I tried that... In that case highest I can get is 440x9 = 3960 while with a lower multi I can get 480x8.5 = 4080 so it is a little bit lower. If I use 8 multi than I can't get 500 FSB stable :/
I have no idea if it is a bad chip or bad mobo :(

changing CPU Margin Enhancement to COMPATIBLE can be worth 10-20fsb.
Any point in updating from 1402 to 1406 if I'm not running a Yorkfield? Ie, are there any other fixes or enhancements it's worth updating for?
Sadly it makes my rig even more unstable. If I have it at optimized I can get into Windows and surf and such but can't bench. But if I set it to Compatible I either BSOD (IRQL less then equal or something like that) right before desktop should show up or I get into windows but explorer doesn't even start, sometimes I freeze in BIOS as well :)
I also have bad experience with Compatible mode. Performance mode worked the best so far.
hehe I'll try that one when I get home :) What BIOSes are you guys using? Perhaps they have changed things
Running Compatible mode here on 1406 bios. Been pissing around with my OC a bit more and running in Compatible mode got me a coupla fsb extra so far, still testing higher tho. I'm at 8 x 484 1 hour OCCT Stable and testing higher now.
ThugsRook, thanks for the Heads Up as to the CME setting, really never messed with it much before.

1406 here too. Also rock solid:

Lucky yous :)
Gonna try higher later tonight but still going strong so far.

Just got this board a few days ago, finally have some time to test!

This 1.5 setting overvolts mate (around 1.75ish now): so try eg 1.6 and try go down then 1.52 is the lowest you can go as 1.5 and AUTO overvolt
He got also 105 TJcasemax set... but might be a good idea to verify the mount, reapply the thermal paste , check IHS of cpu and verity the cooler flatness...
Hi Friends,
I just happen to assemble my new PC with P5Q Deluxe, Q9550, ATi4870 Sapphire, Corsair 8500C5D Dominator 2x2GB Kit with Cooler Fans, CoolerMaster Hyper 212 Cooler.
I logged into Windows Vista x64 Ultimate and checked with CPU-Z, the following is shown :
I have patched my BIOS to v1406.Quote:
Core Speed - 2003.6MHZ
Multiplier - X6.0
Bus Speed - 334 MHZ
Rated FSB - 1336 MHZ
Core Voltage - 1.080 v
I want to run my system @ 3GHZ Stable.
Kindly advice what settings do i need to change in BIOS so that my CPU runs at 3GHZ.
Here is what iam thinking to change the settings to in AI tweaker ..
Is this good enough ? Is there any setting mentioned above which is high r low ? Please Advice .. Awaiting your replyQuote:

No, there is no mind use that kind of volts for +200mhz overclock.
9550 Should run that whit minium voltages.
Okey!
Q9550 stock is 2800Mhz, That you saw 2000Mhz on ur monitoring programm is just power saving option wich changes your multiper from 8,5x to 6x when your cpu is idle.
Then about those voltages..
If understood right you want oc 2.8->3.0 wich is only 200mhz increase.
your system should run easily whit
cpu vcore: try use your orginal VID wich you can see: example realtemp after that reduce it and see does it work (just optional)
nb: 1.12
FSB voltage: 1.12
vPLL: 1.52
And set your ram to rated voltage.
one notch in each so default setting overvolting goes off.
but i have all fan 12v
what I can down to have the same speed but not too hot?

Either you back off to 450FSB or you buy a decent cooler (that Zalman is so crap for OC's)... therer's no magical voltage setting to reduce coretemps big time, while keeping the same or better clockspeed... some CPU's just don't run as hot as others, some need less voltage while running hotter, some require more volts yet run cooler than the lower volt ones...
Upgrade ya cooler and you will be fine... but not with another Zalman plz...
I have put a noctua nh u12p whith one fan
but I don't put a second fan front my back 120 mm because for down mb t° I had put the little fan chipset ....
thanks:cool:
if truehighroller can give exactly the q9450 I have see on page 174 his 8400
but no the q9450
