hey so is the chamber going to be easily accessible...or at all for replacement of parts and such?
I like to get opinions from you guys about colors for the inside of the cooling chamber. I thought about leaving it aluminum finish, but now I'm thinking of painting the inside for a little bling. My fans are blue LED's and braided sleeving will be black....so, I was thinking glossy orange, black or red.
What do you guys think a good color combination would be for the inside of the chamber?
id leave it with the brush finish, paint may not go well with low temps.
There are no words that could express the amount of admiration and respect I have for people with your level of tinkerbilities. OH and I'd go red inside so that ambient light reflects and allows you to more easily see if something is amiss.
now build a photo voltaic array to power it.
Acid etch a custom goliath logo in the chamber.
Any chance of a comparisn shot, say to a normal case, or you stood next to it :)

i know your not going in this direction, but... since your going to cool the mb down to about -40c with no moisture in the box, would it be possible to really chill a cpu?? down to myabe -200 :D or lower with the right phase change....
Thanks for the compliment. Its funny you should mention phase change cooling in the chamber....I have plans to add direct die evaporator to the cpu, if all the components combined dumps to much heat in the liquid loop.
It will not be hard to add, the only problem would be a seperate system outside the chamber. I've already made the evaporator block and mount....just need to build compressor system. I'm sure the unit will never get down to -200, because the phase exchange system I will build would be a singe stage. I have to finish what I started first, then if it fails to perform as expected....then, it will be time to add the phase exchanger.:D
Any plans for your choice of motherboard and CPU ... perhaps, in light of the fact that some MB/CPU's are more overclockable than others.
Are you aiming at the fastest/most_powerfull rig on the planet ???
That said, what are your plans for the graphics. GPU(s) and (hi/low res) screen display ??
Have you any plans for multiple CPU's ... possibly even 3 or 4 ?

I vote for leaving the interior as is. It's bling enough... lights will add all the color you need IMO.

I have been imagining what that would be like since I started reading this thread some months ago, but I didn't mention anything because I assumed you must have a really good reason why direct-die on the CPU wouldn't work. It would be simply immense if you did add something like that. Can I just ask, though, as this is such an extreme project in every other way, why single stage on the CPU? Compared to the rest of the project, that's a bit vanilla, isn't it? Cascade all the way!

The only reason I would not use a Cascade is because I can't get the gases. All I have available is R507.:( I'm thinking about deleting the water cooling for the harddrives and build a single stage in its place. I don't like the idea of having a seperate cooling system attached outside the Goliath case. The whole idea of this build is to have all components in one case. If I decide to make the change, now is the time.
Guys, I made two decisions this morning and one will delay the project a little longer. The first decision is to not paint the interior of the cooling chamber. I made new clousure panels to cover the liquid loop and wires. The brush aluminum finish should look fine after everything is assembled....besides, I can't find a paint that will withstand the low tempertures.
The delay will be adding a direct die system to the CPU. I feel its more important to cool the CPU seperate from the other components. I will use the liquid loop to cool the GPU's and NB. I will be deleting water cooling for the harddrives and install the direct die system in its place. So, now my project has gotten a little more extreme and still can be called a Triple Cooling System.:D
The components used in building the direct die system will be a Danfoss SC12CLX.2 compressor, R507 refrigerant, 32 pass condenser and my CrossFlow evaporator. I think this will do the job well.:D
