Hey, wow, what a good read :-) I have thoroughly enjoyed this entire thread and it has been very informative indeed. Thank you members and thank you Raja :D
Relevant specifications: Motherboard - ASUS P8Z77-V PRO

A few questions;
1) I know this is more of an Intel question but I was wondering if you may be able to shed some light on this any way. What exactly is the IRSS (Intel Rapid Start Technology) feature? If it is indeed something like what I am thinking it is i.e. something to do with some sort of specialized Intel branded 'hibernation' system, should I not bother installing this part of the AI Suite since I am not planning to use any sort of Sleep / Hibernate system(s) at any point for my desktop?
2) What is the difference between the 'USB Charger+' and 'AI Charger+' features? Are they one in the same? I ask as there are two separate drivers for them, and as far as I can tell they are both for features whilst despite having different names, perform the same function. Also in regards to this, once the drivers are indeed installed for these/this feature(s), is there an option I must consciously activate to use the features(s), or is it automatic? Finally on the same topic, to use said functionality once the drivers have been installed, are there only specific USB ports that it is active for, or is it active on all USB ports on the board?
ASUS blurbs about both -

3) Lastly, if I set the bottom x16 PCIe slot to 4x instead of 1x in the UEFI, will this do any damage to the ASUS Xonar Xense that I have in there?
Thank you in advance for your help.

Confirmed. Besides the original press-F1-to-setup-bios session, I have been unable to re-enter the BIOS with 1205 (P8Z77-V), no matter how much I spam DEL at bootup. I am now back on 1015. (Another similar report here at hardocp.)
Actually, things got worse afterwards. I tried to revert to 1015 within Windows (since I couldn't enter the BIOS to boot off USB stick, and the auto-UEFI USB port wasn't triggering either); but ASUS Update stopped responding when the flash reached 100%. Rebooting, I found the BIOS to be in corrupt/recovery mode. Thankfully I already had a BIOS file on USB disk, to recover with. I later tried everything again: same issues with 1205, and same issues with ASUS Update crashing + corrupting the BIOS. Summary: always have a backup BIOS file on USB stick, and avoid Windows BIOS updates when possible!
Raja were there any changes to the 6950 problems in 1206?

1) Yes, it is for quick recovery from hibernate. If you are not using this feature then no no need to install.
2) AI Charger is for Apple devices. USB Charger+ extends this to non Apple devices. There is a USB port on the rear IO with a green border that must be used for this.
3) The Xonar Xense is an X1 card, so you should have no problems.

Any reasons why one should pick the M5G over the V Pro? The Pro has more SATA ports.
I still did, but german ASUS support is a bad joke trying to fool me.
even at official ASUS supportforums anybody of staff even commented the reported problems, very poor in my opinion.
thatīs why Iīm asking here because it seems you are the only one even taking notice of problems.

/edit: I gave UEFI 3301 a try, the 6950/70 issue is defintly not fixed as you assumed.
Fighting issue with pci-e only being 4x with a 4890 in Top slot. threw into other boards and systems around and will work @ 2.0 16x. Frustrate the hell out of me because no rhyme or reason on this P8Z77 Deluxe.
Hi Jason,
Check the CPU socket for any bent pins. Also check the secondary PEG and see if it runs at more than 4X. What are you using to report lane width?

What is q-code 67? Just turned it on today, I got that code. TIA
Edit : Board is an M5G...
Could be memory related. Not sure what you were doing with the board last, but clear CMOS, take out all excess USB devices and SATA drives, down to a single memory module etc to debug if it will POST.
@Raja: BIOS Flashback seems to have done the trick. Board is alive again. I used the bios that Andre posted in the Kingpin forums then flashed to 0904. Gonna test a bit more then back to some more SuperPI 32M. :)Quote:
