working on the cooling as we speak. look for a post in the chilled watercooling section today called liquid frostbyte revisited by chilly 1. thats my unit thats being shown .Next i think is going to be a direct die dual unit one die for gpu other die for cpu. got to talk it over with chilly 1 still. xp 4000 and a new cpu is in the near future. I just cant decide what cpu to get. either a 3700 sandy 4000 newcastle or a fx 53. whatever the case my next cpu will be a 1mb cache. Hopefully my luck will change and ill end up with a good stable cpu soon. For now the x800 xl will have to do till i get my fatality back then i will be in the market for a second pci xpress card.

and AN8 Ultra

have the 3.55VDimm Option?

The first page of this thread is saying that only the Ultra is for sure but not the V2.0 :confused:

why not just get the ultra its basically a fatality without the bling but cheaper with 4 sata @ 3.0 and gigabyte lan.......and it is recorded as having the voltage options.

Neither are really available yet (atacom is the only place that seems to have the Ultra in stock, nobody has the 2.0). You'll have to wait to know for sure.

Coz I could get the V2.0 right next to my workplace :) and the Ultra I would have to order

Every once and a while zipzoom has it on thier site but the price is listed as 255 (which im sure is a typo) and its back ordered.

Just dont want to get something from ata and have to jump through hopes to get them to exchange it.

I want the board so bad and dont really want to wait for egg or zip to get it in.

i remember back in the day when kt400 was around i was one of the few that got the AT7 max2 above ddr 400 when others couldnt. Darn nice board died at ddr 450 one day and got lost in rma status :(

ABIT is NOT DFI.......Believe me .....I know.......When I broke the 400MHz fsb WR with the IC7, they didn't even say a : "way to go".....Zero-nothing-zappa-.....and I think that I have "forced" a quite big amount of users to buy them...... :D

Maybe they are changing. Hey spec advertising is half the sales ticket on xs now a day if you haven't noticed :P And I have reasons to believe we do consititue decent amount of sale (be it by posting finding here, budilding systems for EVERYONE we know -_-, or making purchasing decisions... - i personally use DELL on that one but thats a diff story).

i think you get more than any $$$ can buy here dude..........RESPECT ;)

I have been testing a new bios for Abit, don't ask im under NDA, the thing is I found something quite interesting.

All tests with a 3000+ Venice

The board struggles to do 300fsb 1:1....thing is it does DDR600 real easy if you use the 433 or 500 mode with an E die CPU, infact I can do near ddr700 with 2x256 modules and 650 or so with 2x512 modules,all 1T

I am still playing so no benches etc but i have seen approx 3250MB/s in memtest running 265ishX9 in DDR500mode with 2x512....see how you all do.

Now, 466 mode is not as good, so try and stick with 433 or 500 mode and play with the cpu multi to max the cpu out.

PS...I am running normal drive strength so you should be ok with release bios files.

does your venice do 1T at 1:1

dual channel setup is in memory slot 1&2 or 3&4 right next to eachother WTF.....in which slots do u guys havew the ram installed.....i'm guessing 1&2

solo TOP REVIEW on the Ultra....i know my setup will probably be a bit problematic because of Venice....let's see

i couldn't resist it....i pulled out my old trusty Antec 20-pin PSU with converter SL400 and fired it up.......

3.55vdimm confirmed on board too as Solo mentioned already:fact:

I went to bios chose 2.8V on RAM and set the RAM at 200MHz at tightest possible timings on the UTT RAM(2-2-2-5-1T-7-12-2-2-1-1) ....booted into windows messed around a bit...did a couple of shorter superpi runs...all good...seems like it doesn't have the 1T issue with my Venice.....I am testing now my old Asus UTT result at 3V of 222MHz at tightest imaginable timings (2-2-2-5-1T-7-12-2-2-1-1) and so far so good.....it's looping memtest test#5......10xminutes into it so far NO ERRORS....looking pretty promising........memory bandwidth is at 2792 MB/s at 2001MHz CPU speed 222MHz DDR444 on the RAM at 3V

i will wait for that enermax PSU converter to give higher volts and OCs a crack tomorrow hopefully

One bad thing i spotted is my CPU idling temp of 41-42C which is crazy.....this CPU was at these temps during full load at 2800MHz so either Abit bios is a bit how you going or temps are really higher which i don't like......chipset seems fine....also I applied some silver bullet on that chipset as it had some crapy thermal pad.....maybe that is helping as well......what's up with all the red lights

EDIT: OK turned off test#5 after 15minutes and loaded into windows.....all fine......1M superpi finishes in 40seconds.......:rocker: ...i've also gone to 270HTT in DDR333 divider and RAM was at 221.....looping fine no errors...... :woot: ......CPU at 2433MHz...RAM bandwidth at 3068MB/s........33second 1M SuperPI.........very very nice....CPU temps in load go up to 54C under speedfan but i stuck my finger in there and the copper base of my Freezer64 wasn't even warm......WTF.....i wish someone in sydney could give us a hand with a proper temperature sensor to double check those figures as they don't make sense

I am happy/relieved.....1T is OK and mobo seems to be fine.........I need to do some extensive tests + i am still using my windows from asus setup so will need to do a clean install and do it all properly......looking awefully good so far I must say :banana:............off to bed

Temp is reported about 10c higher than other brand as usual per abit trend... I've yet to have Abit board that reports temp as other board would do since.... p4 S478 abit boards. I still remember wildly panicked people wondering WTH is going on back than.

thanks......mosfet doesn't get hot at 3V and no cold boot bugs yet....i've never experienced it.....even Asus or DFI nf4 Ultra-D.....i only ran my Ultra-D with vdimm jumper in default location 2.5-3.2Volts

i did have a bit of head scratching initially with floppy fail message and this was resolved by going into bios and selecting optimised settings and rebooting....weird one......will play with it tonight when i come back from work....next stock is 3.2V at 237MHz which i did on DFI board and 2.8GHz CPU OC from Asus.......freaking temps are reported high obviously because the base is not even warm.......it's a relief i'm not the only one with that issue so will push the CPU tonight....i've got that silver compound on CPU and chipset so that will take some time to cure as well

i'm getting a hold of some opb handpicked tccd f1 la week 440 chips that do 2.5-3-3-6 so when i recieve them i will do 2 more tests. test 1 will consist of
4x256 mb tccd f1 la. we will see how much 4 sticks hamper overclockability.
test 2 will be to see how much more i can squeeze out of the board performance wise at tighter timings. And of course mushkin redline results will come soon as im trying to pool up the cash for those and another cpu and an an8 ultra.

Edit*** scratch that the person that was going to trade me for my bh-5 chips backed out :(
