hmm
i guess a refund it is then.. and ill wait for a second mobo! ohwell... i kinda wanted another AN7 to play with so i could get the vdd mod working and see if 1.9-2.0vdd would bring some life to this mobo.

I really doubt a VDD mod is gonna help this board. My does 225 at default VDD but its not stable at anything higher no matter what the VDD is. Unless its gonna take 2v+ on the VDD and the only thing I'd have to say about that is @#$% that.
The new NF7's also don't respond to vdd voltage. My board is actually better w/o mod. It's stable and all, but the screen flashes with the mod. Without it there's no problem :SQuote:

I NEED a new board and NEED to order tomorrow.
Do I get a NF7-S V2 or a AN7?
Bare in mind I have a NF7-S V1.2 ATM, and I'm so used to 200MHz FSB that 220MHz would be great IMO :) I have 2x512mb TwinMOS PC3200 with Winbond BH-5s.
I have a 1700+ DLT3C JIUHB, does 2.8GHz nicely at 1.95v.
What do you think, I'd really like to try out the AN7 for myself.
well it looks like both are doing about the same but the nf7 has more of a chance to be better i think.
Bare in mind there has only been 1 BIOS update for the AN7. ;)
Yeah, pretty fkn ambitious to fix it arent they.
So far.....Quote:

Anyway, I think 3.2v VDimm is enticing me to go with the AN7, I can't see how it can be worse than a NF7-S V2, all new NF2 boards don' seem to be doing as well as the week 9s to 11s :(
I'd say go with it!Quote:

Hell i cant seem to overclock my Barton 2500+ as high as i could with that An7.. Might be the bigger mosfets or something..
It clocks higher on CPU but the FSB is just fuct.
I tried the 12 bios again and it's all messed up but the 1/2 multies
work slightly better. When I mean better it doesn't reboot as fast. :( The ram timings don't hold with the 12 so...
You would think Abit would have released a quickie bios fixing the 1/2 multi problem but no.
I will agree the board OC's CPUs very well. But that's it.
Ordered the AN7 :D
Should be here tomorrow.
As long as I can get 220MHz+ FSB with RAM timings of x,2,2,2 and get my 1700+ to 2.8GHz+ I'll be happy :) Don't want to have to do any mods to the board either.
I have a 256mb 9800 coming too, hope it clocks better than this 128mb 9800 Pro :)
do you run 1.6Vdd or 1.7Vdd? in the bios?Quote:

This is off topic, but i'd like to see a screenshot of this one. What kind of cooling?Quote:

wont get that without a prommie
Yeah It's Prommie cooled, not a biggy really, many people get them type of 1700+s to 2.8GHz+. Bowman has his at very near 3GHz :)
I have some news for you guys.
I had to send my an7 back because of the voltage problems i was havin.
I just have recevied my replacement board, and it does not have any signs of any tracers being cut on it.
The shop where I bought it from quoted with my RMA.
We have been advised that Abit have revised the board so that this issue cannot happen again.
You're replacement board was one of the newer boards so that should be the end of it.
This is only the second AN7 board sent back to us out of about 60 sold to date, and this is well below average, so we are confident
you will no longer have any problems.
So looks like that problem may have been solved
Lets hope SO!!!!
where did you guy this. and is it maked as a rev 1.1 or is it still a 1.0 but without the ghetto hand mods?
NewEgg has alot of the AN7's instock.
I can't for the life of me find this cut trace on my AN7, it's a Rev 1.0.
Nope it still marked as a rev 1.0, also it shipped with 13 bios instead of old 12, so it must be from a new batch.
Im in the uk buy the way. So i dont knwo how the situation is else where.
CHeers
I just got mine today and it doesnt have the cut trace either.
From the Egg?Quote:

Got it from xcsystems. I ordered it back on Nov. 15th before newegg/excal had it. Yes, I just got it today. Apparently Abit has a problem with shipping crap on time.
Mine also didnt have the cut trace, but nonetheless it still sucks ass for stability and OC.
Oh well. I'll probably eBay it as a media rig (it does have its good points, 4 USB backpanel + Firewire, 2 Optical-Out and better RLT codec.
Its just that its not very stable for SATA and needs lots of NB volts to stay happy. :|
Wonder if a 1.1 is around the corner. I dont think anyone intended this board to clock worse, its just some design glitches.
