anyway guys i need help
what i can use to increase fsb and voltage on windows?that asus ai suite is total crap:slap: :slapass:
If you have enough cooling can't you just max it out in the bios? Or do you want to save a few cents or something by lowering the voltage when you don't need it. Btw, what the hell is PCIe frequency? I can find AGP but can't find pci-e defualt frequency.
well looks like this crappy mobo need a lot of vmod
i've set 1,68 on bios and i get only 1,5 full and 1,52 idle
i need atleast 1,6 for my cpu prime'n atm 470x7@3,2ghz
does clockgen works for this mobo? :(
http://img222.imageshack.us/img222/9...thospo8.th.jpg
i'll wait around 30/40 mins then i'll go higher
Yeah the vdrop on this mobo is insane. I see at least .1 volts and sometimes more under load. It is also distressingly flaky. I thought all was well and good but today it has been crashing/rebooting randomly again.
Yea I'm getting 1.58v from 1.7v in asus probe. There is something in the bios that says if you boot with lower voltage it will guess that you cpu shouldn't go much higher. I think I tricked it once, I posted about it before.
"When U boot with windows at auto vcore and 266fsb then change it to 1.7v it will show 1.48v on probe. If you boot at 385fsb and 1.7v into windows the first time you can get probe to show 1.6v. I think the bios has some kinda AI (though I did turn it all off in bios or I couldn't even go past 320fsb)."
So if you have a lot of time on your hands, clear the cmos, and set the overclock on first boot, boot into windows and see if anything changed.
here's 470 now i'm running at 500x7

Congrats on the success and 500 fsb :) Wish I could say the same but I finally decided I had enough @%!(ing around with that bios and reverted to 0211 which is working splendidly. The bios was flaky at best and would cause random crashes and reboots during video intensive things. I couldn't play WoW for more than five minutes without a windows system lockup or application crash even with orthos running merrily along in the background. High fsb was a crapshoot, most of the time crashing before windows initialization even with loose timings and comparatively low overall cpu speeds. I would venture to guess that Asus tweaked certain elements of the pcie bus with this bios and that is perhaps what caused the instability that I and others have experienced. Hope the next bios fixes some of these issues.
all i can say is..check yer vcore..set vfsb at 1,4..set pcie o 110mhz tnx to this i went over 470fsb and reached that 500 :banana:Quote:

Hmm I'll try 1.4 and 110 pci-e x16, though you really think theres a difference to 1.45v?
Nope, didn't do squat. I wish there was an auto feature for the extra ram settings I have no clue about, maybe that's why I can't run super pee at 900mhz ram stable.
did you try by SPD ? I also have no cluw what are most of the new options :p:
I have p5b deluxe and have a LOT of problems with it and a 6400 processor.
I can't figure out if its the cpu or the mb.
2 gig of HZ gskill memory and ninja cooler.
Fresh install it ran ok. OC to 333 fsb with only a little bit more cpu voltage.
BUT the temps are high.. 48C idle and 58C with prime running.
Well I am thinking all kind of things but why this how...damn
So I go back to stock settings idle at 45C and max temp is 54C
SO I got crazy and wanted to see how high it would go, oc and temps
so I ended up at 1.435 volts on cpu and 2.1 on memory and 410 fsb.
MAN this thing is great but temps were way high.
53C idle and 62-63C with 2 primes running.
well let me go to stock and check temps and stability and see...everything runs
ok...can even undervolt to 1.15 volts and runs fine boots into windows but a little unstable.
but it was just a test for low temps and I get 34C in coretemp with this voltage and all stock.
NOW is where the weird begins.
I can not go higher than 300 fsb no matter what I select.voltage and memory I believe I could select
the highest on the chart and not get it to boot into windows.
IF I had not gone to 410 with this setup and hardware I would just say
oh well lemon processor and just my luck.
|SiLA| is there any chance you can post screenies of your bios settings or tell me what I have to set to get back up to oc speeds.
Its beyond me how I got there. This makes no since to me at all. anything over 300 and it won't do even get into windows.
thanks for any help pointers or flames this is driving me crazy

Wow can you believe Asus removed the 0309 bios because of a buncha noobs on the asus forums? That's lamerific.

Um? You have been berating people on various forums clm and I can't imagine why you're harboring so much anger. ASUS should have removed that bios because numerous people were having issues with it. It's not an insult against you. I would much rather have a stable product than one which is flaky for 20% of users regardless of the performance enhancements. I'm sure before the week is out we'll see an upgraded bios that is stable and contains all of the performance enhancements of the 0309 bios.
they put it back up
http://support.asus.com/download/dow...Language=en-us
maybe now it's not beta anymorr?
Asus Web site is bad. Don't look there for updates, look directly on the FTP.
As for the removing because some people have problem, it's not a reason. The only reason Asus will pull out a bios is for MAJOR problem (like corrupted Bios, or something that "kill" the board.) If it flash correctly and the board still work, they will leave it there.
There is some people with problem and some without (I run it and don't have problem, beside the 533Mhz FSB bug that is there since 0211) Just install 0213 back if you have problems.
All the people who have problems with the board have incompatible or atiquated hardware running on a board meant for conroe or atleast Pentium D 900's.
Other just have silly problems like wrong connections, wrong bios settings, or horrible cooling; they can read my sig for help.
A small percent can have a defect which can be solved by buying from a website with an rma service or buying it from a reputable store.
There's no reason to :banana::banana::banana::banana: about the board, it's not an Asrock or Iwill (a.k.a I will not work) where the board just dies for no reason after a year.
"All the people who have problems with the board have incompatible or antiquated hardware..."
Well I would hardly consider my current system antiquated or the cooling on it horrible. I replaced the nb cooler with a thermalright hr-05, put a nexus 80mm fan on it, installed a scythe ninja plus on my conroe e6600 which I lapped to 1500 grit, and keep the case well ventilated. I have a quality power supply and have set up the connections properly. Despite this I have had problems with the latest bios which I think is indicative of either a deeper incompatibility or some timing issue. Can't wait for a more stable update though; I'd love to be cracking out 500 fsb like sila.
XFX 7900gtx
or 2x1gb Team 667 3-4-4-8
Or you don't know what pci-e or latency to set to overclock.
Try 4-5-5-12 going up one level will get you to 800mhz unless your ram is just not overclockable.
Lower your pci-e bus for the 7900.
I have wd sata too, 500w psu, corsair 675mhz 4-4-4-12 1.9v ram, and an x850xt.
Check overclockability with team ram and the 7900gtx. I never heard of team ram. Maybe it can't overclock. That's why I bought trusty corsair ram. Does 900 fine, NM needs more voltage. Still no answer from asus wether NB voltage was boosted to get our stable overclocks since I think it is different than fst voltage and not listed in bios monitor.
But 99% must be your ram, card or bios settings. I already showed pics of mine. In new bios im using 1.5v now because of sudden death caused my transistor damage from high voltage.
Just so you know, Team memory is quite good. You can find the thread detailing this set of memory here: http://www.xtremesystems.org/forums/...d.php?t=101692.
Well reading the forums, u aint the only one with 7900gt/gtx problems.
I received my E6600 yesterday so I want to update.
- Bios 0309 is stable with conroe (so far)
- For the chipset temps, I removed the cooler and put some AS5 paste. I also added a small 50mm 23db fan on it. Result ? temps are now 91F instead of 130F ! Really woth doing it.
- Temps for me are 36C idle and 41C load (Speedstep disabled)
I told you soooo.... Did you use zip ties like I did? The screws are way too small for the heatsink.Quote:

Post your ram and overclock success. I bret you are tweaking, gaming, and benching like crazy now...ENJOY.
I used double sided tape. 4 small in corners and one bigger in the middle of the fan.. it stick there fairly well.
had no time to tweek or overclock yet.. this computer is also my working computer so... will have fun later.
no update for me till i don't get a new bios :D
450*8 1,46vcore 24/7 setup :)
btw might be a wird question but...:
Since I use my E6600, the Vcore change under load, but not in a bad way. My VCore is 1.17V idle and when under load, jump to 1.26V. (while with my Celeron, it was 1.40V idle and 1.30V load)
EIST (Speedstep) is disabled. I tried it and it does the same, but VCore goes as low as 1.05V with EIST. (CPU running at 1.5Ghz)
What is the Default VCore of the Conroe ? 1.3V or 1.35V ?
disable everything under yer cpu config heheQuote:

Hi
I started playing a bit with my E6600 (finally)
So far it's going nice. 2.95Ghz with stock voltage (1.28V) The Ram is holding me back (damn OCZ Plat that don't like running 1:1)
The only problem I have is the "false start" one. When I first boot the computer, it open for 1 second then shut down.. 2 seconds after, it boot again but this time it's ok.
I have seen that many time in my test, but I have no clue what is causing that. Probably a bad strap, I don't know.
got that :banana::banana::banana: too when i have too much overclock :DQuote:

A few questions:
1. What is the minimum VCore setting in the newest BIOS?
2. Does the MB emit any high-pitch noise if you turn of other noise sources and listen very carefully?
Thanks in advance!
After 2 hours, one of the 2 Prime I was running made an error and got killed by Windows.. Guess I will put some more volt there (1.28V is still quite low)
1. Can't remember, but it's in the 1.2xx (with the Vdrop, probably some 1.1xx numbers)
2. Nope.
Too much overclock ? I don't think so. It's doing this with FSB at 280-290 too.Quote:

my impressions of P5B vanilla so far with E6600:
for starters, i had hard time to boot up and run a 1M at the same speed the same cpu was running on p5wdh 24/7, that is 380x9 (1:1 mem 2.1v)
Actually 380x9 was the max i could make with this mobo.
vcore is usually 0.08-0.09v lower than set from bios in idle and another 0.02v lower with load. 1.7v (1.544v idle) was too much for it.
tried to find fsb wall with 6-8 multipliers, 410 failed orthos and 415 failed 1M.
405 was at least 30mins orthos stable but failed dual 32M :)
atm running 400x8 1.6v (1.504v idle real).
tried different mem timings and speeds with no luck.
another note - PEG force x1 should force pci express to x1 speeds but in reality it makes system unpostable and needs clear cmos :)
also - PCI latency setting doesn't work at all, thus making my soundscape mixtreme soundcard nonfunctional.
What are you using for cooling?
It would have been a killer board with raid. I bet they just disabled it for marketing reasons. Since the delux version has raid.
water for both cpu and NB.Quote:

btw, that "false start", i think, is when the board sets the multiplier.
when i had the "change ratio" enabled, then it always did that..
humm I will see if I left it Enabled (I tried it, it work, but I set it back to 9x)
I'm nearly sure I disabled it.
There is a lot of potential with this board and E6600.. I can post at 8x400 VERY easy, but my memory is totally unstable at this speed. Didn't tried more because of that.
Until I find a way to make the OCZ Platinum memory to run correctly in 1:1, I'm stuck under 3Ghz.

I was really worried I wouldn't get a good OC and end up not breaking ~330 FSB.. I'd be happy with with 360 x 9 or 400 x 8. My ultimate hope and dream is 400 x 9 hehe.
you'd might wanna buy e6400 instead of e6600 with that mobo ;)
clock-for-clock, besides spi times, there's small difference 2M vs 4M.
and allendales are proven to be nice overclockers on P5B.
that was a little suggestion.. because now i'm back on P5Wdh and running my e6600 at 3.5ghz.. the speed i wasn't able to POST on P5B :)
no need of 3rd party chipset cooler. just get yourself a 50mm fan and put it over it. Remove the bubblegum stuff they use as thermal paste and put some AS5 and your ready to go.
Temp dropped A LOT by doing htis (over 40F)
what is the WR fsb on this mainboard ?
517 I think.
Please Help me ! friends.. asus p5b and e-6300.. bios 0309 but not 333 and up fsb.. ram is micron d9 (spectek) ddr2-667.. no overclocking help me.. :(
(import. asus vento + psu 300w , vga x300se)
Your PSU at 300W would definitely be the problem. Did you looked in the manual ? It say 350W minimum (and even there, it's damn short for overclocking)
Having issues to overclock a E6600 + P5B non deluxe...
My setup :
P5B non deluxe
E6600
Aerocool GT-1000
2x 1GB Crucial PC6400 (4-4-4-12)
Zalman 460W PSU
other bits are : 1xRadeon 1900XT 512MB, 2xSATA drives, 1xATA drive, 1xATA DVD writer, 1x Creative Labs Audigy ZS, 1 Belkin Wireless network card
I have the latest 0309 bios on my motherboard and I've got problems to overclock this damn thing past 330.
I have tried :
- upping the Cpu Vcore to 1.5v
- FSB to 400mhz as recommended by some
- Disabled Spread Spectrum
- Disabled legacy USB
- PCI Express @ 100
- PCI clock @ 33.3
..
but it will just lock up, system will do the two phase boot (power up, down and up) but then locks up with numlock key on.
I tried putting Vcore up to 1.6v that didn't help, upping Vdimm to 2.1v didn't help either.
what are your temps ? I didn't had problem to boot at 333x9, but memtest failed (I have memory problem) I even tried 350x9 and 400x8. All of them post with 1.35V, but memtest fail again.
Ok, I used this motherboard for the first computer that I built, and after getting the parts, RMA'ing incompatible RAM (pqi Turbo 1GB 800Mhz), getting my corsair stuff, and getting windows working, PC Probe is giving me a reading of 56 degrees Celsius on idle. It was more but that was before reseating the stock heatsink/fan and changing the CPU fan to performance mode in BIOS. Despite being the noob that I am, I am pretty certain that thats way too hot for an idling CPU without any OC'ing. I am not even trying to OC with this, all I want is to simply cool it down. Any suggestions?
EDIT: Well, I know I could use some arctic silver and a better HSF, but for now I am looking for suggestions that don't resort to new hardware.
As advised from somebody in this board I tried to boot up from 380 by setting multiplier at 8. Tried setting Cpu vcore to 1.4 and other various things upped, machine would boot up but randomly crash during Windows startup.Quote:

Would anyone know if a Tuniq Tower 120 would cool this cpu to acceptable levels like 50c idle ?
Cheers
Has the issue with FSB533 CPU's been resolved?
Don't run it constantly at that voltage, you'll eventually kill your chip that way.Quote:

No it doesn't, there is quite a mismatch between the P5B bios setting and what I read in CPU-Z. Can't remember for sure now what was the voltage required to push above 3.2ghz on the E6600 but it was I am pretty sure in the highs 1.4vQuote:

Anyone think a new bios is in order? BTW, I'm at 2.9ghz stable still :)
I can't believe I almost waited so long for a P5NSLI (570 sli intel edition). I read that board can't even o/c past 275, surely not worth getting two nvidia cards or two of any since API specs change so fast (DX10 etc...).
I hope this board isn't dead.
another satisfied user here with the vanilla.
had a hard time to find timings for those last four spd settings.
if i kept those timings @ default 10-10-10-10, orthos would fail after a few seconds, and it wouldn't even run spi 32M.
i finally got it working and i hope this settings can help those having problems.
so if your'e having stability issues try to use this spd settings:
4-4-4-12-4-42-3-10-5-13
some mems can handle tighter timings, but for the most usual, this settings should let you run your mems @ 850/880 with the 2.1vdimm that the board has available.(try to get a vdimm mod for this one in the vmods secction so you can take you D9's chips where they deserve to be)
i´m running my 6400 @ 405 x 8 spi 32M stable. i'll prime later on tonight, cause i'm running on stock cooler and getting 65 celsius during dual spi32M.
http://img428.imageshack.us/img428/1...m405zt5.th.jpg
i plan on getting the CPU lapped & watercooled during next week and i believe i could achieve 3.400 orthos stable.
I'm not sure whether you are using P5B or not.Quote:
