I'm tempted too, but I'd like to see some p5b results also. I saw this link for
the asus board in the UK, so I assume it won't be long until it shows up on shelfs in the US.

and performance wise. there isnt much of a difference from the stock to insanely high mhz.. they may clock well but performance still suffers in a horrible way becuase of how stripped the cpu is.
they are good for a toy to pressure a fsb with but also remember they are 533mhz fsb and the baords may not react well to that compared to a 1066fsb cpu...
my 2.16ghz celeron D cranks up to 4.2ghz .. does it make a difference ? not really.
vdroop ... i have this board. does thius consider vdroop??

btw i set to 1.5v in bios
Very interesting. I'm about to overnight one of these things from NewEgg - too bad my E6600 isn't here. I was going to get the P5B vanillar.
A couple questions:
1. First of all, All I'm hoping for is 3.6Ghz (400x9) out of my E6600 with an Ultra-120 and OCZ Plat EL PC6400 4.5.4.15. It seems if this board reached 485, it should do 400 very stable, right?
2. One reason, I like the P5B is it's got all that niftyBIOS flash/recovery crap. I mean saving/flashing your BIOS onto/from a thumbdrive? That's pretty friggin' cool. Does this board have those capabilities?
Am I gonna regret gettin' this board tonight-especially if the P5B magically appears on NewEgg tomorrow morning. Ugh, I'm just sick of waiting for all of this crap. The mobo and my pre-ordered E6600 are my last 2 components I need for this new box I've been piecing together the last 2 1/2 months.
I don't think you'll regret this board, not by the results people have been posting.... It should definitely do 400 stable, especially if u have good airflow. and i'm not sure about #2, sorry
I'm still a little confused. To get this 486 FSB rather than 360 FSB do I have to have the C2 step version of the board or does the F2 bios by itself do the trick?
looks like its the F2 BiosQuote:

Yes i was in aircooling.
somebody ask me a cpu-z validation ? ok there it is :

holy CRAP, 487 on air?!?!?!?!??! MY DREAMS HAVE COME TRUE!!!!
Northbridgre was passive cooled , no gain with a fan on it :D
Slightly improved Spi 1M time with better timings :) :
Ram was 2X512 Corsair 5400 UL rev 1.2.
http://pageperso.aol.fr/misteroadster/16s6300.JPG
yeah holy crap lol, main i bought a good board
u have C1 revision and BIOS F2 right??
like this board:
http://valid.x86-secret.com/show_oc?id=105349
haha dnag i was gonna spend 30 bux on a fan. it is pretty hot when i touch it though
Yes. just look at my cpu-z link.Quote:

I'm gonna buy this board right now if i know the one on newegg can hit 485
theteamaqua, where did you buy your mobo from?
did it come with f2 already on there?
thanks for sharing misteroadster
If they could guarantee 485 I'm sure they couldn't keep them in stock.;)Quote:

How much is the Gigabyte DQ6 going to cost? I just want a P965 board that will be good, is DS3 the one to buy or should I wait for the DQ6 release (and will it be alot more expensive, and will it be able to go higher than 485?)
In theory the DQ6 should be able of doing the same good 450+ fsb then......
What do you think?
Tempting...tempting....
Ahhhh nice, now how well will the E6600 perform on these motherboards? Will it have higher FSB? Also, i'm pretty new to the whole FSB thing...can any of you explain it to me (and how the processors/motherboards differ?)
Sorry, just a first-time system builder here just trying to get the best bang for his buck :)
From what I have seen so far DQ6 doesn't high such high fsb, maybe waiting for right bios revision or not.Quote:

I've got it sittin' in the shopping cart @ New Egg right now ready to click "Submit"
when will gigabyte have a sli version?
Umm for my case it's the DQ6 @ NCIX that is standby on the cart.....
yea same!!! its in the cart ready to buy....Quote:

I'm gonna buy it. I can't take it anymore :)
If it turns out to be ass, I'm only out $150, right? Ugh.
when will this dq6 release on the egg?
yeah this is cheap. i bought it with 1 day shipping + rushing + california tax for like $178.00 i think. P5W DH was like $310 if u want all that 1 day + rush
damn i hate cali tax :X
theteamaqua.. can you post any ss of your board at 450fsb +?
So just to make sure - i would like to see someone with the old bios (f1) show there max fsb and then update there bios to f2 and show the new max fsb.
i dont have conroe ..... dang
but the highest i have reached with pentium d 920 is 4.1GHz for pi 1m. 293 fsb i think... wiht bigtyphoon though , and open case
Ugh...the suspense.
Has anyone tried OCZ pc2 6400 platinum with this mobo?
only 1 person has it right now, so i doubt it......Quote:

Can someone else with a Conroe PLEASE pick this board up and post some 400FSB+ screenshots!?!? :)
I'm dyin' wondering if this one guy's got a fluke.
Anybody else notice the picture on newegg has a blue PCI-E slot as well as a south bridge heatsink and the one on ewiz has a black pci-e and no heatsink? Does this note different board revisions, you can clearly see DS3 on the board in both pics? Where did this 485fsb come from and does it have a black or blue slot, with or without heatsink? I was about to order from ewiz since it was a few dollars cheaper, till I saw that........ Where was this board bought from?
Thanks
I've just downloaded the F2 bios just incase Gigabyte remove it!!!
Wow after further inspection I am seeing even more difference between the two pictures of the boards.. The chip to the right of the green IDE slot, is tiny on the one from ewiz, and much larger on the one from newegg, and a few other differences here and there on the pcb including additional caps around the DDR2 slots, but they are both clearly marked DS3, possibly one of them is using a picture of an early reference design or something, im pretty sure that one at newegg is pic of the actual board they have on hand? Now im really confused on where I should purchase from?
Don't know about when need will have it, but ewiz already has it. Also board is cheaper than asus p5wQuote:

You are stressing too much. Newegg gets picture of actual item while many other suppliers copy their, lets say from giga-byte website.Quote:

screwwww it, just ordered the DS3. wont get the chip for a while, but it gives me time to tweak the case layout before the e6600 comes. I also dont risk them running out...
I think it will work fine, but you wont be getting the best out of your OCZ's with this processor though. But who cares, it's about the cheapest processor you can get, and you can have some fun with it till your conroe arrives :DQuote:

I just checked the Gigabyte site and yes the ds3 (p965) does support this celeron. As I remember a bunch of other pentiums 5xx and 6xx were also supported but you may want to double check.Quote:

if these crazy clocks are a result of the solid capacitors, gigabyte is genius. It obivously didn't increase board cost significantly, but made great OCing.
There's almost no difference between the boards so all boards should be able to do 485 FSB with the right cooling and BIOS I think.Quote:

dont get patriot PC7200 2 x 1GB, i tried it it wont boot
also 2 x 1GB OCZ 6400 works i think , but i returned it for less capacity but better RAM 2 x 512MB corsair 8000 UL
heres a screen of it runniin pentium d 920 3.8GHz 24/7 stable (yes i know its low cuz i have bigtyphoon not tower 120)

Should be fine. Only problem I see is you might need extra space between the board and the Power supply to fit your big cooler.Quote:

I just bought some Corsair DDR2 800 C4, so i hope that works with the DS3 or P5B
On newegg its a $20 instant discount.
newegg is nuts.... my ds3 shipped already
i just refuse to spend any more money on this whole conroe thing until some decent boards come out.
all these companies making absolute crap boards.
jesus makes me wish i had stuck with DFI and AMD ggrrrr
keep chiming in guys on this board cuz ill nab one of more people get the same results.. even if it is a little slower then the asus or intel or whatever other pile is out there
we love newegg for their craziness :woot:Quote:

a little better timing, ill see how low i can go with corsair 8000UL
oh and yes OCZ 6400 2 x 1GB will work. However im not sure which timing .. 5-5-5-15 i think thats the one i had
Looking forward to your results. Do you have a CPU to test it with? Please keep us updated. :toast:Quote:

Anyone here has the DS4?
I'm asking because it's only 25€ more and it has 2 PCI-E x16
//EDIT: After checking Gigabyte's site, they're not x16, only x16+x4 so no CF here. I guess I'll buy the DS3, 144€ is 100€ less than my other option, the P5W-DH Dx. I'll get better RAM instead.
Man, Conroe hardware is going to appear 2 weeks later in Spain. Heck, I've asked in street shops and they doesn't even know what's this Conroe or Core 2 Duo :D
In one shop they even tried to "teach" me the only dual cores are the Pentium Ds :ROTF:
Kind of waste since it doesnt support Xfire.Quote:

E6300 review at XBit:
http://www.xbitlabs.com/articles/cpu...-e6300_15.html
As we have already said, Core 2 Duo processors have their clock frequency multiplier locked at a relatively low value. As a result, the mainboards used for overclocking experiments like that should allow increasing the FSB frequency quite significantly. Unfortunately, the ASUS P5W DH Deluxe mainboard we used could only support 420MHz FSB frequency. That is why we didn’t manage to get more impressive results. Although, what we achieved was quite remarkable already, I should say.
misteroadster is right. This board is a perfect match for an E6300! Screw the E6600 for now.
480 FSB is amazing. Anyone else got these results yet? I'm waiting for atleast one more person to confirm that result before I buy one.
Once 480+ is confirmed, it will be OOS. I say get in line now :) :DQuote:

GA-P965-DS3 ~= 150
2x1GB DDR2-800 Geil Value (5-5-5-15) ~= 200
And look at the power consumption:
http://www.doompc.com/temp/conroe-power-load.gif
X6800 draws the same power as the X2 4600+ (2.2GHz 2x512KB) "Energy Efficient"

so no one else has gotten their yet huh ? well lets hope for some weekend presonnal reviews to show up here
Now I have to find a cheap 2GB set of DDR2 that would be a good match for this FSB.:cool:Quote:

That could explain why.
Weird stuff, so the E6600 might be at it's limit? Is that what it looks like? I wonder what an E6400 would do...
