I agree, my best performance is @ 399. It is stable dispite all the problems I have heard about at this level. I wanted to stay on the 1067 strap. I tried 450x8 and it was slower. This is as high as I can go with air cooling. The 7 mulyiplier does not work for me. I cannot get past 475. I guess 610Mhz is the limit for my NB. I ran Orthos for 1/2 hour at 399 and then I stopped it. I'll let it run some other time.

I am currently trying to run at (4:5); 998Mhz (5-5-5-15) but it is not Orthos stable. I can get Orthos to run for only 20 minutes inconsistently. I am at 2.15v for the memory.

you should be able to run 450fsb, 1:1 (DDR2-900) @ 4-4-4-12 with 2.3v. Give 'em a little voltage man!

I have run 450x8, but 399x9 beats it everytime in performance tests. E6600 is limited with PC6400 memory. I should have bought PC8000 or PC8500! My fastest speed came at 399x9 (4:5), so I am trying to make it stable.
I fryed 2x1GB of this ram at 2.40v. It must have been a bad batch.

what tests are you using to evaluate performance?

I use Super PI 1M and 32M. I ran Santra, but I am not sure that is really telling me about real life situations. I tried running 3dMark06, but I had trouble getting any results. I am new at this, so I don't know what I was doing wrong. Do you have any suggestions?

SuperPi is within a few tenths but 440 @ 1:1 wins every time. I thought maybe the extra memory bandwidth might take over running looser timings, but not so.... maybe because I have to drop 100mhz on the CPU to do it. Memory will not cut more than 1066mhz, so my CPU takes a hit running 4:5.

I'm just trying to find that sweet spot..... any tips?? CPU is tapped out at stabilty wise @ 3.56- 3.57g, so I back it down to 3.52- 3.53g for daily use. Rig does not like FSB around 400 just like everyone else. I tried 390x9, 4:5 divider, but it craps out in a few minutes w/ Orthos blend (has to be FSB strap related). I was really hoping to hit between 390- 400fsb @ 4:5 to push everything. I could try 375ish but thats just killing the CPU mhz.

Small question. I have a kit of F2-6400PHU2-2GBHZ which 1 stick just died 2 days ago. I just contacted G.Skill's RMA department to get a RMA #...

I woke up some day, powered the comp and nothing appeared on my LCD... After screwing\playing with the computer for hours (Trying to find the problem...), i found out that 1 of the 2 stick was dead. I tried to boot with each stick separately and only 1 of the 2 would make the comp to boot...

So, my question is, is it really safe to run 2.3v for 1000Mhz 4-4-4-12 for that particular RAM kit ? A good friend of me has his running at 2.35v 1000Mhz 4-4-4-12...

well well... the best way to run it is 800 cl4-4-4-12 with 1.9v :P
but to me micron IC.... good overclock always!!! but life of itself is not too long... from DDR we can tell it always like this...

for 24/7, i rather use CL5-5-5-15 @ 2v at DDR2 1000. that is kinda safe if you can make it. CL4 and CL5.... well other than super pi... i can't tell the difference

3-11-7-13 is the auto setting, micron can go to 3-10-5-10 no problem

it is nothing to do with your CPU overclock, well maybe lower TRRD to 4

Thanks. All thought it's stable @ stable for 400% of memtest @ 1000Mhz 5-5-5-15-4-42-3-10-5-13 2.0v the CPU is still ain't clocking any higher. I tried all sort of voltage combination for NB, FSB, SB etc.. and still the CPU won't do higher than 3.5Ghz stable. I also tried with a stick of D9 i had lying around and it didn't do any better so... Ram is not the problem and im really satisfied with the new kit i got back from you guys. Maybe the P5B Deluxe with latest BIOS is the problem after all. Anyway, Thanks!

I decide to play around and set my timings as follows:
4-4-4-4-4-20-3-11-7-13 at 2.05v. It is stable per initial Orthos testing. Everything seems to be loading faster than before when I was at 3.6Ghz and 800Mhz (1:1) at stock settings. What is your opinion of this?

Am currently running 1030Mhz 2.1v 4-4-4-12-4-42-3-11-7-13 Windows and Bios Memtest stable + Orthos stable too :) Haven't tried anything else yet. But so far, i like these settings.

I'm wondering what much of a difference do you get by setting a 4 instead of the stock 12 for the fourth timing.

I was using 2x1GB (F2-6400PHU2-2GBHZ) for some time at 835 MHz without problems, now I bought a second pair (also F2-6400PHU2-2GBHZ) and I get memory errors in memtest86+ when I clock the ram at 835 - these problems are gone when the ram is at 668 MHz.

I have a P5B Deluxe and a C2D E6600 (266x9 -> 334x9).
There are no memory errors when I test 1 or 2 of the modules - when I insert all 4 I get errors in the 4th slot (doesn't matter which ram I put there) but sometimes the errors are also in other slots.

I know it sounds like a motherboard problem but maybe someone knows a solution...

btw.: memory remapping is enabled and I'm using the timings seen on page one here

Nerspider....I run 4x1Gb in Vista x64 without any problems. I have easily run 333x9 with my ram at (4:5) 833Mhz with stock settings at 2.05v. I have also run at 400x9 with my ram (1:1) 800 Mhz with stock settings at 2.05v.

you're running it at 5-5-5-15, I used 4-4-4-12 @2.0v (from here)
maybe that's the problem... I'll try upping my voltage a little

You can try reseating your ram. That works sometimes. If you are getting errors all you can do is raise the voltage. But I do not want to go beyond the the tested spec...2.0 ~ 2.1v. Thats why I lossened the timings. I would like my ram to last awhile. As a last resort try raising the voltage for the Northbridge, but it runs hot.

I just started trying my hand at my first overclock. I now have my FSB at 333 MHZ. I have 2 GB of G.SKill F2-6400CL4D-2GBPK DDR2 800. Right now I am running it at 4:5 so I am overclocking it slightly at DDR2 833. Vdimm is 1.9V as recommended at the start of this thread. Everything is stable as per Prime95 and Memtest. Currently my subtimings are as set automatically by the BIOS:

5-5-5-13-?-?-?-?-?-?

Before my overclock I was running this RAM at its rated speed (DDR800) with the following subtimings:

4-4-4-10-4-42-3-11-7-13

Now I want to set the subtimings manually to tighten them a little. I can play around with the first four timings (now at 5-5-5-13), but I have no idea what I should do with the other 6. I want to leave them (for now) at some "safe" numbers so I can get the first 4 as tight as possible without worrying about the other 6. So, for now, should I leave them at the recommended 4-42-3-11-7-13, or could this be too tight given my overclock?

4-42-3-11-7-13 is good. you can try to tight it more.

hi all, i have 6300 (L2) and a Pb5Dlx and have managed to oc my rig to 2.8 (1:1 RAM 400MHZ BUS) but it seems i have the same problems as TORTEL user here in XS, i cant pass the 420MHZ wall i have G.skill F2-6400CL5D-2GBNQ 2gb RAM. Now since ive been reading it says it not good overclocker this ram i got. so i strarted tweaking the timings sinse i think i wont go over the 400mhz bus, and LOL i manage to get these intresting timings on a 1.9v 4.4.4.12-2-35-3-9-6-9 i have test my ram with Prime and done 8hours no problems at these setting, i understand these are very tight timings (btw are these D9 micron chips?) but sinse i can do so good with timings what can be my problem with the 420+ wall, should i try 500mhz with 2.1v and if i do, do i need to air cool my ram? at that voltage? (and of course lossen timings)

i don;t think that is D9 chip and the 2.1v should be ok but just make sure it don't get to hot.

i never try 500mhz on NQ. not sure they run CL5 500 or not.

Kinda funny that someone mentions me, but I think my problem was a bad clocking e6300, it loves to suck down volts.


Anyway, I have the 2gbNQ, and I was wondering if I were to get another set, would they still maintain their DDR2-800 rating? I know a friend that got 4 sticks of this ram, and she couldent run them at above 336mhz.

To answer my last question, after installing another set of the 2GBNQ, I dont run stable at 400x7 anymore, but I do at anything less than 400. Now Im at 399x7

Hello, I bought a second 1GBNQ module ( CL5D-1GBNQ PC-6400 ) ( I bought the first one year ago ) but I now have BSOD and program crashes in vista.

The modules are in dual channel mode ( same color slot ) , and I use these timings and vloltage : use 1.9v 5-5-5-15-4-42-3-11-7-13

So I did a memtest ( last version ) and it finds errors. I also did it with each module separately and only the new one makes errors.
This new module looks a little bit different ( the rad is a little different) but it's still the same package and Everest see the same module.
I think these settings doesn't work anymore with these modules.
