From everything I've read in this thread, it is entirely possible to O/C my A64 4000+ to 3 Ghz? I'm hoping to go 10 x 250 with a 4/5 mem divider. Does that sound reasonable?

possible but it depends of your cpu :)
How so? I honestly haven't overclocked since my P3 1Ghz.

Here is my new CPU....an AMD 3700 KACAE 0602GPMW. I think this stepping is on a par with the legendary 0547GPMW. My highest stable overclock on stock volts (on air) is 3080MHz, and with 1.44V I can reach 3135MHz. The latter is only 1 hour 25 minutes prime stable but I am working on that:
3070MHz at 1.392V:

3135MHz at 1.44V (check out the great idle temps...NOT):

About 35Celsius on idle and around <50Celsius on load
System's in the sig.
Prime likes to run forever on 3050MHz
Haven't tried superpi at all on this processor.
Here's my results for CPU-mark 2.0 and 2.1 :

anybody knows what i cant expect from a KAB2E 0604FPFW ? I have it here, but cant test it right now.
edit: well it sucks big time.
hey guys anyone here knows anything about this stepping ?

is this a good overclocker ?? i just saw one i for about $300 i needed to know if its worth it ?
Those kacae chips seem to be good 'clockers from what I've seen.Quote:

This cpu is capable of more...I need better cooling (still on hyper6). According to the bios, my idle temp was 46C  . Also, the vcore was a hair over 1.7v, so cpu-z is inaccurate lol.
edit: LOL, I forgot to set the ldt to 3x instead of 4x :slap:
I got this recent stepping 3700. Its an E6 core. (maybe i shuldn't be posting here - almost a san diego:) )

i havent tested for max yet, need to pop the IHS first. Using XP-90C, load temps are poor 50+. Maybe coz my fan is almost not rotating :D
Just started to test my secondarys 3700+
and so far all I can is "shibby" :woot:
I am at the same temps at stock speeds as I am now at 2.5GHz

im looking at getting an fx-55 sanddy for $200 any good? i know its not as a good of a deal as a 4000+ do the fx clock higher? im not a noob so i know the fx has an adj multi etc but im going to use the stock hsf ( i know its not the greatest idea but it worked on my s754 3000 i hit 2.5ghz)
my new San Diego 4000+ (0656FPMW I think)

Removed IHS for my new sandy. But OMFG, wtf this IHS have letters (A and H)and AMD logo on it. What does it stand for? Technically same 3700+ E4 sandiegos, but different IHS. Dropped temps by 10c.
