I asked if there was any way to check on uploads as I am not running mine as a service. I later discovered how to check mine. This was posted by Tweaked at XR.

That and what are the average time spans for a standard AMD XP rig running at 2 gig? (just shooting for a basis to judge things by)

I guess if one of you guys/gals from XS would do this, could you create some kind of info posting about this and I'll sticky that with the invite to make the switch. That should help get our members attention.

Do a search on Dspy.exe in google. Its a small proggy you can run and watch the progress of D2OL as a service.

There should be a dbench thread here in the d2ol forum with results for a time basis.

I had installed that a couple minutes after I started this program. Just had not figured out how to read the info. As for uploads I found that today. All questions regarding running as a service are for Tweaked at XR.

Start Dspy, and use the browse button provided to navigate to the D2OL folder, much like with F@H.

In the top right corner of dspy, to the right of where it says "completed" you will see total cands that node has produced first, the in () you will see results waiting to be uploaded.

It has links to important threads, downloads, and a lot of useful info. (Like the cands/processor list you're looking for.)

Also... let the XR guys know that they are more than welcome to post here in this thread for help. That will be the quickest way.

Also, tell everyone to set their quene size to 2000 instead of the stock 200 (unless you used rod's installer).

My installers for the F@H teams have the max of 2000 already set. So no worries there! :up:

Cap'n Rod, how do you keep track of your individual node production? Like your linky in sig. my home real time. Collective needs something like that so we can track our individual nodes. :)

Be warned... it's not easy to setup.

Also... it only works over a LAN.

Just installed it, I am running F@H for team 34931 so you only get half, but I felt I owed XS something. Anyhow, I was wondering why does it not run 50/50 with F@H when it's "calculating grid"? F@H is taking >95% cpu power when this happens. they are both low priority in task manager, and when "gridwin.exe" is set to below normal, the situation is reversed. win2kpro, rest in sig.

If there is any other program 'wanting' more cpu power, D2OL gives it to that process. It then doesn't matter any more what priority the other programs are set to, it just gives them more juice...

I set wingrid to normal, it runs for about 10 seconds then d2ol and F@H run 50/50, wierd.

You aren't going to want to run both F@H and D2OL all at once. If you used one of my installers with XWD the priority of D2OL will always go back down to low and D2OL won't run at all.

Works fine with my machines altough... first you have to give from F@H what you wan't
run in D2OL... then just boot. Both of those progs are@low priority IMO.

Like Pytharoras said, they are smooth with each other... like between teams here @ XS ;)

this is annoying, when D2ol is analyzing conformers then it and F@H play nice (50/50), but when it is calculating grid then F@H takes over, any ideas?

D2OL consists of 3 main processes and 1 optional. Abstract definitions:

• D2OL is the process manager and de/compresser of targets/candidates
• GridWin "paints the dots"
• DockWin "draws the lines between the dots"

• D2OLdaddy checks for any instance of the above processes every (10) seconds and sets them to idle only priority.

D2OLdaddy is used because it was found that the manager process didn't make all of the child-processes run at idle only; one runs at normal priority.

all process are set to low priority, when dockwin and F@H are running, they split the CPU 50/50. when gridwin and F@H run, F@H uses 99% of the cpu and D2OL effectivly does nothing. I set F@H to only run at 90% CPU power at most, and this seems to have solved my immediate problem (d2ol getting stuck on gridwin) but why don't they run 50/50?

Well, I give to F@H 50%... so D2OL takes whats left from F@h. Should be 50/50 since.

Is there any way to increase the candidate que size past 2000? I would like to know becasue over christmas the university shuts down the network (well they did at thanksgiving at least) and my computer would go 12-14 days with no way to upload or download cands. Also I figure F@H will finish about 24 hours into that and D2ol would run all by its self for that whole time. or would a 2.3ghz athlon 64 go through that many cands in that time.

it will be really close... that athlon should be doing ~130ish a day maybe a titch more...but depening on the batch of cands you get downloaded it may be more or less.


either way you'll be @ 1850-2000 when you come back..

What bullet said, it will be really close or just over, depending on the 'size' of the cands you downloaded...

so just don't worry about it.
