Ok thx theres no other audio with the board?
Ok thx theres no other audio with the board?
The board ships with a PCI-E X-fi daughter card instead of on-board audio.
don't know which GTX you choose, but if it's standard dual slot, there's no problem to put the X-Fi in the free PCI-e 1x slot remaining. I'm using 2 MSI 8800GT Zilent in SLI, they are dual slot, I placed them in the blue slots and there's enough space to put the X-Fi between them.
@ theYipster : any answer to my question about RAM timing and frequency ? if i'm right, the fastest, the best (so I would say 1000Mhz@5-5-5-15 better than 800Mhz@4-4-4-12). but I prefer an expert to tell me... :)

Gamin yes its the standard dual slot yipster has 8800gtx in sli and said it wont fit.
oh and yipster i was talking about the pcie xi fi that comes with the board.
gamin...
It depends on your FSB. If you're running a 1600mhz FSB or lower, then 800 at 4-4-4-12 is better. If you're running a 2000mhz FSB, then you want the 1000mhz option. Remember 1:1 is best, and tighter timings go further on an nForce platform than higher mhz. You should only run 1000mhz RAM if you running a 2000mhz (500mhz base) FSB.
Malik,
what did I say wouldn't fit? Only a PCI sound card won't fit with two GTXs in the blue slots. A PCI-E sound card will fit fine.
I was reading the whole to topic to verify what you said, cos' that's what I wanted to say...
Malik : it will work, don't be afraid. if not, you still have 2 PCI-e 16x slots free to put the X-Fi in it, so no prob.
@theYipster : once again, simple words to explain things... thanks for that
Yipster i miss read your post sorry and thanks again for your help.
This board seems to love the tight timings.
Malik,
I run two 8800GTXs in SLI. Both are in the blue PCI-E slots. The X-FI daughter card is positioned in the white PCI slot between the two cards. Everything fits just fine. See the picture.
Well i tried to find out how to fix vdrop no luck im droping 0.05 i have to set my q6600@3600 to 1.535 volts thats terrible i watch my volts drop to 1.48 from 1.525 im getting anoyed
Vdroop is a fact of life with almost any 775 board available today. Learning how it effects your overclock, temps and stability and how to compensate for it will make everything more enjoyable for you I hope. I haven't seen any volt mods anywhere for this board or even read points posted but neither have I seen anyone specifically ask for help in discovering any of that.
Hi Guys !!!
I have my rig,,,
Q6600@ 3.6ghz 1600 x 9
Ballistix 1066mhz DDR2 at 800 mhz @ 3-3-3-6 2t
MSI P7N Diamond
Artic freezer pro 7 lapped and nice and shiney..
Running BIOS 1.16....
I had the p07 bios it would let me adjust FSB tp 1800 so 900 1:1 at a lot lower core V and temps but it would cause my 2 x ASUS 8800GT`s to fall on their ass!!!!!
Hopefully i can sort this with a new Bios or new firmware...
So what is in fact better....
to run at 1800 fsb so 900 mhz Around 9600 mhz read in everest
or
1600 fsb so 800 mhz around 9100 mhz in everest..
I know what you will say the 1800 fsb version but in fact which is the better for performance. if i can sort the Gpu problem i will go back to the p07 bios but it would not let me run at 3-3-3-6........
so what do you think....????
So which bios are you on now? 116? Will that bios let you run 8 multi with the q6600? I'm not sure of the question? 450x8 vs 400x9? Of course the higher fsb will be desirable if you can do it stable. I see you posted some everest read numbers. How much of a hit do you take with bios P07 using that bench if you have to run cas4 vs cas3?
Congrats on the OC SBlaster! Please post your voltage settings for 3.6ghz at both 1600mhz and 1800mhz so that we can all compare notes and add to our knowledge pool :)
Generally speaking, tighter timings are preferable to a faster RAM clock speed on nForce boards. CAS3 at 800mhz is nothing to scoff at. You might also want to try for a T1 command rate at 800mhz. If you can achieve it (and I'd say you have a good shot,) you'll realize a nice performance boost.
Hi !!
Yipster....
I have reflashed to P07 and sorted the graphics problems with a run through with drivercleaner and so the new firmware for the twin GT`s work fine so i can post votages for you guys....
Running a GO Q6600
FSB 1800 450 x 8
MEM 900 Mhz @ 2.3v ( Crucial Ballistix 1066Mhz ) @4-4-4-4 2T TRC 10, TWTR 8 everything else on auto.
CPU in BIOS and increase of 0.1875 giving 1.384v in real time in CPUID. ( May have to increase after more hardcore burn ins )
NB 1.4v
CPU GTL 65
FSB TER 25
With the spectrum and the other Guff ! disabled, mem on expert, everything else on Auto !!
Im getting around 9620 MB/s in everest read tests for the mem..
18000 in 3DMARK 06
Temps run at 28-32 deg C standing to 58 deg C Full load....water cooling on order !!! LOL...
I have had this Boot @ 4.2 GHz for a mad two min test....dangerous...but it did boot.... Hopefully i can still get it to this once a good dose of water is applied..!!!! wish ful thinking !!!!
If you want i can post screenies once i suss who to do it..( NOOB ) lol someone please PM me to save embarrasment ...ha ha ha ....
Hi Loonym !!!
I am using P07 now but will go back to the other bios and post results.....
Im at 1800 x 8 @3.6 ghz
With mem at 4-4-4-4 2t everest reads 9620 mb/s
at 5-5-5-18 2t everest reads 9150 mb/s
A hell of a differance !!!!!!
I still could do with some help on the timings as i would love to get to 10 K reads, i should be able to. I would also like a 1T read but would propably need some help with them settings......
Whats the highest anyone has gone with a Q6600 ????? i did a 4.2 with the 1.16 bios !!!!!! but as the water is on order thats as far as it goes till then...Booooo!!!!!!
It seems i have a decent chip here, and of course a first class motherboard !!! best i have ever had, it will and has !! took so much stick ...and i still comes back for more !!
WELL DONE MSI !!!!!
I did 4.05ghz with the 1.1B4 BIOS. I'm at 3.6ghz currently with my Q6600. It looks like you have a great chip if you're on 28-32 idle / mid 50s load at 3.6ghz on air. What's your VID and Batch number?
>|S|<blaster, nicely done. No real need to reflash the 116 bios. I'm certain the multis won't won't work with q6600.
Hi Yipster..
The quad is a BX80562Q6600SLACR GO
Other info.....MM#891337
Version# E10342-001
FPO L740A800
Is that all you needed....??????:welcome:
LoonyM
Hi I have a water kit on order, but im not sure it will be OK?? its a thermaltake big water 760i..is that ok or sould i go for a custom rig made from select bits ????
Please give some tips.........
Heh, out of all that, all I was looking for was the FPO / Batch. This code indicates when the chip was fabricated. In many costs, chips from the same batch often have similar OC characteristics. The other numbers aren't as meaningful.
Do you know your VID? I'm most interested in that number. You can read it from Core Temp. Let me know :)
Also, custom water rigs are always best, but they do take a good amount of time to research, plan, and put together.
My Q6600 is cooled by a custom rig I put together. The water block is a D-Tek Fuzion, the radiator is a Swiftech MCR-320, the pump is a Laing DDC-3.2 (with Petra's custom top,) and the reservoir is a Swiftech M-CRES Micro. I use ever-popular Masterkleer 7/15 tubing to put it all together.
Hi !!
Yipster..
The VID is 1.250V
Any good for ya !!
