I asked AMD for JTAG docs and accessibility to C0010042 MSR via JTAG. They answered that this data is confident.
So I think we get right way to dig in. Try to find some BSDL's for AMD dies.

How I hate that... You f* own the chip and you have the right to know how to handle and play with what you own. Sh*t, it makes me so mad :upset:Quote:

logicaly most people wouldn't pay the extra money for the FX chip; would you?
But it discourages people to try but let's not stop trying!
In the end its all about the money!

If they made a 4800+FX x2 chips, maybe it would be worth over $500, but as of now the P4D's are priced way below the A64 dual cores and all the non xtreme types flock to them..... bad for AMD's bottom line longterm. OEM design wins going to $400 less$ P4D's instead of A64 x2's.
Hint to AMD.... I'd pay $500 for a 4800+ FX(unlocked).... not $501.
i think we should have fugger ask AMD but that is just me since he is a ledgend for ocing and is the owner of XS.

You can try. :) But I don't think that AMD will tell that info even to Fugger :)
This is info how to earn $$$$. Bad people can reprogramm 3000+ chips to FX and get 9 times more money (bought 10 3000+ (1500), programm them = sell as FX (10000))
It is easy :)
Isn't that what AMD does? hehehe :stick:Quote:

Well the chips used to come unlocked back when.. It was what made AMD special!
How do you know that? :confused:Quote:

But. I think that there was some ESD influence to CPU when it lies on table, and a few registers are wrong, and it is a bit luck that multi unlocked with this.
So, I'm just waiting for hardware to try JTAG-programming CPU's.

AMD uses microcode which is permanent (Intel's CPU can have microcode updates) so I doubt it was "updated" by static electricity.
Pirs told me that the CPU was not freely on the table, but in a plastic box that came with the CPU.Quote:
