Both of my P35 boards hit 500x7 w/ ease and neither got all that hot. The Max def has a bit more of a learning curve, but it gets along VERY well w/ my X-Fi and has a superb layout vs the Asus P35 boards IMO.
The SB/NB cooling may have lots of surface area, but it's just not tall enough to get hit by my intake wo/ adding some fans. How do you guys think a Jing Ting (copper flavor) will cope w/ this NB? I've already got one of those and an Evercool, but it doesn't look like the EC will fit. :(
The thought of paying an additional $$ for chipset cooling on this board makes me sad. What about good quiet 40mm's? I thought I saw a pic around here somewhere.
The 1st 2 should fit between SB and GPU, no? The last one's a 20mm. Anyone using these or have other suggestions?

Not only does it light up blue, but it knocked 7C load off the NB @ load! Looks like it's time to order up some more for the rest of the sink, hehe. :D
Just updated to 0907 and this is the best BIOS so far IMO as far as stability and OC.
Just got to wait for some lower ambient temps so I can push this thing further
I am completely comfused..... why does CPUz say that I am at 2.84 and Windows and Coretemp say I at 3.19???? Is it cause I am at x8 muliplier??
I can't see to find a balance at 9x for 2.8 and 1066 for my memory or even 1146 for memory. Any ideas would be helpful
With Core processors, if you use anything other than the stock multi, it screws the reading up for some programs.
Hey guys
Here are some graphs i'd like comments on...
also, my board doesn't run on anything besides 400strap. except for stock auto settings, which is 266strap. Broken dividers?
9x multi doesn't work for me, even when underclocked, tried various straps, memory speeds, voltages... wth?
3.6ghz is not stable yet, vcore is probably too low (i did up it a bit, along with other essentials), but i get high temps with my case on silent fan settings. Fans on high sound like a cheap hairdryer  Temps are pretty high at 3.4ghz for my tastes, but i did hit 81c with ~1.41 vcore
I guess lapping is my only option left, I recently swapped my stock cpu block for a dtek fuzion with mx-2 paste. Temp dropped ~2c... not what i expected.
Any comment is appreciated!

Oh, here's a 10 hour OCCT run, with stock gigabyte waterblock. Ambient is 23c, which drops to 20c during the night, hence the gradual drop.

Yes, you can ignore those as they are false readings.
my cpuz read somthing like 2.07 at 6 x and my system tray in windows says e 6850 at 3.01. it is all stock on 401 with everything at auto. i tried the manual settings in the bios at 9x333 e6850 settings to see and cpuz still says 2.07 at 6 x. i have not ventured into updating the bios or overclocking this new computer yet because i am a newb at this stuff but i will as soon as i figure it out..
You need to disable C1E, EIST, etc in the BIOS. To save power, the board is downclocking the chip at idle. Try running CPUz while running OCCT or Prime and I'll bet the speed goes back up.
thanks,,will try those with some other settings that i have writen down for oc.. updated total newb now,, winblows or somthing will not let me change anything in bios.. bios lets me change it but once i restart it error reports in winblows and i have to shut down/restart then back in bios nothing changed. it goes back to stock settings?? i forgot my pretty much useless asus book in my work truck because i wanted to read it instead of working..
well my NB is under water with a mcw30 so that might help a little for stability but this board never falls over @ 1700FSB with 1.45v on the NB.
this is the most stable board i've ever used once you get the bios dialed in properly, even moreso than my p5k-dlx which was also good but the maximus handles quads better.
hey guy i gota problem with cpu init :(
yesterday i was installing my watercooling and when i was leak testing the barb on my rad was not full tightend so when i was turning that i was allso loosing my cpu barb(connect) the cpu barb leaked a good bit and the board and gfx got wet.i left it for a day to dry and today it was a perfectly dry, when i was leak testing there was no current going through the board so there should not off been anydamage done ? when i tryed to boot it today i Keep getting CPU INIT and it wont even boot.i tried pressing the clear cmos button with no joy :(.I slotted out the ram and that also did not work :(
so just wondering if anyone has any ideas to fix this :)
reseat the cpu. what have you got to lose?
loose loop.... :shakes:
it wont post at all :(
just tried remounting the cpu with no luck :(
any other ideas , is there any other way to clear cmos then using the button or battery ?
try using cpu on other board... 2$ says you fried something :yepp:
Ooooh...this is gonna be fun. I'm gonna like this board. Using an E6550 (stock 2.33GHz) while waiting the release of the E8500. I simply raised the FSB to 425 (7 x 425 = 2975) and left all else on auto. Seems perfectly stable (haven't run Prime95 or anything yet) but did run 3DM06 and got this...

I imagine this CPU will hit 3.4GHz easy and this board is gonna be rockin'. I'm on the 0903 BIOS BTW.
I found out what my problem was: EVERY divider is unstable past 400 MHz! I was trying to run 1:1 by manually selecting it, but I had to set to auto.....I'll be damned nuckingfuts you're the man. I'm stable at 3.8 GHz now and I just broke 20K in 3dmark06 on Vista x64.......I really need to install XP to see what I get there.
