from memory the difference is minimal. but if your already heavily invested in graphics then you might as well get a board supporting 2x16

This is going to be a first for me. Actually using the CD that came with a motherboard. I sort of feel weird connecting a DVD/CD reader to my benching set up. But it that is what I have to do then so be it.
I've tried 1.5V with LLC2 enabled @ 5.0Ghz, but crashed with BSOD 124 on startup and ram @ 1066mhz.
What's the diagnosis doctor?
I'm leaning towards the board.
dont use the CD, just download it from the website, it is listed there too of course
guys basically with retail steppings testing a LOT of them will only work at 45x or 46x multi without needing to use PLL overvoltage inbios which will then boost it to 50x, chips become a lot more scarce that can actually boot at say 49 or 50 without it and if they do, these chips will be able to probably bench at 5.4 or more with the right cooling
also with SB from what is being done so far basically seems a familiar pattern > MHz wall, and a lot of guys will drive themselves crazy thinking they can go past it, i am yet to see people really have any real impact on the MHz wall once they figure it out properly
Understood Dino, but I don't know how there can possibly be that much difference between my chip and another chip on the same batch.
The only differentiating factor is the board and the ram, yet there is possibly over 0.2V difference and mine isn't even stable where as theirs are.
Just trying to determine if it's a user error or if it's a clear cpu/motherboard/ram limitation.
I put the second 460 in to try some 3D. Im pretty happy being able to bench over 5ghz. First test was with a single card, had to lower mem to 1866 to complete the tests at 5.1ghz
Nice board ! have had no problem with 1:8 divider on both pairs of ram slot
Hyper V & PSC both work just fine on my crappy ES
F7d/F7e, x53 mutli is fine only with BCLK 1001 set in bios

What is hypers voltage?
1.78v for Hyper
1.64v for PSC
What are your exact settings? like all of them?
What BIOS are you using?
My 3dmark11!

Ok 5.0Ghz settings Using F6X
Voltages
CPU Vcore: 1.4
LLC : Level 1
VTT: 1.1V
IMC: 1.005V
PCH: Auto
PLL: Auto
DRAM: 1.66V
Everything else auto.
Frequency settings
50x Multi
BCLK disabled.
RAM - 1866Mhz
Advanced Features
Hyperthreading - ON
PLL OverVoltage - ON
Turbo - Disabled
All power saving features - OFF
Memory
All timings set - Auto
XMP Profile - Disabled
They are all my overclock settings.
It gets to Windows boot screen and locks up. No BSOD, just hard lock.
I have so far tried the following bioses: F3, F6x, F6e, F7a, F7d, F7e.
enable turbo, set TDP to 300 and TDC to 300, increase vcore see if that helps. When enabling turbo make sure to set each turbo multi to what you want. try increasing qpi/vtt to 1.1
You're using LLC level 1, right?
If that's on the UD7, then that undervolts under load. I can't get into the desktop at 5 ghz if i use 1.35v with LLC1 (which is the same as your LLC2), or at 1.39v with LLC disabled. But I can with 1.39v with LLC1 (overvolts to 1.45 under load and am game stable).
Try the following:
1.4v LLC2
or 1.45v LLC1.
*edit*
guess you alreay tried higher voltages..didnt see the above post.
That means your chip simply hit a brick wall...
Some fantastic scores here guys. Unfortunately i don't have SLI so i can't compete with you speed demons :). This board is a great overclocker, i don't really think we can deny that.
Here is my 3DMark 11 result with a single 580 and 2600K @ 5.4Ghz.

Hi Guys , I just got this board and a 2600K chip ,all works well at 4.5Ghz but when i go with 46X multi i get a cold boot thing where the pc retries 3 times and more often than not will default back to original 3.4Ghz clock,
I am on 7a bios and using LLC level 2, volts is set at 1.385 , cpuz reads 1.416 volts, PLL is set to enable , and turbo is off.
With PPL is there a value to add or is it just a case of setting it to enable?
Is there anything else i need to set to get 4.6 and onwards.
btw prime stable at 4.5 Gigs temps maxing at 66 degrees.
edit: after a bit of help from 1Day i managed to boot into windows at 5.0 Ghz but corrupted my Steam files :(
anything i can do to prevent this happening , corruption to files that is?
