What's the stepping mate? Is it B-2 like we thought it would be? :D
Why couldn't the E6600 be the first to ship :(
Mad I havn't seen so much WOOD in one place since my last trip to a lumberyard!:D
Congrats to all you guys that got yours..Best of luck with them!:toast:
CPU-z ....let's do this!
Since no one has asked the million dollar question yet, I'll do so. Do you know exactly when these stores will really be cleared for sales? Does that July 13/14 rumor hold any water? Or are you not at libety to say? :p:Quote:

Here you go....Quote:

For those asking for a screen shot of cpu-z, I would love to be able to comply, but I don't have all the components I need to do this yet, as my conroe computer is still unassembled. I may be able to rig something up later this evening in order to find out if this is indeed a b-2 stepping.
That just destroy the rumor of C2D being delayed because of late change to B-2 Stepping..
Gotta love those web site..
please do..
Hope my e6600 comes soon but something tells me ocuk won't be so kind as to do that =/
Cpuid Image!!!
Thanks FLG_Poncho and redpreist for the information. Saves me alot of work later;)Quote:

Its a B-2 but stepping 6 :D
It was running 61C-67C under load - what you're seeing there is just the beginning part of my Prime95 warm up - it was running 44C idle. BTW, I'm using the Intel stock HSF that comes with the 2.93 Ghz conroe. I double checked to ensure I was getting good contact - I haven't lapped the HS or anything. I'm using Arctic Alumina ceramic for heat sink paste.
The HSF is pretty small compared to what I was using with the Presler (I didn't bother trying to OC the 3.0 ghz presler though).
I have a Prometia Mach 2 GT that I am going to be using in the near future to put this thing under -60C.
Now let's see if I can OC this bad boy!
I ordered my x6800 from Monstronix on sunday night. They were very helpful. The price wasnt terrible, plus no tax. I got the tracking number a few hrs ago and it looks like its on the way! This time tommorow I will be popping this baby into my p5wdh! Cant Wait!

Here is 3200 mhz stable on default voltage:

CostCentral claims to have E6600, so I did what I will probably end up regretting and cancelled my order at BLT to order there.
While Poncho might correct me if I bungle this, but pretty sure those are the same thing.Quote:

I know we've seen B-0, B-1, and now B-2. Not sure about how many there were in the A series though.

That suck. It's about what a e6600 ES can do.Quote:

Gotta make sure they're in stock, before you order. =)
Believe me, I was paranoid as hell when I ordered it. Spent a night soul searching to figure out whether or not I had done the right thing with $1200 of my money.
Payoff: at delivery.
Progress: 1.4 volts, Prime95 failed at 3.46 ghz. Upped voltage to 1.45 volts, retesting.
Not really, most if not all 6600 ES'es we've seen were not on stock Intel cooling.Quote:

I am stalled at 3.46 ghz using Intel stock HSF; tried voltage up to 1.5 and she won't do it; opinions on higher voltages?
I am trying 1333 mhz bus now with 10x multiplier...
BTW, she did post at 3.733 ghz
What's the temp?Quote:

How do I get the FSB to stick at 1333mhz? BadAxe claims it is, but cpuid and real clock speed do not under windows. This is an unmodded board and cpu.
ok i just got off the phone with these guys. they are not physically in their warehouse, they ship directly from intel. thats why it says 2-3 weeks shipping. but as long as its says that they are "in stock", that means that intel WILL have a cpu for you. i think he said that they have 105 left. i ordered mine.
very truly yours,
politenessman

I ordered mine on Sunday - they had 10 in stock then. I called FIRST THING on Monday morning to ensure that they had it and there were no problems with my order. It was painless.
Got the tracking number at 9 pm yesterday and received it this morning.

You are now speaking with Jesse Coddington of Sales.
Jesse Coddington: Hello . How can I help you today?
: i have a few question about intel core 2 duo
Jesse Coddington: the item is currently out of stock
: how long is the wait time?
Jesse Coddington: it looks like we have one eta of today and the rest are for the beginning of august
Jesse Coddington: 8/4 - 8/11
: hm so will i get one if i order today?
: for the WTA of today?
Jesse Coddington: its an eta
Jesse Coddington: the warehouse is showing they are supposed to get some in.
--------------------------------------------------------------------------
Haha this place seems like they are making stuff up.
One person said they to not stock them but item ships direct from intel.
Another person said the warehouse is supposed to get some in.
Redpriest where did your cpu ship from?
Can you run some benchmarks, too? 90% of the people at the AMD forums think that Conroe is a scam and/or conspiracy, and that all the engineering samples were somehow boosted in performance. They want to see "REAL" results.
Thinking the same thing... why do we always have to wait ffs...Quote:

Though it would be a crime not to show the results........ the AMD kids you speak of, well, they have made up their mind a long time ago. There's no coming back once you're inside that type of bubble. :)Quote:

what is the actual temp for idle and load? 44c idle seems really high for idle. I thought conroe's 65mm core and low voltage reqs would produce lower temps.
Thanks for sharing the pics and the screenshots. :)
I am [not proudly] one of the top posters there, and have been visiting for years... but only because AMD has been on top for that long. I don't understand the brand loyalty crap. Not like AMD is handing out free CPUs and driving you to work.Quote:

Oh well. I'm coming to XS for all my questions/comments now...
EDIT not to say I wasn't skeptical of Conroe myself, but after I started seeing benchmarks, there's nothing left to question. Now everyone is saying that K8L will beat Conroe, and even though it probably won't (just a quad core K8), Kentsfield will probably be out first...
I got the other one of three 6800's from east luna but won't have it till thursday. It also shipped from Florida. Nice to see the new stepping though.Quote:

first of all trying to do anything with the retail heatsink is just silly.
use your noodle use a proper hsf
and intel needs to be shot right in their a-hole for STILL using that worthless stupid hsf.
its bullcrap that we dont have all coper heatpipe heatsinks from intel.
you wanna sit there and run 60c on that thing right now your never going to achieve high clocks.. its all about keeping it cool.
bandwidth exceeded on a couple of those pics.. LOL

Can't wait to hear how e6600 turn out... :)
Congrats on your chips and keep the updates coming.
I almost did the same but noticed the up to 2 to 3 week ship time. Which would put it pretty close to when BLT estimates they will get them in.Quote:

well i hope newegg ships conroe soon ...
I'm actually not so worried about Conroe shipping since it appears to be available at many places now (just not ready for shipping yet)
What worries me, is Motherboard availability, which really sucks at the moment and I hope it gets better already
The way I see it, I'll have my E6700 before I buy a good motherboard. I guess I'll have to "rent" one for a few weeks!
Whoa, thats hot! Are you sure the heatsink is making proper contact?Quote:

I want an apology from this guy. I almost bought this weekend, right after the first one at East Luna disappeared but he convinced me otherwise...
Seriously though, I gots lots o respect for FCG, he was off on this one though. Not his fault really, most likely these places will get teh spank for doing this (I'd still have mine tho!).

you would have most certainly paid more than retail. a few retailers sold, what, 5 of these for a nice 20% mark up? while a few lucky people may have been the exception there are 10,000 others that my statement still holds true for. no apology offered. ;)Quote:

Yeah, I'm positive it was making good solid contact. I just found the HSF to be rather...small. It doesn't appear to have a lot of surface area and it looks a lot smaller than photos of HSF that come with the P4 EE.Quote:

My question would be if this company broke NDA does anybody think that Intel will allow others to release since it creates some sort of unfair advantage?
I doubt they ever signed an NDA. Intel can't control the 1000's of resellers out there.Quote:

I'd be curious which distributer sold to the OP's reseller and find out who else buys product from them.
Who knows, maybe Intel is even allowing the distributers to ship early so the channle can start getting stocked in preperation for ther launch.
Intel's main concern is what the PC OEM's do vs. what the boxed processor reseller's do.
It must have been an error when they recieved stock.
One thing is obvious, processors are being sent to the distributors now. Big chips in stock at launch too.
i was thinking the exact same thing.Quote:

I have some weird stability issues I'm going to have to resolve - random reboots occuring at odd times (!), etc.
I'm running on barebones config until I can isolate what the problem is, so no benchmarks forthcoming (as it is, the system won't complete 3dmark06 - it will lock somewhere during 3dmark06's cpu1 test).
* Did memtest86 - it rebooted in the middle of the test, but there were no errors during the testing that it found (unusual).
- tomorrow I will swap out ddr2 memory to see if this is the source of the problem. Ugh.
* I've swapped out power supplies. I had a 500W at first, swapped in a 600W - problems still occur. The 500W supply has the 8 pin connector, where the 600W supply has a 4pin connector that I had to use the 4 -> 8 pin adapter. The 975X manual says this is a bad idea for "Extreme Editions" but okay for regular processors. Considering the Conroe will consume less power, I'm assuming this is a non issue.
Any fancy a hold up of one of these Intel deliveries?
well, I managed to complete a run of 3dmark06. I had to clock my memory down to 533 from 800 to do it - so I'm suspicious of my memory - OCZ platinum DDR2-800 with SPD of 5-4-4-15. I'll see if some other generic ddr2 has the problem.
I am running 65C temps with the gigantic copper tower and jet engine fan under *full* load. The thing is mounted correctly (I swear), but I'll doublecheck it tomorrow and see what the deal is.
incrediable, it's real a Retail box, Step shows the same with rumor, woo!
Maybe try reading temps with a thermocouple? or some other software (the one that really claims to read CPU temp, it was posted here some time ago)
Upping memory voltage to 2.2 from 2.0 appears to have made things stable. Stock voltage doesn't cooperate nicely with my system. Blast.
A couple of photos since I did promise I would upload when I got home:
The incredible thing about the box, which I will capture tomorrow when my camera battery is recharged, is that the packing date says: JULY 5, 2006. My CPU is literally fresh off the lot.
did i miss some informations?Quote:
