Just got this one..
ram timings?
Guys,
I've gotten my system stable with:
446 x 9 = 4015 Mhhz
Vcore = 1.2875
Vnb = 1.30
System is very cool and stable. I tried going to 466 fsb (~ 4.1ghz), and did not run stable, so I assume I need more Vnb and Vcore. I dont think the extra speed is worth the power/temp increase, so now I want to reign the cores and temps down as low as possible.
I noticed several E0's running 1.1-1.2 Vcore...I'm gonna see how mine does there. My question is, how low can I safely go with the Vnb? can I get away with 1.2v?
Umm there is no danger using low volts... :eek:
1.3 Is pretty high (lol, high and high :p:), depends how many stick of ram you got there
I belive that you will find nice spot in 1.16-1.26 area :D
Just looked on you sig and noticed 4x1GB, it may need higher nb on some situations

OK so I ordered E8500 from newegg, and got the cpu from new jersey warehouse where everyone got E0s..

I am SAD... and I have been waiting to get this CPU over a month and now get this sh.ittty thing.. So do you think this batch will overclock good guys?? or is it total bulls**t?

E8500 Q822A537 Pack Date 8/7/07 to play with friday
K guys question:: SHOULD I get 2 x Scythe ULTRA KAZE 2000RPM fans or
2 x Scythe ULTRA KAZE 3000RPM fans for my thermalright ultra 120 extreme? Are 3000RPM too loud?
3000rpm
the 3000's push 50dba at full blast I have them they weigh a ton because they are 120 120 36 not 120 120 25 I wouldnt reccomend them they are sweet fans but for the airflow noise ratio not so good my tower nearly left the ground however my ears bled slightly.
KK Im going to buy 2 x 2000rpms for now, if anything I will return/exchange.
Thanks
I have 3x Scythe S-FLEX SFF21E 120mm Case Fan - Retail on my Swifttech rad and it's a bit loud outside of the computer, it's not as loud as my hard drive, but it's not silent. you can hear the air moving that's about it.
Not bad for a Maximus Formula and a Cheap E8400. Air Cooled By TRUE

Very nice - that's like one of my e8500's - a keeper!
@JCGhz
Great:yepp: holding it stable Very close to that 1.3625V what your temps at idle?
its was 3d stable at lower vcore... but i wanted it prime stable so staying under that 1.3625 very nice.My Idle temps are below 36c but im not quite sure since the sensors are stuck there:)
This is one sweet little 8400 it suprised the heck outta me.
My E8600 took almost 1.5vcore to hit 4.5 which i wasnt happy with.
