Unfortunately I think most of us would be found lacking if we were held ot all those standards.I know myself that there are times you want to do a certain thing but life interfere's and dumps on your plans.
All one can do is to try and keep those thoughts in mind.
Now I want to add something that maybe I shouldn't but I think it's important.
Vapor and I had a falling out a few weeks ago over a personal issue.
We hadn't spoken since then.
Now you see me defending him here and some think I'm just standing up for a buddy or another staff member. Totally untrue.
I'm standing up for him because I beleive he's innocent of any wrong doing and doing so even though I was pissed at him over the other matter.
In my mind one has to separate the issues and deal with them as separate issues and in this case he is innocent of any wrongdoing as I see it.
That is the simple facts and there are maybe 100 people here that know this to be true.
I'm not about to sit back and watch an innocent guy get lynched by what I see as a witch hunt.
interesting i found this on the forum back in 2008, not sure if this was done or what people speak of,
but it's all new to me and prob a lot of people in this discussion except it seems to the top overclcokers,
seems lots of stuff is used that is commonplace, so i need to find out what it is and how to do it so i can get better scores too.
Mipmap tweaking, cheating or legit tweak?

I think calling for Vapor's banning etc is way over the top. He didn't cheat and he didn't have a chance to be a silent accessory. Even if he did keep quiet about it after the fact, it's not like he should be punished in the same way the cheaters are.
With that said, the thought that he (and Fugger for that matter) might have decided to keep silent about cheating really feels like a betrayal of trust. People look up to you guys.
I think at some point you need to stand up for yourself,
if you feel you did nothing wrong then stay on
but by stepping down it gives the appearance that you feel that you made a mistake and should step down.
Don't use the outcry and other stuff as a excuse to go left or right,
at some point we all need to take a stand no matter what people say
and do the right thing for yourself
so i say if you feel you did nothing wrong, stay and we all support you!
plus i see people use the word flame and such, but all i see in this thread is a lot of differing views and i think for the most part peope being very civil
and tryign to work thru what has happened. i think it's very well mannered for what it is about, a little offtop[ic and allover the place, kinda like therapy.
I have come to the conclusion that there is some hush hush tricks that the top people use on a regular basis, and so i want to be able to use it to....
till it gets shut down...
It was sarcasm, lol. In response to Darth's post about overclocking not being encouraged and it voiding your warranty.
Most people that are afraid to overclock will spend the extra sharp cheddar on a higher-clocked chip (or a higher-clocked GPU, i.e.: EVGA SuperClocked edition) instead of overclocking a cheaper chip with great potential.
I, sirs, I, am not afraid to being the overclock, ergo, the neat, the noise, and t3h XTRA POWA!
Something about frames in GT1 being higher than GT2 or GT2 being higher than GT1 when it shouldn't have been. Scores were opposite of everyone elses? :confused:Quote:

I have been reading this thread but all I see is blah blah blah.
Yup same here. Such a big deal. You know I would have been pissed off if it was a youtube vid or something with Vapor, Skinnee and such taking rounds out of my wife or something but this?!? Maybe it's just me then but to tell you the truth isn't that how progress is made by people who think outside the box or bend the rules and others try to compensate for it? Everybody is a cheat and everybody is a liar for one damn thing or another and if someone say's different then they are lying right there because it is impossible to do. What bothers me is people out for blood on a forum. To me it say's get a freakin life already! Vapor I don't give a rats behind if you bought the damn thing yourself and gave it to skinnee. To me the two of you have contributed way more and heck I would have bought you the damn score myself to help pay back all the stuff you guys did for us. Don't listen to the blow-hards spewing their garbage and asking for people to step down. I don't find what you guys did malicious and heck if you guys did get away with it I would not have cared or be bothered by it. I find it's up to the score keepers to adapt and make things tighter. There will always be a guy with something up his sleeve to beat the odds.
At the rate this is going, FUGGER is going to be the only one left.
Try to keep it civilized everyone.
See, this is exactly why people think you should stay. You recommended that skinnee take the high road and left, and yet you still want to step down because your name is peripherally mentioned in this scandal because you don't want any reflection on XS. That is exactly the kind of attitude we need here.
Naturally, opinion is divided about this, but Vapor needs to grow a thick skin and un-resign. I also think someone with the authority needs to hit the reset button; too many casualties already (BenchZowner, Vapor, and Dinos22, to some extent). Personally, I believe people need a second chance because we're all fallible. Bans and restrictions (including Andre's) should all be commuted to 30 days, that's enough punishment considering all the under-handed things that are emerging. HWBOT should follow suit. This should be a teachable moment for all overclockers and the art itself - it's broken and needs fixing. A preliminary committee should be formed as a place-holder for an eventual governing body. This committee should be tasked with recognizing and addressing all known loop-holes to-date through a draft of regulations that would form the basis of the rules for all overclocking competitions, in addition to any special rules that the competition organizations should propose. I believe the most important aspect of overclocking we're forgetting (but which Dave already mentioned) is the promotion of friendship and cooperation, of sharing (no pun intended) and solidarity.
The outcome of this negative turn of affairs should not be further division, but a strengthening of bonds between OCs from all over the globe. I believe pardoning or giving the accused a second chance is not a sign of weakness, but rather a show of strength. The strength to trust them to be responsible, knowing they have only one more chance to condemn themselves to eternal infamy.
I think we finally got enough drama. Has everyone had their opportunity to vent? Excellent.
Vapor I understand your reasoning, but you are a valuable member of the XS staff. From my POV you are the same stand up guy you've always been. I hope, once you have some time to consider your move, you get back in the saddle.
OK dudes, heres the curveball. Andre Yang did this on purpose. He knew he would be caught, and he knew the others involved would all be caught.
Seriously, someone with his knowledge of the game knows that somehow, someway, he would get caught in this.
He used these other guys as pawns. patsies. fall-guys. Whatever you wanna call it. He gave these scores out to people that he thought would be dumb enough to take them (no offense guys, but its true).
So whatever statement that he was making, or whatever mission he is on, he used them and destroyed their credibility as a perpetuation of his own intentions. What the intentions were, im unsure.
But people want to equate this to legal terms, even bringing up "accessory after the fact" and all that.
Ever heard of Entrapment?
This is a picture perfect case of it.
The fact that one of the guys gets in here and comments that Andre was such a hater for giving the scores to other people, (and even had the gall to be MAD about it!) tells you that this has been going on for awhile.
SO....there is a clique of individuals who were involved, and it has happened before, and is probably much more widespread than any of us think. Making all of the HWbot questionable, and making a mockery of the 'sport'.
I dont give a flying :banana::banana::banana::banana:.
This whole bunch of :banana::banana::banana: isnt going to effect me in any way. I dont care about prizes or money or gold cups, i dont have any and dont care to have any. The thrill of this for me is building something, doing something no one has ever done, researching tirelessly, watching new tech come and old tech die, rapin chips and taking names! I dont need any recognition for my true passion. Making friends (and the enemies are even better) along the way and hangin out on the forums is also a big part of my passion for this as well.
Whatever was going on with these guys is high drama, and this is an epic thread, oh the SUSPENSE!!
But really, back to overclocking people! Its a blip on the radar. We shouldnt turn a blind eye to it, but we also shouldnt continue to drag this out. expel the demons and be done with it damnit!
Late to the party, but I just wanted to say I think it's the right decision to make this a discussion as opposed to a "silent" ban. Good leadership Fugger.
