Almost fell out of my seat

I disagree. This is pretty bad publicity.
And thanks to those here at XS for keeping us informed, especially with the recent US/CA store launch. Although this doesn't affect me directly (US), I can't help but question whether they extend the same logic to their customer relations and product quality control (phobya).
Anyone that thinks all publicity is good publicity is an idiot. Just ask BP.
Happy to see this thread back up the top of the forum drawing attention again. Surprising how many members here are advocating AT and shocked how few of you spend your money with any morality.
You cannot and should not forgive and forget until they ask to be forgiven. They havent even admitted they did it (or did anything wrong) for christ sake. Thieving bunch of rats.
i concur but as a counterpoint i offer up http://www.nytimes.com/2010/11/28/bu...blicity&st=cse
...so easy to criticize...got any Foxconn components...people pushed to suicide versus trademark grab. What's worse and where do we draw the line when boycotting vendors?
Wow what a story... I can well believe in such shady tactics. However watercooling suppliers are somewhat different to glasses suppliers. Price differences are not all that great between stores, plus the target customer base is much smaller and community minded. I know 6 people who water cool their PCs, all of whom I got started on it and none of them will ever shop at AT. Liquid cooling will never be mainstream, so negative publicity marketing tactics to stay at the top of search engines wont work. When was the last time you actually google'd for watercooling shops? The first thing someone should do is read forums when getting into this hobby - hopefully by doing so they will see posts like this and stay away from AT and Phobya. That kind of marketing tactic would only work where you have a large consumer base that does not have any community contact with each other. The guy freely admits he preys on "dumb" shoppers - he doesn't want to do business with anyone who bothers to read customer reviews first. Very few people who liquid cool their PCs would fit into the "dumb shoppers" catagory if you ask me.
Cheers for the link though - a real eye opener!
I don't know where you're from, but here where I live (PA, USA), lots of people and I mean LOTS watercool their PCs.
Most start with some pre built kit, but then move on to their own custom set up. And you know what matters most to them? Like any other rational consumer, it's the price. And if AT has a cheaper price on the SAME products (EK, AC, etc) then why not buy from them?
If AT's inhouse brands are of inferior quality (which they are), then that is something to post about to inform others, but telling people where to shop is not.
If you and others have personal problems with a company, so be it, but don't slander and rant about it constantly, it is quite frankly childish and annoying.
I may not post a lot, but I've been a lurker here for a long time and if you look at other watercooling forums, there is almost none of this crap.
I find it really sad that at least one topic a week is about vendor/brand/whatever bashing.
It also seems that there is a certain core "group" of people who always go about this vendor/brand bashing....
So I may as well make an appearance here and let you know the current story.
The "trademark grab" as you have named was related to another legal proceeding. Due to this nature employees cannot comment until the case is fully concluded. Hence the no comments in this thread and that will remain the same until HQ releases a statement in a new thread for you.
ABOUT ME: I represent the support for the UK and USA shops, I will freely spend my own personal time trying to help the community in answering questions, providing free shipping for forum members or samples for testers like Skinnee / Martin. As you can imagine having a massive amount of stock/range behind us you should see me as a great resource to help in your hobby and at the end of the day if you respect me I will help you out no questions asked but if you want to keep trolling etc i will be less inclined to help you and you will not have access to a resource you could use to help improve the community.
Finally this made me LOL
As funnily enough I'm on holiday 27th Nov - 6 Dec but I had to reply to this post as it amused me. Waterlogged don’t worry your little head next time I have annual leave I will PM you so you don’t worry where I have gone. Also if I didn't want people to see the this thread I would not openly link it in my other threads ;) It give us good traffic / conversions so people should see it.
Once the statement has been released I will post it in a new thread so Shazza please decide the fate of the thread as the question will not be answered here.
Now, I have nothing against you personally, just the ppl you choose to work for. If you chose to continue the condescending tone however, I can be...flexible.
Not worried at all, I just thought it was a really well time "absence".;) Oh, and good luck PM'ing me, I only accept PM's from ppl I know have quality character, jury's still out on you.
Yes, I'm sure your bosses will try to spin this in a way where they were doing the PC modding community a favor as "some other unscrupulousness individual" (which will likely never be named) was going to do the same , only they (your bosses) beat them to it. Sorry, don't buy it. . .Andreas has previous history with this kind of stunt before and all it boils down to is European exclusivity rights for the trademarks they grabbed. If they had succeeded, any vendor that wanted to list anything AT had the trademark to, they would have had to pay AT a royalty for. Seeing it didn't work out that way, AT can "negotiate" to release the trademark to the rightful owner for sole distributor ship rights in Europe meaning other stores will have to by their stock from AT, it was a win win move for them even if they lost on it.
@aquatuning,
There's no need to be :banana::banana::banana:y, to accuse folks of trolling, or try to influence a thread closed, it does you no justice. (and it's not very becoming)
And thank you for the offer of support. It's very nice and appreciated - but I wouldn't make it sound so much like bribery. "respect me, and I will help you out"?
Just be a humble rep and when your able, explain it if your see fit...
Hi guys. Not meaning to ignore this thread.
I'm closing it for now - not because the AquaTuning rep asked - but because we're going nowhere - and it's just going to end up getting people in hot water. I'd also like to know the answer to the trademark grab issue, but I don't see us getting the answer here.
I'm also requesting that Vapor and other mods/Admins who follow this section review the decision to close the thread - since I'm not entirely comfortable being the sole arbiter of this situation.
