Dothan @ CT-479 - howto and fixes.

730@2.5ghz 10x250fsb p4c800-e bios 1021 2x512 corsair 3500 3.25v 250mhz 2226 x800xtpe antec 430w true power 3.3v@3.6 sotrm/G5 uknown gpu camry heatercore ehime 1250 seems stable at these settings sofar
tried the new beta bios (updated to beta bios with asus update may try with boot disk soon) but had some problems after clearing cmos the multi went from 6x to 8x and it wouldnt boot over 166fsb
i am useing EIST ClockGen and U wire mod for 1.55v

thanks, did you set fsb>150 directly in bios or via clokgen?...
hope i've made the good choice 'cause i could grab a 740 from philippines...

i set my fsb to 250 via clockgen as i had to lower the multi from 12 to 10 with eist
the bios was set to 201fsb and this cpu only dose 2.5 on high end water others are getting 2.8 on air...

When i first ran this m730 it would do 233 easy but after trying other boards and my other ct-479 it wont go past 231 but 230 is stable.

if i lower the multi i can get upto 250fsb no problem buti found my ram needed slower timings than at 230 and most tests ran slower.

i have it water cooled with a storm g4 at 12x230 1:1 with 1.5v very happy with it so happy i sold my p4 2.8c.

i booted at 133 first and then set to 200 asap no problems

leejsmith just wondering how you went about mounting the g4? i bolted some L shaped pices to the holes in the stock plastic p4 mount then put the down bolts for the waterblock onto the L shaped pices span the waterblock around 90 degree and bolted her down

Can't really get much over 3Ghz (my max on stock was ~2700). Anyway, got a blue screen and thought I corrupted my Windows install. I can get it to boot at stock, but won't go into Windows at 201 anymore. :wth: :mad:

I just wanted to run 2003/2005 with this thing and cascade my X800 XT PE, then put the cascade on the Dothan for pi and 2001. But this thing is tempermental.

sounds like you did almost the same as me. this pic is with my cascade block but i didnt work as well because of the height of the block i couldnt get enough pressure it was touching the l-shape brackets but as the storm is almost twice as heigh it worked ok.

Sounds sweet. I tried a 170 TEC on a Prescott, and I just couldn't contain the heat, and I had an enormous raddy with 4x120 fans. But with the 25-ish watt Dothan, it should be cool, no pun intended.

A: Definitely yes ! That's why we provide CT-479 Upgrade Kit for Intel Pentium M CPU on ASUS MB (Note: the only exception is the CPU voltage, which cannot be adjusted through BIOS because the CPU power comes from the CT-479, not from the motherboard.)

this might be the reason im stuck at 2,6ghz with my 730 and vapo. ill have to try the u wire mod and see if it givs :D 3dmark is quit good i would say though http://service.futuremark.com/compare?2k1=8612168

But i think the info on the different supported boards is confusing. How are multiplier adjustments on the P4P800SE for example? What about making a consistent list of info, like this (example):

Vcore = Up to 1.8V
Vdimm = Up to 2.85V
Multi = 6 - CPU-MAX

And repeated in on all the boards. I see alot of users confused about what board to get, if the P4P800-E DLX is better than the P4P800SE and such questions :)

Been wondering why the OC -ability of 730-740 chips seem to have worsened alot since early spring.... maybe Intel is doing some more accurate speed binning because of the popularity of those models. :mad:

The P4P800-SE does not have multi adjustment in the latest (009) bios, just vcore (I do hope they wil get it at some point) and ratio (more options above 200 FSB) as well as vmem. You need to adjust the multi using a Windows utility. CPUMSR works for me, haven't gotten EIST to work (anybody? Bueller?).

Sweet! Nice frriggin price too. Gotta love auctions. Come to think of it, I still have my TEC sitting around, but with a Vapo and a cascade, what's the point? N/B?

You should have no probs cooling that with a 120x2 fan raddy, since that's about 200 watts. It will give off some heat to the room though, 'specially if you have a hot video card (Jesus H those 6800s are hot). And damn, I just noticed how much friggin' heat HDDs give off, since they are all sitting outside of my case now. :shock2:

One sweet thing Lee, your system should be high performance but also very quiet.

No I havent. I've looking to see if some other P4P800 SE users have similar problems... It seems to do it using both bioses (offical and beta). I'll try with my other board (Celeron in it now) and see what results it gives.

It boots at 201 and is rock solid at 240 (x10) right this moment.

I had a question, i'm trying to get my p4c800-e and 730 dothan up and running. Who i got it from did not send the retail box and therefore it doesn't have the cd's. I was having some trouble locating the chipset drivers (that worked) and the audio drivers. I went to intel.com and downloaded some for the 875p, but those didn't work for some reason. Any help would be appreciated. Also, dunno if its the board or what, but it was having a lot of trouble reading the lite-on dvd drive and my WD 160gb HD. Thanks again

P4P800-SE never did have multiplyer change in bios... only -VM.
