Thanks guys for your replies.
Ok. I've fitted my Xonar D2X Card on the Las PCi-E Slot. yes I'm using 4 sticks. And also modded my 8800 Ultra KO with a Zalman VF1000+RHS88 Ramsink +AS5+ a 120 Fan
The full specs of my build are here FYI
http://www.silentpcreview.com/forums...ic.php?t=47716
I was happy since I made the mod. BUT...
I'm not not that happy with it now. Warm days are coming now. and I noticed that while playing Crysis the GPU was going up to 85C Hmm.... On idle this thing sits at 60C which is OK.
Do you guys think I can go ahead and try the Thermalright HR-03 Instead
THe 1 billion dollar question: Would it fit with a 120mm fan?
These are pictures of my current modded VF1000:

What do you guys think? Any P5E3 Owner with one Hr-03 installed?
PS: I'm hating ASUS for deciding to have the first bracked not to be a PCI-E... A very bad decision for this mobo...
Nice setup
Looks like you have plenty of room for liquid cooling (Can always use a cheap kit)... Dosen't take much liquid to cool 8800's... Your max temps under load would only be around 50C... Just a thought...
How does this board handle 4 gigs at high FSB i'm looking at getting 2 more gigs of my current ram when the price drops a bit ok ok a lot lol
4x1GB @ 1600 7-7-7-18 no problem.
Hi all, well i ain't getting my corsairs back so i got a refund. Ive decided to go for 4gig(2x2gig) of 1600. But ive got two possible choices
1. 4GB OCZ DDR3 PC3-12800 Platinum EB XTC (7-6-6) Dual Channel kit
or
2. 4GB G.Skill DDR3 PC3-12800 1600MHz HZ Series (7-7-7-18) Dual Channel kit
The OCZ is a little cheeper so i'm leaning that way at the mo. I also figgured that because these are 2 gig modules i don't think ill get much more than rated out of them.
Thanks
Go with teh G.Skill... The OCZ say 7-6-6, but most have to use 7-7-7 or higher to get it stable on the P5E3
Thanks Malkiewicz,
I went for the G.skill's especially after reading your post about your troubles the the OCZ modules. I also found a few other posts about the same type of thing. Man i think this board is just way too picky especially of your running a quad. Well G.Skill is meant to be the most compatible memory in the world so we'll see how it goes you'll have to keep me posted
About OCZ Enhanced Bandwith at 1600Mhz, I have it at 7-6-6, but I must configure it on BIOS manually as it does not have XMP Profiles. Using 1109 BIOS.
Here is a CPU-Z and a Memset screenshots:

http://www.telefonica.net/web2/juarapa/memset.jpg
Another thing to configure it to work is:
RAS# Precharge: 6 DRAM Clocks
DRAM Voltage: 1.88/1.90
PCI Spread Spectrum: Disabled (try on Enabled)
CPU Spread Spectrum: Disabled (try on Enabled)
You could see in OCZ forums this memory configured and stable on a Maximus Extreme:

Nostradamus, are you running 2x1gig or 2x2gig. Ive read post that say the 2x1's fly but the 2x2's seem a little more picky especially at the high FSB
You have it on the signature.
I am running 2x1Gb modules. Maybe with 2 Gb it is a bit diferrent... sorry.
Hey no worries man, Just trying work out if this is a ram limitation, but then i had issues with the corsairs but that was when i tighten the latency up. mmm
i just received my replacement board after the last one died
it took sooooooooooooo long it's not funny
anyways it came with 0704 bios from last year. What are the latest bios files like. Which one stands our like dogs balls to be the best so far fellas
i am talking about RAM overclocking (P5E3 DELUXE) and FSB overclocking for dual cores
thanks for your input fellas
i'll also have a look at some of the last few pages of this and another couple of threads
i hate flashing Asus boards because you cannot go back lol
pretty fast board
http://img211.imageshack.us/img211/8...z11m11slv7.png
Well, I'm using 1109 and its working fine. You can roll back with ASUS BIOS's just switch off the computer when you are flashing a BIOS then use the CD to recover the BIOS.
lol nah man
just died for no reason
hey this new bios sucks
i wish i backed up 0703 because on that bios i could get higher FSB and i could also get Ai Clock Twister: Stong + Transaction Booster: 3
you can see how crazy fast that superpi run is
Well..think that 0901 is the alternative...if you remember some pages and time ago you were glad with that..
FSB was great on that bios but performance was not
i am sitting on that bios now and 1T doesn't work and i cannot get Stong twister to work
bad efficiency
i will wait until i can find that 0703 bios and put it aside and play with GB X48T-DQ6 :D
New bios 1203 is out..
New build with this mobo (P5E3 Deluxe Wifi) Need to update sig, forgot I was already registered. Main rig prior to this is an Asus A8R32 mvp the DFI has gone to my oldest son. Been following this thread for awhile as I was dead set on this board for over a year. Shame the price hasn't really changed.
Intel Q6600 GO $199 new retail MicroCenter
P5E3 Deluxe wifi new $324.00 Newegg
ATI HD2900XT 512mb, pulled from my A8R32 mvp (using old x1900gt for initial setup, don't want to mess with working rig for now)
Thermaltake Bach VX (Refurbished price from Thermaltake $59.99, looks new
though and came with all accessories)
Pioneer 20X DVD±R DVD Burner Black IDE (wanted to save all SATA slots for storage, besides got an ide port might as well use it)
Hiper 580w modular black RMA new replacement
2x1gb Gskill DDR3 10600/1333 $127 shipped (nice to see DDR3 pricing drops, gonna go with something 4gb high end later)
Seagate 500gb 7200.11 32mb cache new oem Newegg $109.00
Samsung 1.44mb floppy
Mostly stock air cooling 1x120mm back 140mm front, 92mm side window, dual 70mm pci slot fan (one exhaust, one positional) stock Intel cooler for now.
OS XP pro 32bit, gonna dual boot Vista Home premium 64bit sp1 in a bit but gonna setup with XP for now, money is tight but $99 oem at Newegg aint bad.
Its been a slow build as up until now I got stuff as I could afford it, the cpu was the first thing i got. Had other home repair crap taking up all my time and money.
bios 1203 flash succesful using USB thumdrive and EZflash from bios, cleared cmos to re-enable express gate. Shipping bios was 704. Now OS time. Thanx to all who have reported experiences as everything has gone exactly as described.:D
Update: XP pro sp2 installed without a hitch, then i put it up for the night. CPU idles at 30c and RAM was detected with 2 profile option (nice). Tried to save a buck there but future upgrades are a Raptor drive for OS and second 500gb drive for raid, Vista SP2 disc from Newegg, and a 1600 4gb DDR3 kit (something with lower latency like the HPC OCZ Reapers, also a better cpu cooler.
Now to installing all other drivers and software (yawn). Going from a 320gb drive to 500gb drive. Going to pull it out and hook it up to my old rig and just put everything in a folder. Also got the missing remote from ebaY. I know its a gimmicky board but me liky, and with the wifi access point my wife can use her PDA and laptop away from my rig and I can setup a wireless connection for the kiddy's various rigs. This build went swifter than my last Opteron build.
Once all the software is setup the overclocking can begin. Time to read up on some Intel Core 2 guides. Any tips for certain guide favorites are welcome and rep will be returned if needed. I am not new to overclocking but have had very limited experience with Intel for sometime. Nice to have a build I can be proud of again, all my dual Opteron rigs hold a special place in my heart though.
Nice setup... Good luck with your OCZ upgrade... I've had nothing but problems with my mine... RMA'ed 3 Times...
I’ve pushed my Q6600 to 3.77 GHz... 24/7 no problems... For some reason 3.8's unstable...
Nice overclock:up:. Mayhaps I will stay with Gskill and go with one of their 4gb kits, and thanx for the vote of confidence. I am hoping with my good cpu temps I can hit 3.4ghz+ on air. Gaming on here is secondary going to be doing alot of encoding, ripping, and video editing. If anyone here has experience with setting up their remote please post any problems to watch out for or any other usefull tips. Same for setting up an access point with the boards built in wireless card.
Update: Everything is working OK. Have a couple questions though. My multi won't stay at 9 it keeps dropping to 6. I tried uninstally AIsuite and EPU driver with no success. All setinngs are in the bios. It will go to 9 but won't stay there. Is there a setting in the bios that will lock it in. I disabled AI clocktwist and and other auto overclocking functions. Also any good guides that are maybe specific to the Asus x38 chipsets?
I tried setting up the ACHI function for my harddrive a Seagate Barracuda 7200.11 500gb 32mb cache model http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...82E16822148288 , but it blue screens unless I leave it on IDE under SATA configuration in the bios. My DVD drive is IDE so there shouldn't be any conflicts. I tried uninstalling the Intel raid driver but it auto reinstalls no matter what I do. The hard drive also needed a firmware update because of cache recognition issues (only 8mb would show). Is there a app that can can identify if all the cache is working?
Done some mild overclocking: http://valid.x86-secret.com/show_oc.php?id=364108 FSB 333 Vcore 1.25v w/multi-9 for 3ghz, strap on auto, Vdimm 1.65v 8t,8t,8t,15t@1333/Command rate of 1n all other settings on auto for now. I will read through the other thread here http://www.xtremesystems.org/forums/...d.php?t=160849 but any suggestions are appreciated. I got Coretemp reading of 1.32 VID not sure if this is good or bad.
