Whether or not it makes sense to upgrade based on your current system, budget, and intended use, is up to each individual. I've always said that. But, when it comes down to it, the fact that the E6600 keeps pace with AMD's flagship is more than a small performance statement. It completely debunks the idea that the current AMD chips can hold a candle to what intel is offering.
So everyone can argue all they want about whether their own system is good enough for what they want out if it. But that discussion should be based on individual factors (current build, budget, usage), not a blanket comment about Conroe=AMD in gaming prowess.
I will say this as my last comment on this thread. If someone does have a high end AMD rig, I would have to agree it might not make much sense to jump to Conroe. Not unless you have money to burn and/or must have the best. Let's just remember that that mindset has been the same rule of thumb for every new cpu release.
