wife brought this in when she was weeding her flowers.
cropped and then 50% size reduction
given that it was shot @ F11 i really figured more would be in focus, but i guess that is a drawback of being zoomed in to 70mm ???

no sharpening, period, only auto contrast and tone and clicked his head for black level since his head is a super heavy black color. only changed the color curve just a micro tiny bit.

i like the 2nd one because it looks like it's from an old speciman book or something. like some out of the National Audoban Society even though this looks much older than that.

I haven't posted on XS in a long while but here is a newer one of mine. Taken with my FujiFilm FinePix S1000FD that I hate. (Working on getting a low end DSLR *Crosses Fingers*)
Some advice on why my sky is sooooooo green and how to fix it would be awesome! General CnC is always welcome.

Nice. I've been a lot of birding recently as well. I've found a few spots with pretty large concentrations of Osprey, Eagle, Cormorant, Heron and King Fishers. I'm going to need a kayak to get up close though.
Here's one of the mature eagles shortly before the adults left this area. Hopefully they will return next year :)

wow! great capture of a bald eagle!
my longest lens is a 100-400L... itching for 500L but that's way over budget...
i think that i will practice and learn with what i have for now...
them Kingfishers are tough... they are too quick!
i got a green heron this morning... but a bad shot... they are really shy.
A less expensive alternative for you would be the 300 f/4 + 2x tc or 400 f/5.6 + 1.4x tc. I've been shooting with my Nikon 300mm f/4 + 1.7x tc and getting great results. 500 - 600mm I've found to be ideal for birding. Especially with the f/4 + tc. Its a nice light weight solution to the 10 lbs super tele.
yea, i was seriously contemplating the 300 f/4L IS since i already have a 1.4 TC... i am a bit worried about the 400 f/5.6 due to lack of IS... i don't seem to have a steady hand...
when i save enough, i'll sell off my 1-4L and get some primes... i'm using my 1-4 mostly at 400mm and also, i've recently acquired the 70-200 II for the shorter shots...
wifey semi-ok'd my next lens and i showed her a 300 2.8... lol... that should give me some elbow room... hahaha
