height speedbumps. Thats not an issue if you opt to go without the sport kit.
Otherwise I have DEFINATELY turned heads everywhere I go, and the manager at the local car stereo shop who races his RX-8 on the weekends about Shixxed when he started looking at the features of this car...evidently the largest car stereo company here in Austin had not seen one yet.
What else can I say, it's Suburau WRX killer in a larger sedan, with sedan insurance rates. (At stock the R won't beat WRX STI, of course)
And getting on the freeway today it smoked an '02 Porsche Carrerra from like 20 to 90 MPH as we both stomped to get on...I was behind and passed him, lol, he definately was tryin' not to get whooped by a Volvo. BET I RUINED HIS DAY! lol
And the on the fly suspension adjustment is VERY USEFUL, reminds me of the old air-leveled saabs, 'cept way better. Nice if your are taking family or cleints out...I'd set to "Comfort" for long HWY trips. I believe volvo equated it to being suspended from the air above ("Skyhook Suspension" they call it), it kind of lightly skips over the smaller to medium bumps.
Othewise I leave it on sport, and if I'm plannin on goin over 80 or while driving aggressive I use Advanced (only good for nicely paved roads IMHO, will beat you to death on bumps.)
It is a very comfortable car, with soft headrests and comfortable seats, dual climate control, his/her remote seat memories, and a very clean cabin layout. Very nice leather too, more and way better than the Beemer. Better rear room ,headroom, and side room than any 3 series beemer.
When we shopped we drove all of the following:
BMW: 330xi. X-3 3.0 Suv, 525 Sedan
Audi: A4 AWD (their fastest one, whatever that was in the A-4)and A6 (could not afford to look at S4)
Volkswagen: Jetta 1.8 Turbo, Biggest Passat, and 6 Cyl Tourag
Infiniti: G35 (got second place in our final choice, very nice car.)
Sis in Law has the 03 Saab s5. Brother has Honda Pilot. His inlaws have the big Lexus 470, and we looked at the 04 lexus 330 SUV late weekend too.
I really have no real regrets and continue to be surprised with the excellent performance, and still have not gotten within 1500 RPM of redline of 7K cause I'm breaking her in slowly....
Three words..."get one soon!" Next year they are adding clear taillights and spray (not wiper) headlight cleaners. I personally don't care for the clear tailight look, so this was the year model for me. And it is still european built, which may change soon since Ford acquired Volvo.
Got mine for $800 above dealer invoice, even on the "Limited Edition" (basically means sport kit.)
(You might want to get her to drive the regular S60 first, then move her up...that's what sold my wife.)
Go drive one! You'll have one of these :D on your face when you do, I promise.
Drive the infinity too if you like, then get back into the R, which you'll discover is also a G35 killer too...
Oh, and safe, safe, safe. It was rainin here the other day, just started so we had some nice oil slick goin at the intersections. I chose an empty one to slam on the brakes at sixty, deliberately looking for a skid. The car barely locked up, started sliding a little off center, then it gained traction on the appropriate tire and whipped me back into a straight, controlled brake as if by magic.
The active anti-skid technology is simply awesome coupled with the massive brake system.
Incidentally Volvo's supercar was based on the S60R, twin turbos, over 500HP,

I like your car....
Unless you have done something very super to that suspension I certainly would be cleaning my drawers after venturing to 180mph in that thing. They used to get very light in the front end at 110, so more weight in the rear and mucho higher speeds should make for a rather light steering wheel feel at those speeds. What have you done about that?
0~60 <3.0 is also a nice number, have you done that or is that what your shooting for? I don't know of any licensable cars that can do that without either; huge tires or AWD or electronic controls to limit the wheel spin.
Is it done or still in the works?
More photos please.

The 0-60 isnt an official number, just one we got from messing around with a stopwatch. I'm pretty sure it's somewhat acurate tho. It should have around 450HP with what it has in it. It goes without saying that it pulls like crazy.Quote:

I dont know exact specs of torque and HP, it's just damn fast. I loved the look on one of my freinds faces when he lost to me in his 360 Modena F1-edition. :D
That is a rather old picture, the current setup is actually with the radiator in the front, and a fuel cell slightly behind it. The suspension and aerodynamics dont really pose too much of a problem at high speeds though.
This car does in fact have quite wide tires. Unless you consider 12" skinny.
Get out your camera and lets see it!
btw here is some interesting info

I'm sure your car is fast but that sub 3sec thing is sort of like the 3minute mile
I went for a ride in an acquaintences F40 and it was truely breathtaking, also a ruff twin turbo'd 5 speed (515hp) ditto.
Last but not least a Gembella with a short lived 550 hp engine. All totally awesome, but none capable of the sub 3.

It may be possible with sticky tires and a hard launch.
But, that depends on how much it weighs, and your suspension setup.
What is the total weight of the car?
total weight of the car with weight jackers ( I dont have a scale ) should be around 2200LBS.Quote:

Then I think those numbers should be attainable.Quote:

how many hours did you put into it alltogether and what did all of that cost? i see these cars sell over here for 300k (finished, no kit or comparable)
It took about 2 years and approx 20k. The engines were Chrysler demo units they were going to scrap. . . we’ve got 2
I spent a lot of my weekends TIG welding, researching, and general grunt work helping put it together.
It’s all worth it though.
Last summer I had the privilege of blowing away a Corvette ZR1. In the Corvette was the driver and great looking blonde. I’ll never forget the expression on her face when the Cobra flew by her . . .
While a ZR1 is a nice car, its really not in the same class as a custom built Cobra with an 8L V10 under the hood....its not really a surprise that you won.Quote:

I wouldn't be surprised if you could pull a high 10 in the 1/4 with some sticky tires.
It was more the *expression* than the ZR1

I dreamed of being the age I am now with the car I have now. 19 with a nice Camaro Z28. At 23 I shall be a proud vette owner. When I was like 12 I said my first car would be a firebird or camaro, then I'd get a vette. Looks like that happened.
By the way anyone who thinks American cars have poor handling can shove it up their bootyhole. I've beaten countless Jap cars and tons of BMWs on windy roads, with ease. Hell I beat some of em with my 6 cylinder Firebird.
Torque > *
What year Z-28?
1 year out of college and you'll be able to be financially independent, have good enough credit to finance a major purchase, and roll in a new vette, huh?Quote:
