I meant pcice's stepping.
But I would suggest you to changing out the a-tbred for a 2600er barton... :) (Think others may have suggested you before)

oh yeah oc ice i tried the 8 bit mod and all it did was take away my default and change it to only user defined you i also have to do the pin mod for it to work like yours
The L12 mod I did was to the mobo not the cpu and steal get the same options as pc ice
maybe i did somethin wrong ill try again
Try booting @ 200fsb then check the bios. it did the same thing to me"Loser defined";) . but after i went above 200fsb 3200+ became an option. i recently reverted to bios 10 & it did the same thing but listed 3100+ as an option. also when ever i reset the cmos it goes back to Loser defined till i go above 200fsb again.Quote:

bios 10 was unstable so im back to 14. this chip seems to like
high fsb but not above multi 11 yet.
i cant get to 200 fsb it wont start i think its memory i only have a 256 stick
pc ice what bios are you using or anyone who got 8 bit mode to work
Is it able to pass any bench???
how can i tell if the l12 mod worked??
See if you can push the fsb higher then before. did you do the 8bit mod? if so youll see +3200 & user defined as the cpu choises.
hey pc ice, wut stepping is that 2500? what cooling do u use? (I apologize if u already mentioned it and I just didnt read it)
If I get the L12 mod done then I'm definitely getting a higher FSB right ?
:thumbsup:Quote:

l12 mod didnt' do crap for me.
Ok, correct me if I am wrong. If the L12 mod is successful, my CPU would be detected as 166 default during bootup. Correct ?
i guess it should, but mine didn't :(Quote:

I did mine and it gave me many many options in overclocking. The first time I booted it gives me "User Defined", 3100+, 3000+ and so on (around 12 options)... Once I chose one of them it saved whatever I chose and use that as the default until I clear the cmos... So I don't really know if it became a 166fsb CPU or not but it did change something
Probably because mine is a 1700+ and it doesn't have a 166fsb nor 200fsb version with the same multiplier and core ;)
Does anyone know where i can get the 10d BIOS? This is the one with the SATA drivers correct?
Thanks
damn, i'm dumb... i did the mod wrong, using the wrong socket holes...
i'll tell yah my results when i have time to test
Just did mine with the wire in the socket. Booted up at 200X11( was at 220X11) and only gave me options for user define or XP3200 so i guess it worked. But i haven't seen any gains yet, still can't run 230 stable like my last 1700.:(
Looks like the d20 bios was holding me back. Just flashed to the d10 and peaked at 240X10:D Not stable though, I'm pretty sure this board needs some mods to get stable. Still playing with it and running at 230X10@1.9V for now. Thanks for the great guide.
whussup everybody??
alright, i tried the wire trick on my motherboard, i tried forcing the 133fsb and i also tried the forcing 200fsb. each one gave me the same result: it booted, i got to the BIOS, and then it restarted, and just kept restarting! :( anyone have any ideaz why?? o and herez my info if it helpz any:
Barton 2800+ 333fsb
EpoX 8rda3+
OCz EL 466 DDR
you think i should just try the L12 mod instead??
thankz!
Another success story here, use single strand from a floppy cable and inserted into the CPU holder and wallah cpu recognised as a 166fsb chip :D
Not sure if its help yet im reinstalling windows then going to overclock, bbl :)
you guys know if there is a wire mod to make a 166 fsb cpu into a 133 fsb one ? ("reverse L12") ??
Thanx
I think you'll have to cut a bridge to do it reverse, i think there's a thread in the stickied about it
