Because it jumps directly to 3.1V ? :stick:Quote:

rite now i'm at 390x9 on my e6600 steppin 6.. it's not stable but at least can boot.
btw, why i cant find cpu multiplier in the bios? i'm using Stilt mod bios...
I think the ds3 and ds4 are @ 9 x 400 @ they`re max. We need another great bios :) . My ds3 rocks @ 9 x 400, If I can do 9 x 450 I`m happy :) .
on my dq6 i can do 367, ds4 360. so for me 390 (so far) is consider good already :D
but where is the multiplier? i wanna do 400x8 for daily use! :(
does this board even exsist in the USA ?
has anyone seen it forsale here ?
I would also like to know that. Froogle doesn't list it.
This board doesn't exist, nearly anywhere.
Absolutely nowhere in the USA. In the other thread we have found a couple places in Germany that are actually taking orders for it.
I called Biostar-USA in CA last week and they have no ETA on a US release.
and in my place i can find it quite in number :D
Lucky.
Are you using the memory in your sig? I have read through the threads and I am worried a bit about my OCZ 800 Gold and this board, I believe it will boot but hopefully its not flakey like the other boards.
I really don't mind waiting a bit longer, cause that will just force me to wait and get a better deal on an E6600 as well; but it would be nice to see an ETA for US release.
well i'm using mushkin ddr2 800. never have problem during boot either in gigabyte or this biostar.. and it is capable of doing 1088mhz @ 5-6-5-15 2.2vdimm..Quote:

uhm fix that picture so we can actually read it.
save it as a jpg or gif a gif will make it a pretty small file size but you can increase the actually frame size of the picture.
you cant even read that picture
talked to some biostar rep and he said they have huge shortage of this model :(
Somebody needs to lose their job over that. I mean based on the few results we have its a little early to make a solid statement about the board, but if results like this continue, Biostar is missing out on the business of all the people fed up with dealing with garbage boards. Hell there isn't really even a board yet that will work 100% flawlessly right out of the box (shipped BIOS) WITHOUT adding overclocking to the mix.Quote:

i got this board but max fsb is 366. anyone can help me get pass this wall? and did you guys replace the nb hsf? mine is TOO HOT to touch, even with a fan blowing on it.
wow, for 130 bucks and 530fsb this is much better than the ds3, maybe i should wait for my conroe setup
I just spoke with Biostar sales department in the US. I asked them about availability of this motherboard. He stated that the motherboards are en route and should be available for purchase in 10 days.
Feel free to call for yourself and confirm (626) 581 1055.
Nice, last week they told me no ETA. Good news indeed. Thanks for the effort man. :)Quote:

Did you used memset and setfsb to see what latency`s are the best for your mem ? p965 chipset is very buggy,
I could not go higher than 9 x 400 on my ds3 and with memset and setfsb, I knew what the ideal settings were for my mem, changed them in de the bios and voila
i could post at 422 fsb but i think my cpu cannot take it.
how to meansure vdimm from the coil nearest to ramslots?i put red clip on he coil and then where should i out my black clip?
and one more thing,im using stilt moded bios, when i set cl to 5 or 6,cpuz will show cl3
Black on ground.Quote:

I got nice reply from Biostar support
...Dear Sir
Thanks for your update.
Basically , we won't guarantee that all brands memory can be run normally
on our mainboard because they use different memory chip...
:slapass:
Got my board today.
Results so far are not too bad. I can run up to 440MHz FSB with boxed air (multi 7x)
With a single-stager my max. FSB rises to 480~482MHz.
http://home.hccnet.nl/J_Bongers/P965/480.JPG
Concidered that my 200 euro Asus P5B Deluxe does 455MHz FSB boxed air and 490MHz FSB with SS then this 130 euro Biostar isn't bad at all :)
I have some severe problems with that VIA chip and my Pioneer DVD writer, so can't install windows right now. Is it possible to use IDE --> Sata convertor for a DVD burner ? And also this board doesn't boot with PC2-3200 sticks. I have 2x512mb PC3200 fatbody's doing 500mhz 4-3-2-8 easy but they don't boot. My AENEON PC2-4200 sticks died so can't use them either. Still i'm happy with this board because it does boot at 370 with my dead AENEON so i'm past that stupid wall on my 975X/G infinity. When I get the DVD writer working and another set of mem i'll defently let you know how this board goes !!
damn nice :nono:Quote:

this mobo definitely better than my ex-ds3 coz i have no problem booting my e6600 over 400fsb x9,intel raid, built in power/reset button, cmos reloaded & US$25 cheaper than DS3.
bad-vdimm 2.2v only & no cpu ratio
this is another screenshot dropping cpu ratio using crystalcpuid :

Well I have a problem again, my board mem combination doesn't like 1:1. I only can get 420mhz FSB :stick: I'll need 2,6Vdimm for that. But strange thing is that the memory isn't exactly the problem, in other divider it can reach 420 on 2,2V but on 1:1 I need 2,6Vdimm for it and it's strange too because if I change from 4-3-2-8 to 4-4-4-8 it doesn't change max FSB at all while Vdimm defently does. So pretty weird but I might wanna try other memories because I think it's the memories flashed SPD which is the problem.
need new revision :DQuote:

Just got this mobo today and currently priming my little E6300 at 3GHz... stock vcore and stock cooler of cause... Heck, all the voltages were left stock. Except for the RAMs, which got the 2.2VDIMM jumper treatment (actual 2.1V).
The NB heatsink gets a litte warm at 429FSB, but considering that I didn't raise the chipset volt, it is not too hot. In fact, its just warm to touch. I have a 120mm case fan facing towards the mobo though. But the MOSFETs are starting to warm up a little. Maybe those fellas need some heatsinks on them. The board has the mounting ready for a PWM heatsink.
Cheers! :toast:
I couldn't find the pwm hs. been searching for it for a long timeQuote:

I seriously need one. Limited to 472FSB here... :slapass:
Cooling the NB with TR HR-05 and the CPU is cooled by Ultra-90.
Tried everything... even giving 1.55Vcore.
I doubt my RAM is limiting me because I'm running the PC2-8000 VX2. It does 500MHz at CL4 with 2.3V... Yeah, got the VDIMM mod done. Feeding 2.3V to the sticks...
With the VDIMM mod, the VDIMM can go up to 2.6V easily. It can go further though (up to 3V!)...just don't dare to kill my VX2 yet! :nono:
^Btw, it should read like this "The board has the mounting ready for PWM heatsink" :P
Edit: Flashed to The Stilt's modded BIOS and currently doing Memtest at 3.4GHz - 485FSB!
Okay... finally got ClockGen working with this board.
I used ClockGen 1.0.4.8 and PLL setup to ICS 9PLRS509.
Hope this info useful for others with this board.
But still cant get it to do 485FSB... grrrh
where the hell can you even buy this board ?
The board is retailing here, in Malaysia. For RM500 (USD$136).Quote:

Just tested the GeForce 7950GX2 on this board and it doesn't boot! :slapass:
Back to my good ol' X800XL!
So if anyone planning to stick a 7950GX2 onto this board, please take not that it will not work. Well, at least with the current BIOS.. but I don't think a BIOS update is going to allow it to run the GX2.
Got some good O/Cing and I'm quite happy with the motherboard.
Here's my set-up. Used Swiftech's chip-set HSH for the NB.

Sigh... I still couldn't get past 472FSB with my E6300.
Managed to post at 486FSB a couple of times but usually crashes at memtest!
My CPU does 3.3GHz 472FSB at 1.424V prime stable, so I doubt my CPU is holding me. Anyhow, I couldn't maxout my CPU because of this motherboard... or perhaps it has already maxed? Tried 1.5V to 1.6V also can't go over 472FSB.
My RAMs are rated at 500MHz.. so not a problem either. NB is cooled by TR HR-05 and SI-120 on the CPU. Feeding a 700W FSP PSU to it... so everything is ready for over 500FSB. I guess its the board... :(
Any idea if this board dislikes OCZ (D9) RAMs? Will try some HyperX later (Elpida ICs)...

holy hell... the easiest vdimm mod ive seen. lol
now if i can only get my hands on one of these boards to play with.. my ds4 is getting boring

Currently running 8x360 (1.3625V) 1:1 CAS 3-4-4-9 (2.2V) with ease, but everything above that doesen´t boot. Tried everything from 361 to 450... all voltages, CAS 6-7-7-20... only result is machine booting up by it self, LED1 shuts off (LED2 on) and two long beeps. After that another boot and the board is at stock FSB :/
LED1 off / LED2 on = VGA error, but changing to Radeon X300SE didn´t help, so it´s probably memory related. I haven´t tried change all memory latencies... four lowest options are at AUTO setting. Should I change them too? Or does someone have any other ideas cause I´m sure running out...
I´m using 8/03 bios modded by The Stilt.
The Rebels Haven has a mod version of the new 914 BIOS. Here's the changelog:
Changed Default Setting
Full Screen Logo: Set to Disable
EPA Logo: Set to Enable
Summary Screen: Set to Enable
Thermal Control: Set to Disable
C1E Function: Set to Disable
Execute Disable Bit: Set to Disable
Virtualization Technology: Set to Disable
Unhid:
CPU L1 & L2 Cache
Load Failsafe Defaults
Auto Detect PCI Clk
Spread Spectrum: Set Startup to Disable
Cas: 1,2,7,8,9,10
Trcd: 1,2
Trp: 1,2
Moved:
Memory Hole: moved to DRAM Configuration
As the board is not as yet available in the USA, so they are looking for someone that can recover from a bad flash to test the BIOS. The modder has a long track record of successful mods, so it should be OK..... Anyone?
2 forumers from this forum have tried that bios :
http://forum.lowyat.net/index.php?sh...&#entry8524256
You tested the Official 914, not the Mod 914. But the 914 doesn't have the NB/SB voltage setting? Is that what I read? That sucks if true...
Link to the Bios for D/L. thank you.Quote:

Anyone figured out a vcore mod yet?
The 1,8000v option in the bios isn't enough for me (gives ~1,71v DMM)
I need up to 1,85v for cascade testing of my CPU so a vcore mod is necessary.

Hey PC Mod, have you heard anything as to why it isn't available in the states?
Is 2.2 reg max V on this puppy?
Yup... I've posted the reason in my TForce P965 DLX review. Read up the conclusion part... the reason behind has something to do with chipset stock limitation.Quote:

Thanks a bunch PC Mod. You're always helpful.
Biostar always has passive heatsink. I guess to cut costs they do this. They put no info whatsoever on release dates.
btw the DFI is running tremendous. Never got to modding the case so I'm thinking of doing an Epox 6100 am2 till the e4300 comes out... unless a GOOD cheapie motherboard comes out. Was thinking on the DS3 but I hate junkabyte and I don't know about the s3 even though it seems it's the same.
