you better keep then, they dont come along every day.:)
I am one of those lucky guys whose wife supports my hobby and what I do. She even contributes occasionally when I'm down on $..hence my current 1800+ that at 1.95v will do 2975Mhz. Can't wait to get a board with more volts:D
But anyways..shes happy I tinker at home in her company ....better than her worrying about me out all night blowing $ on booze down at the local gin mill and drowning myself...LOL

here is one of mine
Alright.... well ya gotta understand.... I work in phases. First up we have the "nice neat and useful" phase (see pic 1). Then we have the "testing new crap" phase (see pic 2) and finally we have the "overclocking the hell out of hardware" phase (see pic 3).
Things often get rotated from wherever. The 2nd picture is what I'm using right this second. It'll be slapped in a case for a lan this weekend, then back out and then "oc'ing the hell out of hardware" phase will begin :P
Anywho, the 3dmark score that goes w/ the 2nd pic: http://service.futuremark.com/compare?2k1=6524168

As stang_man said, it is my Gigabyte 8KNXP ultra, my 1gb of xms3500, 2.4C, and right now an Albatron GFFX 5600. It needs a soundcard though. This onboard sound keeps crashing my system. :\ It's my work/DVD watching/play computer. 9800 Pro is out for modifications and overclocking hehe.Quote:

Hehe(feeling just a little bit sissy,compare to u guys "xtreme" modds:slobber: :slobber: ;)
Although its not exactly "xtreme" I have my 2.6C benchmarked at 3.6 (see Intel board). I got 2 or 3 Case fans (I can see 2 but I swear I have a 3rd one somewhere). I got a SLK800 with a P4 Adaptor (most xtreme thing I have) with the Might Vantec Tornado. I just got a job the other day, $60, but hell, its good if your 15!:DQuote:

hey bowman I live in VA too, in your picture you dont happen to be at the Cascades do you? Ive been there a couple times & the swimming there is freezingly cool.
My comp at it's fullest glory. Now if I can work about 15 days, at $60, I might be able to actually afford a Prommy....
I tried to bump up my "Xtreme-Ness" this weekend.
check it out,
:D
one more pic.
last one, I promise.
hey kunaak, what's the yellow thing in with your hard-drive?
thats a removable cage that holds the floppy drive and harddrive. it's the standard prometeia case.
that little disk is my kill it all disk.
that disc will kill all information on any hard drive, in a matter of 3 seconds, in 2 steps.
insert, and reboot.
after that it takes about 3 seconds for it to wipe all information of a hard drive, even my information salvaging programs don't work after using this disk.
very handy when killing all the crap on windows, without windows always trying to leave it's footprint on the hard drive even when you think it's cleaned.
sorry i was in las vegas on the strip in that pic.Quote:

My friend's system. It is P4-1.6@2.8/R9700Pro put in auto refrigerator with 9 liters of Castrol oil. Also, there is ice in bottles for keeping it cold.
Runs 3DMark at 26C on CPU and 16 on GPU. But unfortunately i don't know actual results.

Thanks!
The AC Unit was ordered from b&q online www.bandq.com. Its a 10,000 BTU Habicool unit. And cost me £250. Its very good and made a huge difference to my 3Dmark scores. I couldnt break 23k before, infact I was a long way off and the first day I had the AC unit on I broke 23k without breaking a sweat, infact I got 23400+ at 3.8Ghz. Couldnt even get 22800+ at 3.95Ghz before !!! Also helps to cool the Air For my Water wich in turn cools the TEC on the 9800. Id recommend an AC unit for any Extreme overclocker who lives in a warm area. Not only that but it keeps me nice and cool too :) My computer room gets bloody hot in the summer.
You can get them a lot cheaper and I saw Homebase selling a 10K BTU for £179, unfortunately all the places I went to had sold out - Damn hot weather ;) So I decided to pay a bit more and order one online.
It was worth it :)

It's not realy extreme, but it works damn fine!!! I can bench@241 fsb :p
I would say wow when you put all the "§§§§" in a case and made a nice finish. But on the other hand i don't recon you guys using our computers as normal people would atleast not your xtreme comps.

Wow Bowman,
You really cleaned the place up nice! How long you think it will stay so nice and neat? lol
It does look like a lab now....an evil, diabolical, world domination sort of lab, but a lab none the less. :D
Check out mine.

Waddya say? :)
No phase-change yet though its neat and works great :)
OK here are a few of mine...
this is my extreme computer desk. its an old micron moniter box with a slab of 3/4 inch ply wood i found laying in a friends back yard and 2 old end tables my aunt couldnt sell for $1.00 at a garage sale she had so she gave them to me.
here is my ghetto cooling system
I made a shroud out of duct tape cardboard and an exaust hose for a dryer and routed the cold air from my airconditioner into the intake fans of mt case
and
and finally my case
Oh and also since the question is 'How xtreme are you" i thought i would add my extreme tatto im working on right now!!!!
piercedandtatto,
Wow...looks like some nice work there bro!

man i love the ghetto system...awsome work there.:D

whoa, Piercedandtattoo doesn't fool around ;)
Man those are some nice procs. Where are you getting so many good ones? What batch are they?
I want a 2.4c that will do 4ghz :(
my 2.6c does 3.7 on air too:D
just tested my old 2.4 out, never really gave it much mind, but with -38 idle it worked its way up to 4.1, coudnt finish testing it though, had to redo the insulation, witch opend up a whole new set of problems :/Quote:

what do you guys look for when you are picking a proc? Any speciffic fpo/batch# or pack date? Or are you guys just realy lucky? I need you guys to by my next proc for me...I need a 2.6c, because I wanna try some 1:1 oc'ing with some ram that will hit around ddr600. My 2.4c will get too high for it, so Looks like a 2.6c is the next logical step, but I doubt I would have the kind of luck you guys have :D.
damn...didn't know fry's had such a good return policy...GOD DAMN IT!!! WHY ISN'T THERE A FRY'S IN ATLANTA!!!!
I was in cali a month back, I should have bought like 10 2.6c's and sent the ones back to my friend to return that weren't up to snuff.
Is there any reason in particular why there are 10k fry's, and none anywhere near the east coast? I live in the east...I have a computer...I would love to go to fry's, and test out 30 different procs, but nooooo.
:D
I am gonna try one of those local small computer stores, and see if they will let me do something like that. Maybe I can pay them like 5% more. That would be fine by me if I could get a product that could preform 20% better...and it wouldn't cost them anything.
You should tell him to §§§§ off, and that he just lost the business of a very good customer, and then report him to FRY's HQ.
Teach him to complain when you buy 20 procs and only keep 3 :D
Next time you have an extra 2.6c pm me. I will buy it from you :toast:
