the system temp refers to nb or motherboard? the chipset refers to pwm?

here are my bios settings...some came from my memory and i will verfiy in the bios after this post to make sure they are correct as posted here.
the only thing that is a nuisance, at this time, is a cold power-on causing an '88' for a post code (no post screen)...then, 'C1' tries its thing but the board has to shut down to do a bios re-sync with the stored bios code...it eventually posts but it is definitely an annoyance as you watch it go through this double pump of shutting down and starting back up.

Ace-a-Rue i see that you ran a QX9650 on a Abit IP35 motherboard can you try that CPU on this DFI X38 and get at least 10 x 400?
Great to hear and i am praying the mobo will run that CPU really good 4.0-4.5ghz ON AIR.

@Ace-a-Rue
At those settings the board should run a sub 7 PL. Have you tried locking in PL at 7 with the phases on Auto and then pulling in a couple of the phases?
Well I'm taking the plunge.. Just ordered one.
Hopefully they will work on a bios to eliminate that cold boot issue.
BTW, Egg's price on this came down 10bux from earlier today.
Are these going to be compatible with the Yorkfields?
So would you say that stressing with Prime is unneccessary? I only ask because I can pass OCCT no problem even when Prime will error in the same amount of time. Then again, maybe I'm just trying to find an easy way out on overclocking this board ;) Currently stuck on 3.6GHz, but this BIOS is totally new for me since I didn't own the P35.
That's something only you can answer. Unfortunately Prime still remains the best utility for comparing system to system stability. However, if the only thing that errors out on your system is Prime who cares. I use Prime quite a bit testing boards so I know from personal experience the downfalls of constantly hammering a board with dual-cores and Prime.
praz is it just me or this board needs less volts on memory compared to p35?
Might be a touch less. It's hard for me to compare directly as I've been pushing PL and TRD phases pretty hard. I'll know once I stick some 2x2GB sticks in. On the P35 they ran 1080MHz at 1.95 volts.
Anybody using Everest upgrade to this version. Fixed CPU/Aux temperatures and added some voltages. Also should work with the next BIOS release which broke the last version.

Just got my board last night and it's up and running now, everything at default settings ... and I just need to know if what's posted for the Q6600, will that work to get setup for my E6850?
So any G.skill PC2-8000 2X2GB 4GB dual channel kit testing done on this mobo yet?
i tried 7 and it wouldn't come out of a no post screen after saving only that setting...i had to invoke the 'hotkey' to get it to post.
well...i'm off to take out the Q6600 and insert my QX9650...see you in a few hours; maybe an hour.
OH...forgot to mention the Areca card works beautifully in PCIe slot 1...it is the only way to post to boot with the VC in PCIe slot 2...Areca card is working at 8X and the VC at 16X
back up with the QX9650 installed..just booted up a default speed...the cpu core temp are off the wall in readouts...pretty well the same on IP35 Pro...
51C..core 0
12C..core 1
37C..core 2
12C..core3
cores 1 & 2 fluctuate sometimes minus 1C
core 0 steady at 51C
core 2 steady at 37C
I'll be particularly interested to see how the gtl and chipset voltage settings that work for your yorkfield compare to the kentsfield values. :D
need some help, just got a new G0 today installed and the computer wont boot properly
Even on default it goes into bios but before the windows loading screen,
the screen just turns black and stays for 10+mins
how are your cpu settings set? that is, did you disable all those "features" (crap) intel adds into the mix? ie. C1E and thermal management.
other than that maybe loosen ram timinges/ lower strap. and try increasing volts
EDIT: did you check your boot device order?
