It may not be the board that's limiting his FSB, but rather the CPU or his cooling. As we all know, better chips will overclock higher. I think that's why he mentioned wanting a Stepping 5 Conroe.
hmm.... well id be happy with that overclock. 3 would be my goal. any thing extra would be a nice bonus.
my last opteron 165 was at 2.9 so 2.9 on that would be cool :)
hey ! good to hear that Webwilli and thx to share this info :clap:Quote:

I can't wait to see this board with a great OCing chip! I have high hopes for this board because I definitely have my eye on it! I guess I can wait for Sierra to review his. :p

I want to but a E6300, how much will it cost?
nice chip
Sierra... not sure if you have mach or vapochill... I think mach II GT's 937 firmware fixes that issue not 100% sure... if vapochill, I don't know if there is solution... for froster, I know Golden Eagle is working on to add bit of delay before shutdown is triggered... (I asked him for 15 seconds to be on safe side) as well as few convenineces :)
My Vapochill is two years old. It uses the old Chill Control. Haven't really checked for firmware updates. Even a ten second delay would be helpful. The PSU usually will shut off for about three seconds before restarting after BIOS change.
I'm testing outside a case, so adding a second PSU for the SS controller is not a major headache.

it's just insane to o/c such a chip , Intel performed very well its power/watts lol
Yep, E6300 is my way to go before Kentsfield :)

Someone in another thread had asked whether the Vapochill clamshell will fit on the P5W DH Deluxe. The answer is yes, quite easily. I tried doing some testing. But it's so hot and humid today that I stopped after pushing my CPU up to 4100MHz. Was getting ice build-up around the socket, even with extra fans blowing on the board. Not what you want to see. Will try again later.

Would 450fsb be possible with E6300 and P5W DH dlx or 975X Bad Axe without any mods?
MCH vmod might be needed to get that high. If you can afford it I would recommend getting a Conroe with a higher multiplier. Would save you from having to reach high FSB.
are the temp monitors accurate on this mobo?
I believe AiBooster is fairly accurate with air-cooling. It doesn't seem to read sub-zero temperatures very well. I hope I wasn't running at 242C. :D
sierra_bound i have seen you @ abxzone right ? anywayz my question was i have also order a p5w dh... i wanted to know was, will it be possible to have 400fsb to do 1:1 with my 800mhz ram with E6600 processor... ?
i||uSi0n^
Yes, I am that person though I don't post there anymore. :) 400FSB should be doable without board mods.
yeah i seen that..tho donno if u remember me ? :)
anyhow must i mod. to be able to get that much of fsb? cause i dnt really want to do it...
i||uSi0n^
Vmch mod it and give us some "real" results ;)
Ive recieved my asus today, put it all together but its not posting. It powers up, fans spin etc but no picture and no beeps except for one occasion which was one long continuous beep non stop. The power light is red too instead of its normal green.
This is with an E6600 ES step 5, could this be a bios version problem ?
Any ideas ?
reset the cmosQuote:

Did you ever get your board to boot? If all else fails, you may have to go to your local computer store and buy a cheap LGA775 processor which you can use to boot up and update the BIOS.Quote:

It depends on which BIOS came with the board. My board had 401 which is not even listed on the Asus site. I had to use my Cedar Mill CPU to boot up. I then flashed to 065 and later to 504. If the board has 502, then you should be okay.
thanks Sierra for advice
Let's hope mine won't need to buy another 775 chip to boot ....
Yes, good luck. Fortunately I had Cedar Mill before Conroe. The Cedar Mill 631 is a very good overclocking chip, though it's obviously not as good as Conroe.
So if that clamshell fits I bet that Scythe ninja fits also, but I´d like to see that someone confirms it.
Just talked to my usual resseller and told me update bios seems necessary for owners of stepping 5Quote:

This is a problem for people who do not have a spare s775 lying around.
Slightly off putting if the thing will not boot out of the box.
The hassle of it.lol
Not many people have this board, so chances of getting someone now to confirm whether your HSF will fit are slim. If you really want the board, buy it. And if your HSF doesn't fit, just get another HSF. The board is more important than the HSF. I wouldn't buy a board based on whether a particular HSF will fit or not.Quote:

can someone lend me a spare s775 chip if i run into a blank screen in order to flash my bios?
I'm in UK lol:D
Buy a cheap old socket 775 celeron to bios flash or flash bios chip in other mobo with force option.
