DAK is hitting the vodka already.
I'm not off work yet or I would be right there with you DAK.

Tempt me to fold more, you will... but part with my booze I shall not!
wish i was Dak, ive tried with 4 different dvd roms, 5 different HD 3 xp discs, 2 vista, 2 server 2008 1 server 2003.....
the only thing that works is win2k, but that craps out on me because the 3 machines are all dual core:(
im SERIOUSLY considereing taking a sledge hammer to a few 9600 gso, 8800 gxt, 3 amd 4400 x2, and a xeon 5420 along with 4 mobos.....
ID your rig specs..where does it fails?
it all fails during the .dll install of the os.
just sent a pm... let me try and put all my old hardware back in it and try it from there...
thanks dak, sorry about hijacking the thread....
Checked your data cables? I've had that cause strange troubles before.
Don't take a hammer to anything.... I'll give the parts a good home.... In cardboard! :D :ROTF:
thanks sparky, your a true fiend :)
you aren't by chance trying to install the os with the ram slots full? if so, don't.. that can cause os install issues...
it was either the ram 2x1 mushkin redlines ddr500, my video capture card, or the 2nd gso with sli bridge installed.
i think i got it now,
eh you don't want the SLI bridge for FAH anyway
Good job Skycrane, now it's time for a Vodka....
up and running now, a week lost runnnig on some gso's... grrrrrrrr i hate new computer parts that dont work
Glad you got it all sorted out Skycrane...
congrats Skycrane !
anytime you run into issues like that again. go back to the basics.. strip her down to bare necessity. install the os. then after the os is installed, slowly add components back one at a time, installing the driver with each component addition, verify and test the component, move to the next and so on... until you either find the culprit or pinpoint and correct it... it's much easier to find it that way, than trying to do it blind...
if we would have known your specs... we probably would have suggested.. remove the tv card and second video card... install the os, then add those 2 back one at a time after it was installed. I doubt it was the ram with only 2 sticks (unless it was a bad stick to start, then you'd still have to replace it.. but that could have been tested with a memtest bootable cd if the os install failed with a minimum hardware set)..
Today we overtake SilentPC...
It's about time you woke up Mike. The banging of the trash can lids didn't awaken you did they?
Penalty: Road-Runner & ThunderDuck are penalized for hitting the Nitrous button before Race Day start...So sorry guys...Your 1st week of output gets donated to Team Whiskey...Perhaps you will keep a tighter eye on the drag race light (X-mas tree). It was still yellow when you pulled out of the gate.:ROTF:
