One question about the difference between TRAY and BOX version of the Conroe...are there any other difference between them except the BOX and the stock cooler?...like waranty (as AMD chips) or the chip quality?
Regards,
Primoz
I don't think the OEMs come with the standard 3 year warranty.
but you're probably gonna overl:banana::banana::banana::banana: the chip, which would void the warranty anyway.
I have overclocked chips and sent them back for RMA. So yes, you void the warranty - but you can send them back most of the time and get a replacement.Quote:

Totally agree. Unless the chip is in really bad shape, they normally go through and gets replaced. :)Quote:

Another piece for you crazy about Conroe pre(orders)
Intel Core 2 Duo Combos @ Monarch Computer - CPU + mobo
Not so good news (although expected) is that:
1. combos are scheduled to ship on August 21st,
2. orders are presale and are neither refundable nor cancelable,
3. transaction will be billed at the time of the order.
It might be a good indication of their C2D prices, though...
E6300 - $210, E6400 - $246, E6600 - $350, E6700 - $575, X6800 - $1020
... all this to make your heads spin a bit more
please every 5 secs:D but man am i getting tired i been stayin up till 4 and getting up way too early please hurry u stupid sites, im jk i love u sites now give me what i wantQuote:

that does not make me happy
well provided zzf has stock, i think they'd be the better deal anyway. Ive not been impressed with monarch.
Glad I always read small print. Forget Monarch.
... nope... nor is Tech Data, ASI, Synnex ...Quote:

So the true release is August 7th, I'll be damned :p:
so i guess the days of my being flamed for saying that the release date of c2d seems a little iffy are over.
fact is today is the 27th, the latest guaranteed release date, and nary a conroe for sale to be found. just a legend or 2.
very truly yours,
politenessman
At least it gives mobo manufacturers more time to produce a good mobo, by the time core duo is readily availble, hopefully RD600 will be out!
^^ Sorry dude, you won't be seeing RD600 boards by August 7th
I just really wish they would get one out so we could atleast see some DFI feature sets and engineering sample tests.
Hence i used the term readily available! ;)Quote:

Why no one believe what Intel say ? :p:
I think we will at least know whats going on by the end of the day. I'm pretty sure after the Core2 launch presentation there will be tons of information.Quote:

Did you actually think you could order at 12AM?:p: Patience....
I just wanna say thanks to TankGuys. I ordered from them a few weeks ago, and I really appreciate their continued communication about our Conroe pre-order status. Also, it's cool of you to show your face on these boards.Quote:

E6300 is back in stock at ZZF for $20 more.

If I order from Tank Guys to the UK will I be charged Tax on it? Does anyone have an idea as to when Tank Guys might have the C2D E6600? Thanks guys
I'm going to wait until 3PMEST at least. By then we should find out if other C2D models are in stock, or find out if those who ordered the e6300 from zzf have received their shipping notice.
Well, there is a page for Core 2 Duo Extreme at NewEgg now. Ouch...
http://promotions.newegg.com/intel/080406/index.html
Doesn't link to the product, but if that is any indication on how their pricing will be then I won't bother to continue checking their page.
Wow. How did you find that? Now where the hell are the lower end processors like e6600?Quote:

I couldn't agree more given that ZZF lists the X6800 at $1015.Quote:

Still waiting on that E6400...AAAAAAAAAAAAAAAH! Everytihng is ready to go but the processor!!!!
The E6300 is back in stock, but the price has went up to $219. I placed an order with 2nd day shipping (yes, I am desperate for one). It will cost me a few more cents than it will at buy.com but I am getting the CPU sooner, which is worth it.Quote:

There "in stock" don't mean anything will you guys ever learn? :DQuote:

I am planning on overclocking the E6300's FSB to 1333MHz, which should give me a processor speed of 2.33GHz. It could probably go further, but I am only interested in running my CPU synchronously with my RAM.
Already been posted in the other thread.
no that it makes a difference to me; i have 6600 pre ordered. the guys who ordered from zzf earlier when they were $199 have already got confirmation notices. so they ordered them, now they have been confirmed in stock and will ship. so maybe you can explain to me how this does not mean "in stock"

E6300 >>> 400x7 = 2800mhz
E6400 >>> 400x8 = 3200Mhz
the gigabyte Ds3 seams to be the best choice with a conroe 2mb cache (E6300 & E6400) for what i´ve see the DS3 with conroe 2 mb cache run easly +- 440 FSB , so with a E6400 maybe you can get 3.5Ghz >>> 440x8 = 3500mhz :D
In my opinion , Buying a Conroe E6300 or E6400 to run it at 2.3ghz its not too smart but not all ppl like to overclok .
regards
You must be joking. My E6300 is already packed at ZZF.Quote:

And, now actually thinking about it...I hope it doesn't get "IN STOCK" until maybe noonish or so, that way I can get my CC from my sister!!
My order said "packed" for days when it was listed as "in stock". There system is messed up. I paid extra for overnight air and my so called packed order never got shipped but my credit card got charged.Quote:

A lot of people have ran into the "packed" issue with zipzoomfly.
And a lot of people, like me, have not.Quote:

What did you order and how much did it cost?
$500 of PC hardware one of the items where not in stock even though online it said it was so it held up the hole order. I waited for days and they never botherd to tell me. I thought it would ship since it said it had been packed and i had been charged for it all already.Quote:

btw i placed the same order with newegg and got it the next day it did cost me more but didn't cause any headaches.
This is quite tempting, but being ZZF I'd have to worry that with overnight shipping it wouldn't be here tomorrow knowing how slow they can be with processing orders. They took three business days to process my last order which is unacceptable. I think I'll wait for the 6600 to come in stock elsewhere.
That sucks Chris82. I've never ordered a complete system's worth of parts from ZZF at the same time. It's always one or two items max.
Yep placed my order on a Wed thinking i would get it that week...boy was i wrong!Quote:

what is wrong with an 'OEM' chip??
No warranty and no heastsink. Other than that nothing.
[QUOTE=BlazingArrow]what is wrong with an 'OEM' chip??[/QUOTE
Less Warranty. No heatsink/fan
I'll wait for Retail on ZZF
yay! i will be staying up all night for that one :D
I dont think intel gives you warranty on oem chips just the etailor does but i all ways buy them cause you save some bucks and i dont want the hsf
geeez...that's sooo tempting, i have a heatsink so that doesnt bother me at all...
hmmm, do you think they'll have retail at 3 EST??
except when the price is marked up on them due to new release.Quote:

That's what I'm hoping. They're located in FL, so I hope 3PM isn't too late to get same day shipping. I suggest to avoid processing time you pay through noncc paypal. That's what I plan on doing, and there is absolutely no waiting.Quote:
