well it is called a 'challenge' if it was easy it would not be called a challenge ;)
About the tools you are allowed to use, according to my german colleague who is taking care of the tech side of this event, you are allowed to use all tools.
Drivers for the board will be provided by MSI download stations and you can also get all the biosses for this motherboard.
Dear all,
the hardware is on the way, I expect it in our office early next week so most of you will receive the components by the end of next week so you still have a week to test.
I never said it wouldn't be simple ;) I'm just surprised about adding a 3rd benchmark since the discussion here was about 1M or 32M. Now that they have decided that it'll be 32M they simultaneously decided a 3rd benchmark should be added. I'm just surprised they did so without ever mentioning it was an option;)
Maybe it's a bit of a stupid question, but what will happen with the hardware? Will we get one set as a team or will there be 2 sets of hardware for 1 team? The last would be better, when 1 set of hardware walls at a low bclk you can take the other. Because there are Eclipses that wall at 210, 220 and at 230.
And what memory are we using? I know it's OCZ, but what type? (I so hope we get Blades)
Last year we have two sets of hardware but we have unlucky because both of boards are been rev. B.
I Hope this year we will have two sets too.
I think everything from OCZ (Blades, Flex EX whith water or withouth) will be fine
I am really surprised, that contestants dont receive an official e-mail with all rules! Lot of question here, are answered in that e-mail ...
Then READ this:
All OC teams will receive set of one MSI Eclipse SLI mainboard, one MSI N260GTX Lightning graphics card, the memory and a Intel Core i7 CPU (950) before the event to let them prepare for the competition. This Hardware will be sent from MSI HQ to local subs in E/W27.
The hardware set of mainboard, graphics card, memory and Intel CPU (the overclockers get in advance) must be brought and hand carried to the event in Germany and must be used there for the competition.
Additionally a second set of mainboard, graphics card, CPU and memory will be available at the event. This can be used as back-up in case of a defect. If a team breaks the replacement hardware as well it’s out of the race.
PS. if you someone dont receive that official e-mail with rules, program, hotel info ... etc. Drop me your email in PM, will re send it ...
It's good that nobody planned anything for the 3 weeks prior to the comp then, so everyone is ready to bench when the hw might arrive. I hope MSI make it right with good food, beer and possibilities.
Sadly, i have to disappoint you. Not that i havent been there, but I do not know munich very well.
Anyway, we will have a lot of fun;)
You might want to be careful with such statements mate! Saying all tools are allowed also includes programs considered to be cheats by the overclocking community. I suggest putting together a list of programs (or type of programs) that will be allowed. By types I mean for example if a person doesn't want to use the msi software to softmod the gfx card but a self-made or downloaded program.
On second thought a list with programs that aren't allowed might be better:p:
talkeng with some people that joined the MOA 2008 told me that the results were collected just at the end of the day, so, nobody could know the results of the other contestants till the end of the competition.
SHould be really moer einteresting if this time, we will have a board with realtime results, i think it is better for media and realtime coverage, for anybody wich will look at the compeittion, and also for all the contestants because in this way anybody can fill better the pressure, think to his own tactic an decide his own strategy.
Bench till the end of the day without have information about all the other results, cannot give to the contestants the real feeling of the competition IMHO.
Think to that MARCO please.
I hope to be there with trouffman for France, if everything goes well for the broadcasting of the event like we did in the other European OC competitions finals ;)Quote:
For Germany, there will be stummerwinter and me.
I lived 4 years in Nürnberg so not so far from München but I was 5 years old xD, so I have also no idea about anything there xD ... but there is beer for sure so like nespresso .. what else ? :DQuote:
Sadly, i have to disappoint you. Not that i havent been there, but I do not know munich very well.
Anyway, we will have a lot of fun
:rofl::rofl:
I know that in Norway the hw where sent last week so i hope they are here soon;)
Good luck Dp and Hifiking, next year we will take you:D
2 year in row i got 2 place:P
Completely agreed.
I'm happy to see that MSI think about the benchmarks ans changed it this way. 3 benchmarks is allright for me, even if i don't really like 03 :D
Our contact in France told me that he will send me the hardware during the week, maybe on wednesday. It means only one week training...But i'll do my best.
For France, Brice28 & me will be there ;)
I just received MSI Eclipse SLI and MSI N285GTX Superpipe OC, no CPU or RAM yet..
