Oh no worries man, i came over from the Futuremark Forums, i am just some guy with some phat connections, and no, not just some newb trying to be funny, everything i say i have i do in fact have.
More of you guys seemed to know more about Conroe and what not then the guys on the FM forums did, so i thought i would come hang out and yap about hardware that hasn't been released yet hehe.

I'm just curious what bus the kentsfield is going to come on 1066 or 1333? I think inquirer said that 1333mhz may not be possible or that its the limit for 3 loads on a fsb.
I heard 1066 Mhz was the max it could run reliably. But that might change between now and next year.
Doubt it , 1333 is hard , probably not worth the effort on a 3 load bus.OTOH , if they use a buffer like on Paxville it might to the trick.Quote:

yes, but Kentsfield has a 3 load bus, which means that it will not be able to run as fast (just physics saying that, not me). Now maybe there is some more headroom in the current design to let them go to 1333, but it not bvery likely.
Can anyone confirm that the badaxe can run kentsfield?
maybe ... badaxe v304 do not support , but v306 do support
i thought FCG said it will run on bad axe
well as for kentsfield, i might just go with a high clock core XE , i really dont think quad core can perform faster than dual core in many apps (games, thats the only thing i care)

While it looks like a regular PC, the Thermaltake cooler hides a Kentsfield CPU - a dual-die Conroe with nice four cores, eight Megs of L2 cache in total. The process is of course, 65 nanometres – and you can pretty much expect that this baby isn't much more than a Clovertown (dual-die WoodCrest) on Socket 775. The clock speed was unavailable, and we couldn't take a picture of the Task Manager or something similar. CPU-Z was not installed, sigh.
The pictures were taken after the Kentsfield-powered machine worked under load for several hours, and the cooler was warm on touch. In fact, it was only slightly warmer than the cooler on a 2.66GHz Conroe, but we cannot really compare that, since this copper-aluminium baby was far more powerful than Intel's own reference cooler. ยต

KENTSFIELD, THE NEXT GEN Intel EE chip to be launched in mid-07 has been moved up to early 07. On the down side, it is no longer a 45nm part, it is 65nm.
On the up side, it is going to be quad-core. Yeah, you read that right, Intel is going to jump to 4 cores for EE/XE class parts sooner rather than later.
This part is going to be more or less a dual die part very similar to Clovertown, and it will most likely share all of that chip's attributes, FSB, TDP and cache. If it carries the same performance as Clovertown, AMD is going to have to scramble to keep the gaming crown.

So kentsfield is the successor to conroe, and will it work on lga755 and use ddr2?
ddr3 probably later when intel releases new chipset for ddr3

What I am most interested is Bloomfield which is probably going to be the most "advanced" core based on Core Architecture after that we should be looking Nehalem derived products. Apparently is a monolithic core with an unkown amount of shared cache :slobber:, I am hoping for 8-12MB or it can you imagine all that cache dedicated to a Single Threaded program. ;)
Though Allendale and Conroe optical shrinks Wolfdale and Ridgefield are of some interests, as is Penryn which is the optical shrink of Merom, all these cores will be basically be like their older versions on 65nm with some minor tweaks and more cache basically and on the newer 45nm node with perhaps some higher FSB speed.
That extra 2% of SW might account for 75% of the SW revenue in the server world in rest assured that SMT is used there ( From Xeon MP to Power 5 ).Quote:

The bad thing about SMT is that it is truly difficult to do ( why do you think AMD didn't bother ? ) .For the P4 for example it used an extra 5% die space but accounted for 90% of the problems at debuging.. It was dropped from Core familly because of time to market and thermal issues.
