Nice job Mick.
What setting did you used for rendering in Kerkythea? There are 25 settings i think (ray tracing, photon map - quick, photon map - low, photon map - high + AA etc.)

Mick,
It would be a crime not to see this on shelves.
Modding is fun yes, but this many options with that kind of finish, it has to get made.
No two ways about it. :)
As for steel or alu, i would rather own alu but depending on cost i could see how many would like to own a case like with but at a lower price point.
I use number 20. Metropolis Light Transport (BPT). Most of my renders are between 100 and 200 passes @ 1024x768. The more passes you do the sharper the image, but the bigger the image the longer it will take to do each pass. 200 passes takes about 8 hours on my PC using 3 of 4 cores. See sig for spec's.
Very nice design. It would be really nice if someday you could make this case a reality and be able to sell it. I know I would certainly buy one, even at the more expensive aluminum.
Some of my SketchUp models are now available on the SketchUp Components Collection website for those that are interested....
Any updates on when this might become a physical reality?? I have a Black Pearl that would love to be emptied (well, it is empty now, but will be filled by this time next week) and would be happy see my rig in this case you've designed :D
Watercooling UK are in the process of building a prototype based on my design, but it's still in the early stages and there's nothing of a physical nature to speak of yet. I should also add, that due to manufacturing restraints, it will not be possible for the prototype to be identical to my design. I am eagerly waiting to see how close the physical case will compare to the one in my renders....
awesome! that`s the only word matching aproximatly your work with sketchup. it`s great!! i love it, no i need one!! :D
just very few minor changes i would propose...
to get a cleaner front, why don`t you plan the 5 1/4 bays covered? e.g. you can do a stealthmod with your optical drive? and further more have you thought about not using mesh for the intake fan? something lasered or engraved out of the aluminium instead of using mesh?
same for the sidepanels, why using mesh and destroy the very clean look?
just some proposals...
keep up the great work, and if the case really gets into production, it`s definetly worth a look! all the discussion about the price are just waste... if you think about an MM, which ist "just" a modded retail case (999$)
hmm your only in essex :P hurry up and make it so i can steal it mwuhaha =)
Thats excellent to hear, you should be proud of yourself.
Looking forward to seeing what it looks like
Basically, some of the components of my design would need expensive, specialised machinery to be manufactured. This would not be cost effective or practical when building a prototype. Some of the components will have to be redesigned to simplify the build process and keep the costs down....
Come on: Just go out and build a one-of. Everyone has to follow his dream and invest a little bit into it. Go for it, don't wait for others! :)
I would love to be able to build this myself! Unfortunately, I would have to win the lottery first. I'm not a rich man. I have a family to support on an average wage. Things like this just have be considered a luxury I can't afford...:shakes:
However, I am preparing the detailed 2D drawings required for fabrication. So maybe, one day if the funds become available, I will pursue this dream! ;)
that would indeed be great, if you can get your dream to come true!! :D
Just checking back to see how things are going! Good to hear you have someone working on your design! Truly incredible!!!
Did you figure out how to export CAD DWG. from Sketch Up yet without buying the full Pro Version?
If not, download the free trial pro version to another computer and you can use it for 8 hrs for free. I design on one rig and transfer to the other rig where I export my files as CAD files. Only using minutes at a time with the free pro version...it has a countdown clock!!!
My case design is complete..."the acrylic one" and have transferred files to Corel Draw X4 to output on my laser cutter/engraver. I'll show some pic's once it's done...crossing my fingers it'll look good and hold together nicely!
Sometime down the road I should be purchasing some more equipment for metal cutting and bending...if you still haven't found anyone to build it I'll give you a ring.
Best of luck to you!!!!
Kirk
I'd certainly be interested one of these cases if they become a reality...keeping an eye on this thread. Good luck :)
I like dualbrain , Nils idear about going to universities to see if they can help you make this happen.
Don't give up mate.
I am sure I have dreamed of a case like this... Hope this becomes reality soon. Good Job!
I actually can't come up with anything wrong with that case. Well done.
Wish I had some solid news...:shakes:
