Nah, OCCT should be as good. It's just that bootable memtest doesn't use all o f the memory AFAIK.......but OCCT is just as good. I like to run OCCT and memtest as well. I run Memtest for 6 hours or so while I'm asleep.
As for the amount, I would take what they tell you and subtract 5-10 Mb, this way you can still perform some tasks/browse the internet while it runs. I normally set around 1250 or so AFAIK...

Regarding the NB temps:
I don't have any proof, as my temps never get higher than 50C on load, but I've just read this around the internet......that higher NB temps can cause the MCH to become unstable on our boards......but hey more power to ya :up:

safan80 that is a helluva lot of HDD bandwidth....I have two of those WD drives (caviar?) so maybe I should run RAID when I reinstall VIsta next week.....hhmm.....
In all honesty I think that's the highest bandwidth of any HD tach I've ever seen.....

Oh striped AND mirrored. Nice. That's a smart setup. TBH that's probably the only way I'd run RAID, as I use one of my 500 Gbs for storing HD movies and such.

A Corrupted flash is most likely to happen when your using asus update since its windows based.

Its very rare to a DOS based flash update fail.

and updating the bios via EZ Flash has not made any anomalies for me.
Plus I've never heard of flashing via DOS Flashing making any Windows anomalies.

Well when I get back to my condo I'll start tweaking my memory and going for either higher frequency or tighter timings.....I don't know if I can find a stable divider other than DDR2-1015 strap 333..........but we'll see. Updates coming tomorrow.....

Definitely...I've usually found that tighter timings does next to nothing for Intel chipsets, but higher frequencies and FSB frequencies makes a HUGE difference......especially FSB. I guess it's due to the location of the MCH.....in the NB rather than on the CPU die, like AMDs. AMDs like tighter timings normally....

Because the 200/266/400 memory strap doesn't give as good as bandwidth as the 333mhz strap does.

and if we can get the 1300 working, it would have OMG huge bandwidth :yepp:

flashing in dos or windows doesn't change much afaik, what i was saying is that i HAD to reinstall winxp when i upgraded by bios. Apps were crashing/rebooting/bsod. why? not sure. must be ACPI-related or some :banana::banana::banana::banana::banana:... :shrug:

Just to let you know that i have succesfully booted with 2.0v of FSB Termination.

all temps were normal (for my setup)

did not stress the system though. in fact, the bios setting changed itself to 2v, i did not do that on purpose. Good thing i noticed it early... :clap:

First, then you are one lucky guy, as many users have experienced more bad flashesw in windows via Asusupdate then with EZ flash from the bios... it's advisable for best succes to flash via dos or the bios ! there's no but there...:shakes:

And your issue is prolly due to user settings then to a bad flash or bios :shrug:

Also, ReZ_, If you flash a Bios to a higher grade and your using AHCI sata setup, then yes of course you'll have to reinstall windows sometimes. I think its been talked about before in here.

ahci sata? i just use the intel drivers... in RAID 0

still had to reinstall winxp... was not a big deal... and it's understandable to reinstall OS when modifying basic input output systems....

how did you manage to get SuperPI 1m - 12.109s ?? we seem to have similar setups, but i'm a full second slower than you...

Well, if Asus did something to allow using a higher enabled transaction booster level it would also improve memory performance a lot. Right now the best I could do at any strap is with it enabled = 0. Increasing the NB voltage doesn't help, 1, 2, 3 or higher is just not usable.

With this latency could go down well below 50ns to about 45ns at PL = 2 or 3.

Sadly transaction booster hardly works at any strap....at least from the BIOS, haven't tried with memset.

Yeah i know i have better bandwidth with older Bios like 0505. Is it possible to downgrade to 0505 from 0907??

I've heard about this prob also in the thread and was very anxious to see if it will occur to me also.

However that's not the case for me. I run @ 3.72ghz with 1.52v and Prime Small FFTs has a load of 99% at all times.

I repeat i DON'T have this problem.

So it isn't Primes or mb's fault (or at least not to all mb's). Something with your settings maybe?

I have run as high as 1.55volts and NO problems

Yeah I was hoping that was fixed with this bios so we can update the bios with an older one using EZ Flash instead of Asus update- I dont want to brick my Mobo. as ive done it before with asus update. That utility. SUCKS. But all i want is to enable trans booster with 1.

Weird prob here is that OCCT CPU test would always use cpu 99% @ taskmanager.....:shrug:

Oke I tried 8x multiplier and ques what, Prime would load now 99% Above 1.400vcore set bios...... as soon I put 9x mulitplier.. it wont

Now this brings in an interesting topic thanks to ReZ. One I am having problems with (I've made alot of DVD coasters recently on OC settings AND set back to auto everything) DVD burning. When I load the l8est MSM drivers from the ASUS site, it's version8.x.x.x and when I go to Intel's site they still have their version 7.x.x.x from 11/2007. There's some kind of conflict there. Anandtech did a recent report on the speed of the new SSD drives and reported that they did a fresh install of windows for the new (Intel drivers) install with no mention of the ASUS drivers, no mention of the "newer ASUS" drivers afore mentioned.

I am starting to think I have a bad 100pack of Memorex DVD-R's. 1 out of 10 seem to burn correctly. Thought it might be my SB as I had it volted to 1.1V. But after setting everything to auto still F'in up after 10/30/80% done burning. This BS is happening on both of my LiteOn DVD burners. Ain't the drivers, DVD's, OC'ing, gotta be the batch... Keep your receipts!
