Anyone having problems with USB legacy enabled in BIOS and running memtest?
Ok my first post after reading this thread for a long time ^^ Underneath I posted a screenie of 4ghz of my E8400 EO.
http://www.plaatjesupload.nl/bekijk/...581396-640.jpg
What is that a picture of on your desktop? I want it on mine lol. Where did you get it?
Woohoo, with some tweaking i managed to get my system stable with extra DRAM Read Training enabled and Ai Clock Twister set to Stronger.
Running the RAM at 2.0 volts. Haven't tested yet but who cares, it has to improve something lol
Ok here is the deal, each stick of RAM I have can complete 2 passes of memtest (1½ hour) at 520 FSB and 6 multi. No errors. As soon as I put 2 sticks I can't even boot at 6x500. Memtest freezes before it even starts. This is with NB Volt 1.4 even.
So am I forgetting some settings or is my mobo faulty? It errors out in memtest at 8.5x475 after about half an hour like I tested earlier this morning. I thought it was memory but it isn't.
So what do I do?
Thank you for your time!
I've been trying to isolate the problem for quite some time yesterday. Like I said before either stick will pass all memtests at 520 FSB. Put 2 sticks in and you have trouble. I tried to see if it is the memory, so I ran 1:1 with FSB at 400 (multi was 6) and divider so memory was run at 500. No problems there. Memory is rock stable for hours of memtest and windows testing (Prime95 blend and large FFT)
After that I left everything as you see down, most of the stuff at auto, stock voltages. Rig sometimes wont even post at 415x6. I can't help but thing something is faulty here :( Sadly I don't know anyone with similar setup so I can't test my stuff, can only do some more testing.
But if rig can't do 6x415 MHz something must be wrong :shakes:

Is 1406 good for the Q6600's or is it more of the samething ?
Here is the funny thing, I'm testing and upping FSB now, and have all the volts at minimum. Testing is going great. Last night I tested 490 FSB (6 multi) and it was stable for a couple of hours... but... when I restart I only get fans spinning. Comp wont even post... And I have to reset BIOS and do all the settings over again, test stability in Windows no probs, than I reboot and same thing again. What could be the problem? I tried 2 different BIOS-es as I thought it might be BIOS issue but still the same thing happens.
Any ideas?
havent been much around lately to check this thread up actively like i did in the past, I am still on 1206 or 12xx it was, I am using a Q6600 on it, is there any other bios over 12xx suggested?
Is it a pain to remove the heatsinks on this board? Does Asus just use thermal paste or an adhesive?
It's easy to remove it and I recomend it. I replaced the default paste by Artic Silver, removed the caps and placed some 40mm fans. Here some pics:

Nice, thats good to hear. How did you pull off that asus logo on the northbridge heatsink? I have a couple of 40mm fans that I want to throw on there, myself. Thanks for the pics.
i dont know why my cpu need high voltage to boot in windows, its so hot... because if i lower vcpu to 1.45v, it doesnt stable in windows (random reboot)Quote:

at 1.4750v, my pc is stable with games, 3dmark06 but it not stable with prime95 because cpu's temp is very high (over 80oC)
can u show me to lower voltage but keeping this speed???
Check IHS of the CPU to see if it's flat, also verify the base of the TRUE plz... otherwise lap them...

See if you can lower the Vcore with these settings (don't expect much of it though) but I think the contact between cooler and CPU is not optimal, and/or you just got a hothead of a CPU...
If you want it to run stable, let alone cooler, you will have to drop the cpu clock to around 3.2GHz so you can lower the voltage. Some Q6600's just dont like running at 3.3GHz+, only very few did 3.4 - 3.6 and fewer still did 3.6GHz +. Try remounting the heatsink though but a quad at 1.475v is going to be very hot no matter what.
What would be the best bios for an e8400 on this board. I am using 1406 right now and not having the best luck.
Also, which 2gb sticks have been the best performers with this board? Im thinking about picking up these http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...82E16820231209
These Gskills work fine on my board mate at 1130Mhz at 1.94 Bios setting (5-5-5-15-trfc 55 and light)
