There is a NEW, BETTER way to do the conductive writing.
Using the tape outline took forever and like 3 tries before the ink would be even remotely where/how you wanted it. It was also very hard to place the tape.
My new method takes approximately 15 seconds and is vey precise.
Get a seweing needle (or something that will work like one), dip it in the ink and draw the lines on there with it. Its very precise, very quick, and very easy.
Maybe someone has already used this method, but I've not seen it posted anywhere. It should become the new standard.
I'd rather take a toothpick, a needle might damage the PCB. ;)
yeah - I used a toothpick for my cards.. and drew the ink on tape which I put in that one spot, for quick release action. ;)

the ink dried up on me quickly, so I had to "dot" it in quite a bit.. I had to re-do my 2nd card once because it came out kind of sloppy.. now both look pretty good.. like the above pic
Im having a really annoying issue :(
My card would bench 600mhz core @ 1.2v, and when I bumped to 1.4v it only wanted to do 650, if i tried to apply over 650 everything would freeze up and the display would keep going on and off.
So I upped voltage to 1.5v, still nothing over 650
So i did the 45k ohm resistor mod to both cards.
STILL nothing
I dont know what the issue is, why cant I get over 650?

looks like they put some new parts on the cards..
EDIT: CompG - gpu cores are just like CPUs, in that some can only do so much.. they can hit an OCing wall , just like a CPU.. I would test your cards individually, which will be a PITA with watercooling, but none the less, that's where I'd start.. I am going to guess that it's only one of the cards holding your other card back, because they need to hold identical clocks in SLI.
theres nothing on the top parts that are used.

right under the area for the conductive ink mod, the .1v and .2v spots, there are two rows of new black parts soldered onto the pcb.. not sure what they are, but they are new. Look at the before and after shots. and check the meter readings.. he says that the gpu runs at 1.45v now in 3D mode, and 1.2v in 2D mode.. so they must be doing some extra voltage regulation..Quote:

wow.. that's almost too good. I would think even with good water you'd hit the low to mid 40s under load.. especially with the vmod and when the ambient is around 22c. Anyways.. does not appear to be a temp issue..
it was 43-45 the other day, but its running really cool right now.
My CPU isnt even exceeding 40 with 1.55v
No I haven`t but why do I have a memory issue even when removed the pencil mode?...I will try my card tomorrow again...and if the problem is still there I will sold it for hal of a price and get another one...this time no pencil mode any more...:slapass:Quote:

Its the memory. This really puzzles me because I never had any trouble getting the memory to 900+ (with no ramsinks or anything), now it bugs out on me @ 800?! (with ramsinks on 6/8 chips on each card, waterblock blocks others)
huh - maybe the sinks are "smothering" your memory chips? What kind of sinks are they? did you use thermal tape or real thermal compound? You still need air on those cards even tho the blocks are pulling a lot of the heat away, the cards still get hot.. it's good to have a few fans on them! Anyways.. that's great news tho! :D get some air on those cards to cool the memory - might help :)
The memory wont even do 700 without crapping out now.
I have the OCZ Copper sinks that you get from danger den. I have 2 fans blowing over my cards.
I also dedicated one ramsink to that hotspot mosfet area on each card.
My memory fails the test at only 690mhz, SOMETHING is wrong.
Core is doing fine @ 760/1.55v
wow.. what a PITA. welllll.. the physical mods eVGA is adding has to do with beefing up the voltage regulation.. so maybe when you did the mods, the extra power the core gets is drawing power away from the memory? thats a wild ass guess.. sounds like you have a good setup.. so it must be something on the card which is failing.. hrm.. if you undo the vmod(s) do they go back to normal?Quote:

well since i insulated mine for chilled water, my ram clocks :banana::banana::banana::banana:ty, but my core does 720 on 1.4v mod(yet to check) except on 03 where it maxes out at 639mhz.
i know its not heat because my load is about 10*c.
well - if the memory does not run at default speeds.. you may have an RMA candidate.. but considering all the mods.. yikes.. I personally don't think what you did killed the memory OC.. but it's hard to say for sure.. it might have been wise to test these cards for a couple of weeks before modding them, considering all the issues with them.. but that's h2o through the water block now.. (under the res?? ;)).. regardless - eVGA is cross-shipping those new modded cards, given that you haven't fussed with the memory sub-system, and RMA would not be totally out of the question.. I reckon.. anyways.. that's a tough call tho.. I reckon peeps will do what the want to there.. I hope you get this solved one way or an other.. that's damed annoying to have your new hardware piss out on you like that..Quote:

Im really reluctant to RMA, these cores do 760mhz :(
